Abstract

Background: Exclusive breastfeeding is a global initiative to ensure healthy growth from an early age. Colostrum, the first breast milk, provides essential nutrients and immunity support, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030. Objective: To describe the knowledge of postpartum mothers about colostrum before and after health education. Methods: This study used a pretest–posttest design without a control group. Results: Before the intervention, 5 respondents (16.6%) had good knowledge, while 16 respondents (53.4%) had poor knowledge. After health education, 17 respondents (56.6%) demonstrated good knowledge, and only 3 respondents (10.1%) remained in the poor knowledge category. Conclusion: Health education significantly improved postpartum mothers’ knowledge about colostrum.

Abstract

Background: Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disorder characterized by hyperglycemia, which occurs due to impaired insulin secretion, insulin resistance, or both. Poor dietary adherence in type 2 DM patients increases the risk of complications and worsens quality of life. Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between health worker support for the dietary adherence of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients. Methods: This was an analytical survey with a cross-sectional design involving 67 respondents, determined using the Lemeshow formula. Inclusion criteria were patients diagnosed with type 2 DM by a physician, aged >18 years, and willing to participate, while exclusion criteria included patients unable to communicate and pregnant or breastfeeding women. Health worker support was measured using a validated questionnaire by Rafdinal (2019) (16 items, Cronbach’s α = 0.871), and dietary adherence was assessed using the Dietary Behavior Questionnaire (DBQ) (Aklima, Kritpracha, & Thaniwattananon, 2013) consisting of 16 items (Cronbach’s α = 0.82). Data were analyzed using Chi-square. Results: The study found a significant relationship between health worker support and dietary adherence in type 2 DM patients (p = 0.004). Patients who reported high health worker support were more likely to achieve moderate to high dietary adherence (72%) compared to those with low support (38%). Conclusion: Health worker support significantly influences dietary adherence among type 2 DM patients. Strengthening structured health education, counseling, and collaboration with families is recommended to improve patient compliance and prevent long-term complications.

Abstract

Background: Based on data from the Medical Records of patients in the ICCU (Intensive Cardiology Care Unit) of dr. Soehadi Prijonegoro Hospital, Sragen, the number of new patients increased from 388 in 2023 to 537 in 2024 (38.4%). The death rate in the ICCU Room from January to December 2024 was 102 people (18.9%). A preliminary survey showed that 7 out of 10 patient families (70%) experienced anxiety symptoms. To date, slow deep breathing and dhikr have not been applied by patient families to reduce anxiety. The combination of dhikr and slow deep breathing is a therapy that can relieve anxiety. Objective: This study aimed to determine the effect of the combination of slow deep breathing and dhikr on anxiety levels in families of patients in the ICCU Room of dr. Soehadi Prijonegoro Hospital, Sragen. Methods: This study used a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design (one-group pretest–posttest). The sample consisted of 41 families of ICCU patients, selected using a purposive sampling technique. The instrument used was the HARS (Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale) questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. Results: The statistical test results showed a significant effect of the combination of slow deep breathing and dhikr on family anxiety levels in the ICCU Room of dr. Soehadi Prijonegoro The combination of slow deep breathing and dhikr effectively reduced anxiety among patient families in the ICCU Room of dr. Soehadi Prijonegoro Hospital, Sragen, and may be considered as a complementary approach in anxiety management.

Abstract

Background: Stress is a common part of student life due to various academic and personal demands. Academic stress, if not properly managed, can negatively impact sleep, a vital physiological process that supports physical, psychological, social, and cognitive functions. Objective: This study aimed to examine the relationship between academic stress and sleep quality among nursing students. Methods: An analytical descriptive study with a cross-sectional design was conducted among 51 nursing students from the class of 2024 at the Indonesian Muslim University. Academic stress and sleep quality were measured using validated questionnaires, and data were analyzed using the Chi-square test. Results: Among respondents, 33 students (64.7%) with mild academic stress reported poor sleep quality, while 10 students (19.6%) with mild stress had good sleep quality. Eight students (15.7%) with severe academic stress reported poor sleep quality, and no respondents with severe stress reported good sleep quality. Statistical analysis showed a significant association between academic stress and sleep quality (χ², p = 0.000 < 0.05). Conclusion: Academic stress is significantly associated with sleep quality among nursing students at the Indonesian Muslim University. It is recommended that students receive education on stress management strategies to reduce academic stress and its negative impact on sleep.

Abstract

Background: Pain management is one of the essential competencies that nursing students should possess. However, knowledge in this area remains suboptimal. One of the media that can be utilized to enhance education is the Quick Response (QR) Code, which enables quick, flexible, and repeated access to materials, thereby potentially improving students’ understanding of pain management. Objective: This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of QR Code–based educational media in improving nursing students’ knowledge of pain management Methods: This study employed a pre-experimental design with a pretest–posttest one-group approach. The sampling technique used was a total sampling technique, involving 25 respondents. Results: The findings indicated that the effectiveness of QR Code–based educational media in improving nursing students’ knowledge of pain management was mostly in the good category. However, despite having good knowledge, students still need improvement in practical skills and attitudes. Conclusion: Nursing students’ knowledge of pain management after receiving education through QR Code–based media falls into the good category. However, several aspects still need improvement, such as practical skills and professional attitudes, through training such as simulations and practice integrated into the nursing curriculum.
