Abstract

Background: Integrating modern contraceptive education during antenatal care is essential to promote the uptake of postpartum family planning (PPFP), potentially reducing the risk of unintended pregnancies and closely spaced births. Objective: This study aimed to assess the knowledge of third-trimester pregnant women before and after receiving an educational module on PPFP in the working area of the Mangarabombang Health Center, Takalar Regency. Methods: This primary study employed a descriptive quantitative design with a pre-post approach. A total of 62 third-trimester pregnant women were selected through total sampling. A structured questionnaire was used to measure knowledge before and after intervention, with validity and reliability confirmed in prior studies. Results: Prior to the intervention, 70.96% of respondents had poor knowledge, 19.35% moderate, and 9.67% good. After receiving the educational module, 43.54% had good knowledge, 50% moderate, and 6.45% poor. Improvements were noted across age, education level, and parity groups. Conclusion: Educational modules effectively improved PPFP knowledge among pregnant women. However, older mothers, those with lower education, and higher parity tended to retain lower knowledge levels. It is recommended to provide targeted counseling for these groups.

Abstract

Background: Patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis require continuous treatment to maintain life expectancy. Beyond physical care, these patients also need psychological, social, and spiritual support, which aligns with the principles of palliative care. Dhikr therapy, as a form of spiritual intervention, may improve patients' quality of life by reducing psychological distress and enhancing spiritual well-being. Objective: This study aimed to examine the effect of dhikr therapy on the quality of life of patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis at Labuang Baji Hospital, Makassar. Methods:  This quasi-experimental study employed a pretest-posttest design without a control group. A total of 30 respondents were selected using purposive sampling. Quality of life was measured using the WHOQOL-BREF instrument. Dhikr therapy was provided in four sessions over two weeks. Data were analyzed using paired sample t-test with a significance level of α = 0.05. Results: The influence test used was a paired sample t test, with a significance level of α<0.05. The results of this study show that there is an effect of dhikr therapy on the quality of life of chronic kidney failure patients undergoing hemodialysis at Labuang Baji Hospital Makassar. Conclusion: Dhikr therapy has a significant positive effect on improving the quality of life of patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis. It is recommended that spiritual interventions such as dhikr be integrated into routine care for hemodialysis patients as part of holistic nursing practice.

Abstract

Background: Early marriage remains a critical public health issue that exposes adolescents to increased risks of infection, pregnancy complications, miscarriage, and even mortality. These risks are often exacerbated by limited access to health education among adolescents, especially in rural areas. Health education plays a vital role in promoting physical, psychological, social, and economic well-being. Objective: This study aimed to determine the effect of health education on adolescent knowledge and attitudes regarding early marriage. Methods: This research utilized a pre-experimental approach with a one group pretest-posttest. The sampling technique was Stratified random sampling. The respondents in this study were 48 respondents. The questionnaire used in this study was a questionnaire on knowledge about early marriage and attitudes towards early marriage. Analysis of test used was the Wilcoxon test. Results: There was an effect of health education on adolescent knowledge about early marriage with a significant value of 0.000 (p<0.05). There was an effect of health education on adolescent attitudes about early marriage with a significant value of 0.001 (p <0.05). Conclusion: Health education about early marriage affects the knowledge and attitudes of adolescents with the hope that adolescents will be able to have a positive attitude if there is a desire to marry at an early age to prevent various impacts that may occur.

Abstract

Background: The elderly population experiences gradual physical, mental, and social decline, increasing vulnerability to degenerative diseases such as hypertension. Elevated blood pressure in older adults is often associated with poor lifestyle choices, inadequate physical activity, poor dietary habits, stress, and sleep disturbances. Objective: This study aimed to examine the relationship between stress levels and sleep quality with the incidence of hypertension among elderly individuals in Nenggung Village, within the Masbagik Health Center's working area Methods: A cross-sectional correlational design was used. The sample consisted of elderly individuals selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using standardized questionnaires: the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) to measure stress levels, the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) to assess sleep quality, and medical records to confirm hypertension status. The Spearman rank correlation test was used to analyze the relationships between variables. Results: The analysis revealed a significant positive correlation between stress level and hypertension incidence (p = 0.002; r = 0.495), indicating a moderately strong relationship. A significant correlation was also found between sleep quality and hypertension incidence (p = 0.007; r = 0.448), suggesting that poor sleep quality is moderately associated with increased hypertension risk. Conclusion: Higher stress levels and poor sleep quality are significantly associated with the incidence of hypertension in the elderly. Preventive measures such as regular health monitoring, stress management, and promoting better sleep hygiene are recommended to reduce hypertension risk in this population.

Abstract

Background: Diabetes mellitus is the most common disease that causes other diseases or complications, one of which is gangrene.  In connection with the spread of the corona virus-19, this can worsen the health of people with diabetes mellitus if they experience complications, one of which is gangrene.  With that, Clean and Healthy Lifestyle plays a very important role in the daily life of people with diabetes mellitus during the corona virus-19 pandemic to prevent gangrene. Researchers provide interventions in the form of education on clean and healthy living behavior in patients with diabetes mellitus. Objective: This study aims to determine the effect of education on clean and healthy living behavior in patients with diabetes mellitus on the incidence of gangrene during the corona virus-19 pandemic. Methods: This research was conducted with a pre-experimental approach with the One Group Pretest-Postest Design.  The sample used is 58 respondents with stratified random sampling technique. Analysis of the data used is the Mc Nemar test. Results: Based on statistical tests using the Mc Nemar test, the value of p-value or significant is 0.004 <0.05 which means there is an effect of education on clean and healthy living behavior in diabetes mellitus patients on the incidence of gangrene during the corona virus-19 pandemic. Conclusion: Education on clean and healthy behavior positively influenced diabetes mellitus patients in preventing gangrene during the COVID-19 pandemic. The intervention encouraged improved self-care practices, particularly in foot care, hygiene, and lifestyle management, thereby reducing the risk of complications. These findings highlight the importance of integrating preventive education into diabetes care, especially during public health crises.
