Abstract

This narrative review analyzes how media framing in both news outlets and digital platforms shapes public perception across sociopolitical and cultural contexts. Drawing on framing theory as the conceptual foundation, this study systematically reviewed 72 peer-reviewed articles published between 2018 and 2023, retrieved from Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar using Boolean operators and targeted keywords such as “media framing,” “public opinion,” “misinformation,” and “crisis communication.” The review identified three dominant themes: (1) the direct influence of framing on individual attitudes and behaviors, (2) cross-cultural variations in framing reception and impact, and (3) the systemic role of media in shaping policy discourses and institutional trust. The analysis demonstrates that linguistic strategies such as metaphors and emotional cues significantly alter public interpretation and engagement, with implications for both democratic processes and health communication. Unlike previous reviews, this study emphasizes cross-regional comparisons, particularly in developing countries, and highlights long-term behavioral implications often overlooked in prior research. The findings suggest that media framing holds transformative power, underscoring the need for ethical attention from practitioners and strategic policymaking. Strengthening media literacy programs and integrating cross-cultural perspectives are crucial steps to mitigate risks and leverage framing’s potential for social good.

Abstract

In the digital era, social media platforms such as TikTok have become powerful channels for shaping consumer behavior, particularly in the beauty industry. This study examines the influence of Luxcrime product reviews on TikTok on consumer purchase decisions in Medan City. Using a quantitative correlational approach, data were collected through questionnaires from 100 female respondents aged 17–40 who had watched Luxcrime product review content on TikTok and had purchased the product. Data were analyzed using Spearman’s Rank Order Correlation with SPSS 29.0. The results show a significant and moderately strong relationship (ρ = 0.626, p < 0.05) between exposure to product reviews and purchase decisions, with a coefficient of determination of 39%. These findings indicate that authentic and informative TikTok reviews positively affect consumers’ decisions to purchase Luxcrime products. The study concludes that video-based e-WOM on TikTok enhances consumer trust, stimulates buying interest, and serves as an effective marketing strategy for beauty brands to optimize promotional efforts and improve sales performance.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the global adoption of hybrid work models and raised new challenges for internal crisis communication. This study examines how transformational leadership clarifies communication and strengthens employee engagement in multinational hybrid environments. A comparative qualitative case study of six firms was conducted through interviews, observations, and document analysis, with thematic analysis and triangulation applied. The findings show that transformational leadership improves clarity, trust, and engagement by fostering transparency, responsiveness, and empathy. Inclusive and adaptive strategies proved most effective in overcoming fragmented communication in hybrid models. The study also highlights that post-pandemic communication works best with flatter hierarchies, integrated digital tools, and feedback-rich systems, while transactional leadership often created gaps. This study contributes novelty by specifically examining transformational leadership in internal crisis communication within multinational hybrid environments, a topic rarely addressed in prior research. The research also underlines the relevance of Leader-Member Exchange and Situational Leadership theories in explaining effectiveness across industries. Limitations include qualitative subjectivity, small sample size, and fast-changing organizational contexts. Practically, the study suggests that organizations should equip leaders with empathetic and adaptive communication skills to sustain cohesion in hybrid settings.

Abstract

Indonesia's increasing flood frequency and severity underscore the urgent need for comprehensive disaster reporting that highlights both natural and anthropogenic causes. This study investigates temporal changes in the media framing of flood disasters between 2020 and 2025, with a focus on ecological narratives in Indonesian online news outlets. Using Entman’s four-frame model problem definition, causal attribution, moral evaluation, and remedy recommendation this research analyzed 60 articles from five national media platforms. The articles, covering events in Jakarta, Kalimantan, Jabodetabek, and Pekalongan, were examined using NVivo-assisted coding and critical discourse analysis supported by ecolinguistic perspectives. Results show a persistent reliance on natural disaster framing in both 2020 and 2025, with technical and infrastructural narratives increasingly dominant in recent years. While there is a gradual integration of scientific and policy-relevant vocabulary such as “climate adaptation” and “urban resilience” ecological degradation remains underreported. Comparisons between years reveal an incremental shift toward accountability framing, yet ecological drivers like deforestation or land-use mismanagement continue to receive minimal attention. Furthermore, reliance on official sources and episodic coverage patterns limit public engagement with systemic environmental issues. The discussion highlights structural constraints including corporate influence, low media literacy, regulatory barriers, and editorial dependence on government narratives. Lessons from Global South countries illustrate how integrating grassroots voices and improving journalist training can strengthen environmental reporting. The study concludes by advocating for institutional reforms, enhanced ecological literacy, and the empowerment of community journalism as steps toward more transformative media practices.

Abstract

His study examines the effect of Organizational Communication Satisfaction (OCS) on Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) in Indonesian State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), with Employee Engagement (EE) and Employer Branding (EB) as mediators. A cross-sectional survey of 336 employees was conducted using validated Likert-scale instruments. Data were analyzed with Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM), ensuring reliability and validity. Results show that OCS significantly predicts OCB (β = 0.31, p < 0.01). Both EE (β = 0.12, p = 0.017) and EB (β = 0.10, p = 0.024) partially mediate this relationship. These findings highlight that communication satisfaction influences behavior through emotional and symbolic mechanisms.  This study concludes that effective internal communication is a strategic resource for SOEs, fostering trust, engagement, and organizational resilience. Practical implications emphasize participatory and culturally sensitive communication strategies, while theoretically this research extends the OCS–OCB literature by integrating dual mediators in a public sector context.
