Abstract

This research was conducted to examine the impact of global climate change on oceanographic parameters and its threats to marine ecosystems and coastal life in the Maluku region. The study was carried out through a literature review, utilizing scientific publications indexed in several databases such as Google Scholar, Sinta, DOAJ, and Scopus. The findings indicate that climate change has an effect on rising sea temperatures and sea level rise, which causes marine ecosystems, such as coral reefs, to bleach and leads to a decline in fish catch yields. Other findings show that other oceanographic parameters, such as pH, water currents, and other elements, also change due to global warming. The livelihoods of local communities are affected by the loss of land area caused by rising sea levels.

Abstract

Fishing ports play a crucial role in supporting the sustainability and efficiency of the fisheries system, starting from the process of landing catches to distribution and marketing. This study aims to analyze the impact of fishing port location selection on operational efficiency and sustainability of fisheries resources in Indonesia, using a literature study approach. The results of the study show that proper site selection can reduce logistics costs, improve market access, and encourage coastal economic growth. Conversely, inappropriate locations have the potential to create operational bottlenecks, environmental pollution, and social conflicts. Factors such as water depth, accessibility, environmental conditions, and the involvement of local communities need to be considered comprehensively. An ecosystem-based and participatory approach is key in ensuring that the port built is able to support environmental sustainability and community welfare. Therefore, planning the location of fishing ports should involve multidisciplinary studies that integrate technical, social, environmental, and regulatory aspects to produce effective, inclusive, and sustainable development decisions.

Abstract

fishing activities, especially in islands with limited accessibility such as Tello Island, South Nias Regency. This study aims to analyze the function, role, and development potential of Tello Island Fishing Port in order to strengthen the local fishing sector. The method used is a literature study with a qualitative descriptive approach through secondary data review and field observation. The results show that this port functions as a fish landing center for local fishermen, but various important facilities such as the Fish Auction Site (TPI), cold storage, and fish processing units are severely damaged and have not been repaired. The available ice storage is also unable to meet the daily needs of fishermen. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the development of the fishing port on Tello Island is urgently needed through the improvement of post-harvest facilities, increased storage capacity, and the empowerment of the fishing community. It is recommended that the local government and relevant stakeholders immediately revitalize the port infrastructure to support the sustainability of fisheries and improve the economy of coastal communities.

Abstract

The domestication of Striped Barb (Barbodes sellifer) was conducted at the Bangka Belitung University Hatchery from October  to December, 2025, to determine the fish’s adaptability from their natural habitat to a controlled cultivation environment. The domestication process included catching fish from peat swamp waters, acclimatization, rearing, feeding pellets, and monitoring water quality, growth, and survival. The results showed that the fish were able to adapt gradually, marked by an increase in average weight from 4.83 g to 5.47 g per fish, a specific growth rate of around 1%, and improved acceptance of artificial feed. Water quality parameters remained within the optimal range, namely temperature 27°C, pH 7.21, and DO 8.3 mg/L. The survival rate of 54.83% is considered reasonable for wild fish first reared in a controlled environment. This research provides a scientific basis for the development of sustainable groundfish cultivation in hatcheries and supports the conservation of local species.

Abstract

The Brilliant Rasbora (Rasbora einthovenii) is a local freshwater species from the Bangka Belitung Islands with high potential as an ornamental fish. However, its current utilization still depends on capture from natural habitats. This study aimed to determine the initial domestication stages of R. einthovenii to assess its adaptation to controlled environments and acceptance of artificial feed. The experiment was conducted over 26 days using 30 fish reared in plastic tanks and ad satiation fed using commercial feed. Results showed that the fish began accepting artificial feed on day 4. The SGR, FCR, and SR values were 0.38%, 5.20, and 60%, respectively. Water quality parameters remained within optimal ranges, but improvements in feeding and culture management are necessary to enhance growth and survival rates.
