Abstract

The development of democracy in Indonesia has been marked by the increasing role of non-state actors in political processes, including religious-based mass organizations. From the perspective of political science, religious organizations constitute an integral part of civil society and possess the capacity to influence public policy through social and moral legitimacy. West Java, as a province with a strong religious and social base, represents a strategic arena for the activities of Islamic organizations, one of which is Persatuan Ummat Islam (PUI). This study aims to analyze the role of the Islamic organization PUI in shaping the direction of political policy in West Java. The research employs a qualitative approach using a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, document analysis, and observation. The findings indicate that PUI functions as a non-formal political actor by engaging in policy advocacy, political communication, and the construction of public moral discourse. These findings confirm that Islamic mass organizations constitute an important element of local democracy in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of student character in preventing the increasingly strong national degradation caused by technological developments, social change, and the weakening of national values. Students, as the intellectual generation, have a moral responsibility to maintain the stability of the nation's character through critical, ethical, and national-minded attitudes. A qualitative approach was used to explore the phenomenon of student character based on various literature reviews from 2020–2025. The results indicate that student character formation is influenced by the family environment, campus, organizations, digital media, and spirituality. These factors significantly contribute to strengthening student integrity, thereby preventing moral and social degradation. This study emphasizes that character strengthening cannot be achieved instantly but requires a continuous process involving the active participation of students, educators, and the social environment. With strong character, students have the potential to become agents of change in upholding the nation's noble values and encouraging the creation of a future generation with integrity.

Abstract

This study analyzes the effectiveness of legal protection for children against early marriage in Indonesia, examining the issue through the lenses of human rights and family law. Despite the 2019 amendment to the Marriage Law raising the minimum age to 19, child marriage remains prevalent due to significant regulatory disharmony and judicial loopholes. Employing a normative-juridical method supported by empirical socio-legal data, this research investigates the conflict between the Child Protection Law and other statutes regarding the age of majority. The findings demonstrate that the "marriage dispensation" mechanism, intended for emergencies, is systematically exploited to legitimize underage unions, often driven by unintended pregnancies and parental pressure. Consequently, the state inadvertently facilitates violations of children's rights to development and safety. The study concludes that legal reform alone is inadequate; eradicating child marriage requires a synchronized strategy involving stricter judicial audits on dispensation requests, harmonization of conflicting laws, and comprehensive community engagement to dismantle patriarchal norms. This research underscores the urgency of shifting from a purely regulatory approach to a holistic, victim-centered protection framework that prioritizes the child's best interests.

Abstract

Inheritance law is a crucial aspect of Islamic family law as it concerns the continuation of property rights after a person’s death. In Indonesia, Islamic inheritance law has been formally codified through the Compilation of Islamic Law (KHI), yet in practice, the determination of heirs is often required not only to resolve family disputes but also for administrative purposes such as bank account settlement or insurance claims. This article aims to analyze the application of Islamic inheritance law through the case study of Decision Number 8/Pdt.P/2024/PA.Plk at the Palangka Raya Religious Court regarding a petition for the determination of heirs of a deceased who left behind a wife and children. This study employs a normative juridical approach and library research, with descriptive-analytical methods. The findings indicate that the panel of judges confirmed the wife and three children as legal heirs based on the provisions of the Qur’an, hadith, and Articles 171–177 of the KHI, while ensuring no impediments to inheritance as regulated in Article 173 of the KHI. The ruling aligns with the principles of faraidh and demonstrates that Islamic inheritance law can operate in harmony with Indonesia’s legal system, particularly in providing legal certainty for heirs in administrative matters.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of Kelopo Telu as a representation of Islam Nusantara as well as a form of civilizational memory in Kapu Village, Merakurak District, Tuban Regency. Islam Nusantara is understood as a form of Islamic practice that is adaptive, moderate, and capable of accommodating local culture. This research employs a qualitative method with historical and anthropological approaches. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation, and then analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, with triangulation techniques to ensure data validity. The results show that the da’wah of Kiai Kelopo Telu is reflected in three main aspects: physical traces, socio-cultural practices, and oral traditions. Religious activities at the Kelopo Telu Foundation, such as haul, tahlilan, religious gatherings, and other local traditions, represent the integration of Islamic teachings with local culture. These activities function not only as religious rituals but also as a medium for non-formal Islamic education, strengthening social cohesion, and transmitting values across generations. From the perspective of Islam Nusantara, the religious practices in Kelopo Telu reflect the values of moderation, tolerance, and respect for local traditions. Kelopo Telu also serves as a living collective memory continuously reproduced through social and religious practices. Therefore, Kelopo Telu is not merely a historical site, but also a symbol of a dynamic local Islamic civilization that remains relevant in contemporary society.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has brought changes to the learning patterns and communication styles of students in the modern era. Generation Alpha, as a generation that grew up alongside technology, has distinct characteristics compared to previous generations, particularly in how they receive information, interact, and understand learning. This situation presents unique challenges in teaching Islamic Cultural History (ISH), especially when the learning process still uses conventional methods that are less suited to the characteristics of students in the digital age. On the other hand, ISH learning plays a crucial role in instilling values of tolerance, religious moderation, and respect for cultural diversity in social life. This study aims to examine the challenges of ISH learning for Generation Alpha from a cross-cultural communication perspective. The study employed a literature study method (library research) with a descriptive qualitative approach through a review of various scientific journals, research articles, and other sources relevant to the research topic. The results indicate that differences in communication patterns, digital culture, and learning characteristics of Generation Alpha require more adaptive, interactive, and communicative ISH learning strategies. A cross-cultural communication approach in ISH learning is considered relevant for developing a tolerant, open, and respectful attitude toward differences in a multicultural society. Therefore, Islamic Education (IS) learning needs to be developed through the use of digital media and contextual learning approaches so that Islamic historical values can be more effectively understood by Generation Alpha.

Abstract

The internalization of akhlakul karimah values through Islamic Religious Education learning is an important effort in shaping students’ character amidst the challenges of modern social development. This study aims to describe the implementation of Islamic Religious Education learning in internalizing akhlakul karimah values, explain the role of Islamic Religious Education teachers in instilling these values, and identify the supporting and inhibiting factors in the internalization process among seventh-grade students at MTs Misbahussibyan. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach using observation, interviews, and documentation as data collection techniques. The results indicate that: (1) the internalization of akhlakul karimah values is carried out through Islamic Religious Education learning, religious habituation, advice, teacher role modeling, and religious school activities; (2) Islamic Religious Education teachers act as educators, mentors, motivators, supervisors, and role models in shaping students’ character; and (3) supporting factors include a religious school environment, habituation programs, teacher exemplarity, collaboration among teachers, and school support, while inhibiting factors include peer influence, uncontrolled social media use, lack of parental supervision, and differences in students’ characteristics. This study contributes to the development of Islamic Religious Education learning and student character-building programs in Islamic schools.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the limitations of technology utilization in the evaluation of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning at MTs Annihayah Rawamerta Karawang, identify the factors causing such limitations, analyze their impacts on the evaluation process, and examine teachers' strategies in optimizing learning evaluation. This study employed a qualitative field research approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving PAI teachers. Data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the use of technology in PAI learning evaluation is still limited due to pesantren policies restricting students from using personal electronic devices. Consequently, most evaluation activities are conducted through written tests, oral tests, assignments, and observation. These limitations affect the efficiency of evaluation, feedback delivery, and the variety of assessment instruments. However, teachers continue to optimize evaluation through authentic assessment, continuous observation, varied assignments, and the utilization of available school facilities. The study concludes that the quality of learning evaluation is determined not only by technology use but also by teachers’ ability to design and implement appropriate assessment strategies.
