Abstract

This opinion article aims to provide recommendations regarding coping strategies that are suitable for female students who have experienced domestic violence. The coping strategy offered is Spiritual Emotional Freedom Technique (SEFT). SEFT therapy is a therapy that combines the body's energy system and spiritual therapy with the tapping method at several body points. Domestic violence is a form of violence that is rampant in Indonesia. Victims of domestic violence can be identified through their age, education and profession. If identified from the educational aspect, one of these victims is a female student. College students were chosen because as women who play the role of children in the family have the opportunity to become victims of domestic violence. SEFT therapy is recommended to overcome when these psychological impacts arise. From several literature studies conducted regarding the effectiveness of SEFT Therapy, it can be seen that this therapy is the right recommendation for female students who have experienced domestic violence.

Abstract

The World Health Organization (WHO) reports the global impact of chronic conditions as profound, associated with neuropsychiatric comorbidities, and thus affecting Quality of Life (QoL). This study assessed neuropsychiatric morbidity and the association with QoL among older adults with chronic conditions at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, Nigeria. A comparative cross-sectional analytic design was utilised to recruit 327 older adults aged 60 years and above for six months, then proportionally distributed into four groups. The Community Screening Instrument for Dementia (CSID), Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS-30) and WHO Quality-of-Life for the Old (WHOQOL-OLD) were administered. Data was analysed using the SPSS version 27.0. Neuropsychiatric morbidity was associated with lower QoL in all four groups. In HTN, QoL was significantly lower in one domain, AUT (t=3.95, p<0.001). For DM only, in two, AUT (t=4.35, p<0.001) and DAD (t=6.65, p<0.001). For Arthritis only, in three, SAB (t=6.92, p<0.001), AUT (t=11.46, p<0.001), and PPF (t=4.02, p<0.001). In HTN+DM, in two, SAB (t=5.37, p<0.001) and AUT (t=2.51, p=0.02). This study reported a low QoL in the presence of neuropsychiatric morbidity. The implication of this is the need to be proactive in screening older adults with these physical health conditions for neuropsychiatric morbidity. Their early detection will facilitate timely intervention, which in turn improves the QoL of older adults with chronic medical conditions.

Abstract

Implementing an independent learning curriculum, which started in 2022, mitigates learning lag or loss due to the pandemic. Through the independent learning curriculum, it is hoped that teachers can have autonomy in designing and determining learning to improve performance. This study aims to see the effect of autonomy on performance. The research method uses a quantitative method. The population in this study consisted of high school teachers who implemented the independent learning curriculum in Bandung City using a sampling technique, namely proportional random sampling. Data analysis used descriptive and verification methods using simple regression tests. The study showed that the tcount value of autonomy was 6.154 with a significant value of 0.000, which is smaller than 0.05, so autonomy can directly affect the performance of high school teachers. Unlike previous studies that broadly explored curriculum challenges or teacher roles, this study examines the direct relationship between autonomy and performance in the specific framework of Indonesia’s educational reforms. The findings aim to provide practical insights for policymakers and school leaders to optimize teacher autonomy, thereby supporting the successful implementation of the Independent Learning Curriculum.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between adolescents’ psychological well-being and problem behavior in children in conflict with the law (ABH) in theft cases in the Youth Correctional Center (YCC) Bandung. This research is preliminary to the development of a family function therapy design. The quantitative correlational approach is the research methodology employed in this study. Quota sampling was the sampling method employed. In incidents of theft, the study's sample quota was 36 (ABH). The Difficulty and Strength Questionnaire (KKA) measuring instrument was used to determine the level of difficulty and strength they experienced. Adolescent psychological well-being was measured using the Brief Scale of Psychological Well-Being for Adolescents (BSPWB-A)—Indonesian Version. The method of analysis used for the product-moment Pearson correlation test is the source of the data. The result of this study shows a significant negative correlation between adolescents’ psychological well-being and problem behavior in children in conflict with the law (ABH) in theft cases in YCC Bandung (r = -0.200; p < 0.05). The hypothesis proposed is accepted. The implications of this study are the basis for the development of family functional therapy, which considers adolescents’ psychological well-being as part of family functional therapy to reduce their problematic behavior.

Abstract

This research is a quantitative research with regression approach, that aims to determine the impact of gender role attitudes on marriage attitudes among young adults in Indonesia. It involved 113 participants (M = 20.53), and data were collected using a Google Form that included a gender role attitude scale and a marriage attitude scale. Data analysis was conducted through simple linear regression using SPSS Version 25. The results indicate that gender role attitudes significantly influence marriage attitudes. This suggests that a person's view on gender roles can affect their perception and evaluation of marriage.
