Abstract

The phenomenon of the Indonesian migrant worker diaspora has posed a theological and pastoral challenge for the contemporary church. Human mobility across borders not only creates social and economic change but also shakes the traditional understanding of the church as a community bound by space and institutions. In this context, diaspora ecclesiology offers a reflective framework for understanding the church's presence amidst the migration and separation of its people. The church is called to reinterpret its identity as the universal, dynamic body of Christ, transcending geographical and cultural boundaries. The Eucharist, or Holy Communion, is a central symbol in shaping diasporic spirituality. Amid isolation and longing for home, communion offers an experience of communion that transcends physical distance. Through communion, migrants rediscover their identity as part of the one body of Christ, despite being scattered across various countries and under diverse working conditions. The Eucharist becomes a concrete manifestation of God's presence in the experience of human mobility and a reminder that God accompanies His people throughout their journey. In this pastoral reality, ministry to diaspora communities demands a new, transnational model. The church can no longer focus solely on those who remain, but also on those who are mobile and on the move. Transnational pastoral practice presupposes interchurch networks, the use of digital media, and ecumenical collaboration to reach people in destination countries. Online services, virtual masses, and online prayer communities are new forms of communion that reflect the face of both the digital and diaspora church. This approach also contains social and ethical dimensions. The church is not only called to serve spiritually but also to fight for justice for migrant workers who often experience exploitation and structural injustice. In this regard, the theology of migration becomes a theology of liberation that sides with those who are excluded and marginalized. A church that lives in solidarity with migrants displays the face of Christ present among the little people, who seek refuge and hope in a foreign land. This research methodology uses a qualitative-theological approach with literature study and contextual reflection. Various academic literature, church documents, and the empirical experiences of diaspora communities serve as data sources for reinterpreting the concept of the church in the context of globalization and migration. The analysis is conducted through theological hermeneutics to discover the spiritual and ecclesiological meaning of communion, migration, and transnational pastoral practice. This research is expected to contribute to the development of contextual ecclesiology in Indonesia, particularly in facing the dynamics of globalization and cross-border movements of people. The Church is expected to be an open, inclusive, and adaptive space to changing times, without losing the essence of its calling as the one body of Christ. Thus, the ecclesiology of the migrant worker diaspora reflects faith in God who continues to accompany His people on every journey, both at home and abroad.

Abstract

The Book of Micah presents the face of God who stands for justice and rejects all forms of social, economic, and political oppression. In the context of the Indonesian nation still bearing the social wounds of historical violence and injustice, Micah's prophetic message presents a relevant and urgent prophetic voice. This study aims to explore the meaning of the prophecy of justice in the Book of Micah and to formulate a biblical-pastoral roadmap for the Indonesian church in the post-violence reconciliation process. The study was conducted using a theological hermeneutic approach and contextual pastoral reflection, combining the study of biblical texts with the concrete experiences of the Indonesian people. Theologically, Micah presents a vision of God that demands social justice as a manifestation of true faith. The call to “do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with God” (Micah 6:8) serves as an ethical and spiritual foundation for the church seeking to build a peaceful society. In the post-violence context, this message is not merely moral but also prophetic—demanding structural repentance and the renewal of social systems that perpetuate suffering. Thus, Micah's prophetic theology can form the basis for reconciliation practices that balance justice and forgiveness. This research demonstrates that true reconciliation cannot be separated from acknowledging the suffering of victims and the responsibility of perpetrators. The Indonesian Church, in its pastoral role, is called to be a space of recognition, healing, and social transformation. Micah's prophecy affirms that true peace is not the result of political compromise, but rather the fruit of justice upheld with love. The church needs to live out its prophetic role by speaking up for the voiceless and upholding the values of God's love that transcend ethnic, religious, and ideological boundaries. Furthermore, this research underscores the importance of a biblical-pastoral approach in building a healthy collective memory in post-violence societies. Through transformative biblical and liturgical study, the church can help people reinterpret traumatic experiences in the light of God's love. In this regard, Micah is not only a prophet of the past but also a dialogue partner for the church today in upholding justice and reconciliation. By reading Micah contextually, the church can develop a theology of peace rooted in biblical narratives and relevant to the Indonesian context. The findings of this study are expected to contribute to the development of a contextual theology of peace in Indonesia, particularly in formulating concrete pastoral measures for communities affected by violence. The church is invited not to be merely a spectator in social processes, but to become an agent of renewal that affirms communal life. Following Micah's example, the church is called to speak out for justice for the marginalized.witness to God's healing love and bring about reconciliation based on truth. Thus, Micah's prophecy serves as an inspiration and spiritual roadmap for the Indonesian church to build a peaceful, just, and hopeful society.

Abstract

The Christian Church in Indonesia often faces challenges in fully including people with disabilities—both in worship, ministry, and faith communities. This article aims to develop a theological framework for disability that moves from a paradigm of mercy to a paradigm of active participation, with the conceptual foundation that all human beings—including people with disabilities—are imago Dei (the image of God). Using a practical-contextual theology approach, this research examines the local church context in Indonesia, analyzes biblical literature and Christian theological traditions, and examines field studies on inclusion in worship and ministry for congregations with disabilities. The results of the study indicate that in many church communities, people with disabilities are still treated merely as objects of mercy or altruistic service, rather than as subjects of faith with equal rights and responsibilities. This is rooted in the paradigm of normalism and the social stigma against “disability.” Through biblical reading (including stories of Jesus involving people with disabilities) and theological reflection on the imago Dei, this article asserts that people with disabilities must be seen as full participants in worship, church life, and missionary service. The proposed theological framework consists of three main components: recognition of dignity, active participation, and community transformation. First, the recognition of dignity means that people with disabilities possess spiritual dignity and identity in Christ that is not diminished by physical or mental conditions. Second, active participation requires changes in church structures, liturgy, and ministries so that inclusivity becomes real—not merely symbolic. Third, community transformation focuses on renewing congregational culture to truly embrace diversity as part of the body of Christ. These findings confirm that disability theology is not merely a social or pastoral theme, but an integral part of Christian theology that reflects the reality of salvation and an inclusive community of faith. Thus, the local church in Indonesia is invited to reject passive compassion and replace it with a theological and practical commitment to true inclusion. This article contributes to the development of a practical theology oriented toward justice, participation, and human dignity in diverse ecclesial contexts.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has brought about profound changes in all aspects of human life, including the faith and spirituality of Christians. Amidst the rapid advancement of information and communication, many believers are faced with a new challenge: how to maintain closeness to God in a world filled with digital distractions. Millennials, as the most active group online, now find themselves at a crossroads between the depth of their faith and the often-tempting ease of access to the digital world. In this context, Christian faith faces both a test and an opportunity. The digital world can be a new field for spreading the Gospel, a place where God's word can reach many people without the constraints of time and space. Through social media, spiritual podcasts, digital worship songs, and various other online platforms, Christians can expand their ministry and fellowship like never before. Many young people find spiritual encouragement through online sermons, digital daily devotions, and online prayer communities, which serve as a source of encouragement in living their faith. However, on the other hand, the digital world also presents serious challenges to spiritual maturity. The uncontrolled flow of information, content oriented towards worldly pleasures, and an instant culture often erode time for prayer and meditation on the Word. Many Christians are becoming busy virtually, but spiritually dry. This phenomenon demonstrates that faith in the digital age requires discipline and wisdom to balance the use of technology with a deep spiritual life. True Christian faith remains rooted in a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, not in external forms, but in a heart that is willing to learn, pray, and love amidst changing times. The digital world should not be a barrier, but rather a means to bring the light of Christ further to various corners of the globe. By using technology wisely, Christians can make the digital age a new platform for growing in faith, expanding their ministry, and bearing witness to God's love in a modern world thirsting for truth.

Abstract

The advent of digital technology has brought about significant changes in various aspects of human life, including the faith life of Christians and the role of the church as a spiritual institution. On the one hand, the church is faced with the challenge of upholding centuries-old values and traditions of faith. However, on the other hand, the church is also challenged to adapt to technological advances to remain relevant in a fast-paced and digital world. This study aims to examine how the church can maintain a balance between sacred faith traditions and ever-evolving digital innovations. Through theological reflection and a descriptive-qualitative approach, the study finds that church digitalization offers significant opportunities for expanding ministry, strengthening congregational communication, and reaching new believers. However, if not balanced with spiritual depth and liturgical discipline, the church risks losing the meaning of the sanctity of worship and true spiritual intimacy. The study confirms that the key to facing this crossroads of time is spiritual wisdom—the church's ability to utilize technology without sacrificing the truth of the Gospel and fidelity to the faith tradition inherited from the apostles.
