Abstract

In the face of geopolitical instability and ongoing international conflicts, the concept of a "Pancasila-Based Diplomacy Center" is emerging as a relevant alternative strategy for promoting global peace. Pancasila, which embodies values such as humanity, social justice, and unity, offers a moral framework that can address global disparities. Indonesia’s experience in maintaining diversity amidst domestic challenges suggests that Pancasila could serve as a diplomatic model for resolving international conflicts. This study explores the application of Pancasila values in international diplomacy, particularly in dispute resolution. Using a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design, the research will examine the relationship between national issues and Pancasila, comparing diplomacy grounded in Pancasila with other diplomatic models, such as those focused on human rights and democracy. The comparison will highlight the effectiveness of the Pancasila-based strategy in fostering inclusive and sustainable peace. Ultimately, the research aims to advance the theory of value-based diplomacy and initiate a new discourse on Indonesia’s role in promoting global peace. It emphasizes the importance of establishing a Pancasila-Based Diplomacy Center within the next five years, positioning Indonesia as a key player in global conflict resolution. By implementing Pancasila as the foundation for international diplomacy, Indonesia can contribute to a more inclusive, equitable, and peaceful global order, despite the challenges of gaining international acceptance for its principles.

Abstract

Unconventional hydrocarbons are hydrocarbon sources located in zones different from those typically associated with conventional hydrocarbon accumulations. This alternative energy resource, originating primarily from the United States and Russia, has begunto attract attention and development efforts in Indonesia. One of the Indonesian regions with potential for unconventional hydrocarbons especially shale gas is the North East Java Basin. However, several environmental issues must be considered in unconventional oil and gas exploitation activities. These include impacts on surface water and groundwater, air resources, as well as waste management and disposal problems. Therefore, alongside the advancement of technologies for unconventional oil and gas exploitation, it is essential to develop environmentally sustainable technologies that can address these challenges. This article discusses the role of geophysics in assessing both the potential and limitations of its application in resolving environmental problems, particularly those related to land and inland water environments

Abstract

Kalisidi Village is located in the West-Ungaran District, Semarang Regency. The village has abundant natural resources and strong potential for ecotourism development. However, agricultural challenges such as limited seed storage facilities, suboptimal irrigation, and insufficient seedling quality hinder the maximization of this potential. This study aims to analyze and implement community development programs based on local resources by establishing a fruit seedling center that supports both agricultural productivity and ecotourism. Data were collected through the Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA). The program was planned based on the issues found by FGD with the Kelompok Wanita Tani in Kalisidi Village, which were divided into three main aspects: technology, information, and human resource management. To resolve these issues, Team 134 of KKN-T Diponegoro University proposed several programs including constructing a greenhouse, providing grafting technique training, implementing an automatic irrigation system based on Real-Time Clock (RTC), and developing a database that includes mapping high-quality fruit commodity distribution in Kalisidi village. The greenhouse design uses a lightweight iron frame with UV-resistant plastic covering, which has proven to be effective and economical for small-scale farmers. Moreover, it improved seedling protection and survival rates, while simultaneously grafting training enhanced farmers’ technical capacity and increased the availability of high-quality seedlings. Additionally, the irrigation system optimized water use efficiency and reduced labor requirements, whereas the fruit database provided spatial information that supported agricultural planning and promotion of local commodities. As a result, these programs contributed to strengthening food security, improving economic opportunities, and supporting agro-edutourism in Kalisidi Village. The study concludes that integrating local resource-based community empowerment with technological innovation can enhance rural ecotourism and ensure sustainable agricultural development.

Abstract

This study discusses the transition of the succession system in the Ottoman Empire from a direct inheritance model from father to son to a seniority system, where the oldest male in the dynasty has the right to ascend the throne. This change had a significant impact on the increasing influence of women in the palace, especially Valide Sultan and Haseki Sultan. In this context, figures such as Kösem Sultan and Turhan Sultan used their positions to influence political policies and maintain the stability of power. This study uses a qualitative method with a historical and social approach, focusing on library research. By referring to historical sources, it was found that the transition of this succession system provided strategic advantages for women in the palace in strengthening their position in the power environment. Valide Sultan and Haseki Sultan obtained positions that allowed them to play an active role in government policy-making, both in the social, cultural, and economic fields.

Abstract

This study examines the multidimensional effects of carbon pricing on environmental quality and economic attractiveness in Asia-Pacific countries, applying Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). Economic attractiveness is proxied by foreign direct investment (FDI) indicators, while environmental quality is assessed through the Environmental Performance Index (EPI) and related metrics. The model incorporates four latent constructs: carbon pricing, environmental performance, fiscal capacity, and FDI. Results indicate that carbon pricing exerts a statistically significant and positive impact on both environmental quality and government revenue, reinforcing its role as a policy instrument with dual ecological and fiscal benefits. Notably, carbon pricing also demonstrates a direct positive influence on FDI, suggesting that credible and transparent environmental policies may enhance a country’s investment appeal. However, indirect effects via environmental performance and fiscal capacity are not statistically significant. By integrating environmental, fiscal, and investment dimensions, this study contributes a novel empirical framework to the literature on sustainable development policy in emerging economies. The findings offer actionable insights for policymakers aiming to design carbon pricing strategies that support both environmental goals and economic competitiveness.

Abstract

The Asia-Africa Conference of 1955, or the Bandung Conference, was a historic meeting that aimed to articulate and support independence movements across Asia and Africa. During the conference, Soekarno placed Palestine as a top priority, extending Indonesia's support based on national interest and the broader struggle against prolonged colonialism. The Bandung Conference became a milestone in Indonesia's foreign diplomacy, a legacy later reaffirmed by Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi in her 2023 United Nations General Assembly address. This paper explores the underlying philosophy of the Bandung Conference by analyzing Soekarno's political stance on Palestine from the early twentieth century onwards. Using primary sources including Indonesian historical records and Dutch newspapers, the study maps out the principles of the Bandung Conference and examines how these principles appear in Marsudi's diplomatic advocacy. The paper questions whether Marsudi merely invoked the Bandung Spirit rhetorically or translated it into concrete action. The findings show that the values of the Bandung Conference were deeply rooted in a critical understanding of colonialism and accompanied by intellectual debate and transnational advocacy. The study demonstrates how these foundational ideas have extended into tangible aspects of Indonesian foreign policy. Ultimately, the article concludes that Retno Marsudi's advocacy efforts align with the legacy and values of the Bandung Conference.

Abstract

In responding to big contributions of construction sector to global emission, Indonesia has developed Greenship as green building rating systems tools to promote sustainable construction. In the other hand, Indonesia also has a long tradition of vernacular architecture which embody sustainability through cultural, ecological, and spiritual values. This study adapts comparative case study approach in examined the alignment and divergence between Greenship criteria and the sustainability practices embedded in the vernacular house cases. The findings reveals that site development, user comfort and material consideration in vernacular practices was resonance towards Greenship. However, the mismatches in context-responsive design especially in structural durability and passive design strategy embedded in vernacular architecture have not been fully explored in modern context. By juxtaposing modern certification standards with traditional practices, this research suggests for an elaboration between green certification and vernacular architecture value to promotes better sustainability practice.
