Abstract

Gender and age are one of the factors that can affect dengue disease. Many cases occur in the community with an age range of 15-45 years. Males are often found because they have activities outside the home when the vector that causes DHF is actively biting during the day. The number of DHF patients in Bandar Lampung City in 2022 was 1,440 patients, having an IR of 130.1 per 100,000 population. The number of cases has increased from 2021, which was 623 patients with an IR of 57.2 per 100,000 population. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of gender and age on the incidence of DHF in Bandar Lampung City. This study used a case control design and used the chi square test. By using a sampling technique that is using Stratified Random Sampling. To calculate the sample in each section using the Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling technique. This research tool uses questionnaire sheets and checklist sheets. The population of this study were DHF patients in 2022 in Bandar Lampung City. The research sample was 154 respondents with 77 cases and 77 controls. There was no influence between gender (p=1.000) on the incidence of DHF in Bandar Lampung City. There was an effect of age (p=0.000, OR=5,211) on the incidence of DHF in Bandar Lampung City.

Abstract

The increased use of social media in health promotion enables wider public outreach and engagement. This study aims to analyze factors affecting public engagement with TikTok content posted by the Indonesian Ministry of Health on the official account @kemenkesri. Using a quantitative content analysis of 184 videos from January 2023 to June 2024, data was collected through web scraping and analyzed using negative binomial regression. The independent variables examined included video duration, title length, video theme, type, and dialogue flow, while engagement was measured through likes, comments, and shares. The findings reveal that title length (p < 0.001), video theme (p = 0.004), type (p < 0.01), and dialogue flow (p < 0.05) positively influenced engagement, while video duration had a significant negative effect (p < 0.05). These results indicate that brief, visually engaging, and interactive content can significantly enhance audience interaction with health messages. This study provides recommendations for optimizing digital health communication strategies on social media to effectively convey health information to a broad audience.

Abstract

Tobacco use among adolescents remains a serious public health concern, especially in developing countries like Indonesia. This study aims to evaluate the impact of a school-based smoking cessation program on students' knowledge, attitudes, and smoking behavior in Gresik. A quasi-experimental design with pre-test and post test was applied to 142 high school students, divided into experimental and control groups. The intervention included educational sessions, discussions, and practical tools for quitting smoking. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test, revealing significant improvements across all measured variables: knowledge (p = 0.000), attitudes (p = 0.000), and smoking behavior (p = 0.000). The findings demonstrate the program’s effectiveness in increasing awareness about the dangers of smoking, promoting negative attitudes toward smoking, and reducing cigarette consumption among participants. These results indicate the potential of school-based interventions to produce meaningful behavioral change in adolescents. The study contributes to public health knowledge by highlighting the importance of targeted, structured programs in reducing smoking prevalence among youth and suggests the need for broader implementation and long-term follow-up strategies to maintain positive outcomes.

Abstract

The internet has become an essential source of information for adolescents, especially when it comes to accessing information about reproductive and sexual health. However, inadequate access to accurate reproductive and sexual health information, minimal parental supervision, and a culture that considers sexuality a taboo topic make adolescents vulnerable to misinformation and risky behavior. The absence of sex education in schools and limited access to reproductive health services further exacerbate this problem. On the other hand, the SDG 2030 target emphasizes universal access to reproductive health information and services. This study focuses on how high school students understand and evaluate reproductive and sexual health information from the internet and the factors that influence their access and interpretation. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design. Informants were selected using purposive sampling and snowball sampling techniques. The research subjects were students from SMK X and SMA Y Semarang. In this study, saturation was achieved in the 10th interview with the primary informants (students aged 15-19 years) with an interview duration of 30-45 minutes per informant. In addition, there were four triangulations of teachers and two triangulations of close friends. Data analysis was performed using thematic analysis with NVivo 12 software. The results show that the internet is the primary source of reproductive and sexual health information for adolescents, but their ability to sort information is still limited. Cultural barriers, conservative norms, and generational gaps hinder open communication, while family and school support remain weak. There is a need to integrate SRH material into the curriculum, train teachers, and improve adolescents' digital literacy through collaboration between families, schools, and communities.

Abstract

The Waste from chemistry practical activities is classified as Hazardous and Toxic Materials (B3). B3 waste must undergo processing because it can seep into the soil and potentially damage groundwater quality and health risks to the public. High levels of Copper (Cu) are toxic and accumulate in vital organs, affecting human health. The importance of wastewater treatment efforts in laboratories. Utilizing Cayenne pineapple peels as a waste treatment medium has economic value. Cayenne pineapple skin is high in potassium and acids, which can precipitate Cu. The aim of the research is to reduce the concentration of Cu in liquid waste using pineapple peel extract. Methods: Experimental research with Cuprum parameters using spectrophotometry and Total Plate Count (TPC). Results: Pineapple peel extract is capable of reducing copper levels (sig. 0,047;BF 44,75), meaning there is a difference in the addition of pineapple peel extract with copper levels. Extract 10% pineapple peel (30%). Extract 20% pineapple peel (5%-48%). Extract 30% pineapple peel (6%-29%). Extract 40% pineapple peel (74%). The addition of a 50% pineapple peel (20%-71%). The results of the pineapple skin extract's effect on the reduction of germ counts show a not significant difference in the laboratory wastewater samples.

This will undoubtedly impact the quality of life for schizophrenia patients. The aim of this study is to evaluate mental health services, focusing on family experiences, stigmatization, and role of community health workers in schizophrenia cases in Semarang City. The research design used a qualitative descriptive phenomenological, employing in-depth interviews and purposive sampling, along with triangulation from several informants, including the experiences of families of people with mental disorders, cadres staff, and collaboration with the Social Affairs Department. Data analysis techniques used thematic analysis based on the CIPP model, using NVivo 15 software. The results showed that mental health services in Semarang had a positive impact on schizophrenia. However, there is still need to strengthen aspects of resources, cross-sector involvement, and anti-stigma strategies. Sustained collaborative interventions are needed to ensure the holistic quality of life for patients and their families.
