Salingka, P-ISSN: 0216-1389, E-ISSN: 2615-3963 is a journal that publishes results of research focus on Identity in language and literature studies. This is including theoretical linguistics, applied linguistics, interdisciplinary linguistics, oral tradition, philology, semiotics, pure literature, applied literature, interdisciplinary literature, also literature and identity politics. Salingka is published twice a year, in August and December. Each article published in Salingka will undergo the assessment process by peer reviewers. Focuses on publishing the original research articles, review articles from contributors, and the current issues related to language and literature education, linguistics and literature specifically related to era 4.0. The main objective of Bahasa: Jurnal Keilmuan Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia is to provide a platform for the international scholars, academicians, and researchers to share contemporary thoughts in the fields. It also aims to promote interdisciplinary studies in language, language teaching, linguistics, and literature thus become the leading international journal in language, language teaching, linguistics, and literature in the world.

Abstract

The longer traditional unity and measures using hands and the rarer used by villagers because they have used the modern one which have high accuracy, precision, and low margin error.Because of that, this study is aimed to find out the traditional unity and measures using hands which is still used by Kinari Villagers in Solok Regency with descriptive qualitative methodthrough observation, field note, open-ended interview to some informen. The data are analyzed with triangulation by direct division-share technique. The result of this research shows thatthere are two kinds of measures and unity: first is for measuring length, such as dapo, eto, jangka, jari,and rueh: second is for measuring volume, such as ganggam, binjek, kauik, kapa,pacik, sauek, suok, culiak, paluak, and patiak. In conclusion, the traditional measures and unity are only used by the old generation, and the young generation use the modren one which has high precision, accuracy and low margin error.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the type of oral literature living in the Baduy community, as well as the functions and values contained therein. This study used James Danandjaya’s folklore theory. Data collection was conducted by using a combination of field tecnics (interviews and record) and libraries.The data analysis is performed at the word level and the fabric of words. Furthermore, the interpretation on getting the message,  meaning and function was preceded with transcription and trasliteration data. This study has invented some oral literatures living in Baduy, some of them are pitutur(Baduy people’s history or narrative story); pikukuh (custom rules that must be adhered by people inside Baduy and outside Baduy); and tanda basa (utterances spoken for approximately ten to fifteen minutes by an  interpreter (called juru basa) in a certain traditional ceremonies). Based on the results of the data analysis, it revealed, hat the function of oral literature in Baduy are as a means of cultural ratification, as the enforcement of coercive social norms, as a social control, and as an education for their children. Meanwhile, the value contained inside them are the value of honesty, decency, and compliance.

Abstract

This research discusses about the structure of Buginese folklore Cenrana Aju Maddara Tau by antropological literary approach. The purposes of this research are 1) to describe the stuctureand content of Cenrana Aju Maddara Tau folktale; 2) to talk the Buginese culture in Cenrana Aju Maddara Tau folktale. The oral literature as Cenrana Aju Maddara Tau folktale, can beanalyzed by two perspectives, as a fiction and as a culture artefact. As a fiction, structuralism theory was used for analyzing about its characters, theme, settings, plot, and point of view inthe story. On the other hand, as a culture artefact, it was analyzed by antropological literary. Its results, as structurally, Cenrana Aju Maddara Tau folktale composed by characters, theme, settings, plot, and point of view. As antropological literary approach, by that story we can know about Buginese people antropologically.

Abstract

So far, study on language and gender usually focuses on adults. The fact that the study doesnot cover adolescents yet underlies this study. This descriptive-qualitative writing aims at describingthe linguistic and nonlinguistic aspect of children language in use from both linguistic and gender perspective. The data were taken from kindergarten students in Padang who belong to middle-low level. The data were collected through observation,  questionnaire, and speech recording. Then, the data were analyzed by using distribution method with mark readingtechnique and matching method with pragmatic technique. This research found that use of children’s language has differences between the male and female students, although it wasnot striking. The language differences can be seen from the diction or choice of word, interjection, and intonation.

Abstract

Skow language is one of local language in Papua Province which relatively has less speaker. This language is spoken by people who live in village of Skou Mabo, Skou Yambe, and Skou Sae. Skou language is used in border territory of Indonesia and Papua New Guinea. This writing discused about Skou language that based on morphosyntac reviewed. The aim of this reseach is to describe verb morphosyntac of Skou language. This writing uses descriptive method with three stages, namely, collecting data stage, analyzing data stage, and presenting the result of analysis data stage. The data, in this writing, was collected by using interview method (metode cakap) through stimulation technique (teknik pancing) as a basic technique while face-to-face interview (cakap semuka) and noting technique (teknik catat) as advanced techniques. The basic data of this reseach are the data of interview result which used instrument, while the supported data are taken from works of Donohue. Then, data analyzing used translational subtype of  equivalent method (metode padan). The result shows that verb morphosyntax Skou language is a kind of language whith extremely rigid verbal agreement. Verbal agreement in Skou language consists of 1) personae, 2) number, and 3) gender. Pattern of active-transitive sentence in Skow language is SOV, while its intransitive  sentences of Skou language pattern is S(S)V with OSV and (S)OSV variants. Skou language is an ergative language.

Abstract

This research investigates social hegemony in Anindita S. Thyaf’s Tanah Tabu. This novel reveals social class changes among people in Baliem Valley, Papua since gold mining corporation started operating at this area. Using Gramsci’s theory of hegemony and feminism, this paper analyze the process of social hegemony around people in Baliem Valley. The step ofanalysis started by examined carefully the corporation’s method to get people sympathy for the corporation’s existence. Furthermore, analyzing continuous to social cultural changes asthe impact of hegemony superiority of corporation. Analyzing shows that the process of hegemony done by recognition new things, caring of children and doctrination about the importance of corporation for people. Even education doctrine toward women also strictly was given. As the result of these perfect method to hegemony people in Baliem Valley, the corporation successfully subordinate them. Hegemony successfully changes the life style of people in Baliem Valley.

Abstract

This paper aims to describe the structure of a single sentence predicated verbal role N- prefixed in Balinese language. Data writing is taken from textbooks Balinese, Bali speaking story, and intuition authors as speakers of Bali. Data single sentence predicated verbal prefixed Ncollected by methods referto the technical note. Data in the form of a single sentence predicated verbal prefixed N recorded in the data card. Furthermore, the data were analyzed by the method of distributional who assisted with this reference technique and technique of substitution. Data that has been analyzed and then presented with formal and informal methods. Based on data analysis, in Balinese predicate prefixed N- which is one type of active sentence has some structure, roles, ie agentive-active, active-agentive-objective, agentiveactive-locative, agentive-active-receptive, agentive-active- benefactive-objective, agentiveactive-objective-locative, agentive-active-objective-receptive, agentive-active-receptiveobjective, agentive-active-locative-instrumental, and agentive-active-instrumental-locative.

Abstract

This study is aimed to discuss euphemism in Minangkabau speech spoken by Sungayang people that recently has begun to reduce, especially among young generation. The methodused is descriptive qualitative with deep interview (triangulation) to some informen (recording) dan fieldnote technique. Then, the data were analyzed by matching, distributing reference, interpreting, and ortography-method. The result shows there are three forms of euphemism: mistic, taboo, dan social. The mistic euphemisme is inyiak, dubili, and pauni. Then, taboo euphemism is kaduik, susu, indak sumbahyang, baintaian, and buntiang. Social euphemisme is makanlah (tuak), gadih, dukuang, licin, buruak, duto, iku, lah dak ulu, and ndak banuni. In conclusion, there are three forms of euphemisme found, they are mistic, taboo, and social euphemisme in Minangkabau speech by Sungayang people.
