Abstract

Background: Interreligious conflict is a social phenomenon inseparable from the dynamics of multicultural society. This conflict is often rooted in differences in religious interpretation, political interests, socio-economic inequality, and is amplified by the dissemination of provocati ve information through mass media and social media. Objective: This study aims to analyze the factors causing interreligious conflict in Indonesia and examine effective resolution and reconciliation strategies for building peace between religious communities.Method: The research method used is a qualitative approach with library research. Findings and Implications: The results indicate that interreligious dialogue, peace education, the role of religious leaders, and the implementation of restorative justice and inclusive state policies are important elements in reducing the potential for conflict and building sustainable social reconciliation. This research is expected to serve as a reference in developing conflict resolution strategies based on religious values, humanity, and social justice. Conclusion: Despite the growing body of literature on interreligious conflict in Indonesia, previous studies have tended to examine causal factors or resolution strategies in isolation, without systematically integrating the structural, communicative, and reconciliatory dimensions into a unified analytical framework. This study addresses that gap by synthesizing these multidimensional perspectives within the Indonesian socio-religious context.

Abstract

Background: The Qur’an, as the primary source of Islamic teachings, contains both explicit (manṭūq) and implicit (mafhūm) meanings. An imbalance in understanding these two dimensions often leads to rigid textualism or speculative interpretation, posing significant challenges in contemporary Qur’anic hermeneutics. Objective: This article aims to analyze the typological structures of manṭūq and mafhūm within the Ulumul Qur’an tradition, explain the relationship between lafaz (wording) and hikmah (wisdom) from the perspective of explicit and implicit meaning and examine the implications of this integrative understanding for Islamic education, character formation, social life, and spiritual development. Method: This study employs a qualitative library research design with a descriptive-analytical approach, utilizing thematic-conceptual analysis of classical and contemporary Ulumul Qur’an literature and tafsir works. Results: Explicit meaning (manṭūq) functions as a normative basis and methodological boundary for interpretation, while implicit meaning (mafhūm) represents the wisdom and substantive purpose of the Qur’an. Their integration yields an authentic and contextual understanding. Findings and Implications: This integrative hermeneutical framework supports holistic Islamic education, value-based character formation, socially just communities, and deeper spiritual life. The novelty of this study lies in its systematic linkage of the manṭūq-mafhūm dichotomy with the lafaz-hikmah relationship as a unified methodological principle for authentic and contextual Qur’anic interpretation. Conclusion: The study concludes that integrating the manṭūq–mafhūm framework with the relationship between lafaz and hikmah provides a comprehensive hermeneutical principle that bridges textual authenticity and contextual relevance.

Abstract

Background; Modern society is increasingly characterized by materialism and consumerism, which often lead to a spiritual crisis and a loss of meaning in life. In response, Buddhist asceticism and Islamic zuhud are often proposed as ethical alternatives. However, both are frequently misunderstood as purely anti-worldly or escapist doctrines. Objectives: This study aims to analyze and compare the conceptual and philosophical foundations, as well as the ethical and social implications, of asceticism in Buddhism and zuhud in Islam. Method: It employs a qualitative library research method with a comparative-analytical approach, examining primary scriptures and relevant academic literature.Result: The findings show that although both traditions emphasize self-control, they differ in their ontological foundations. Buddhist asceticism represents a non-theistic path toward liberation from suffering (dukkha). In contrast, Islamic zuhud is a theocentric practice that prioritizes the hereafter without neglecting worldly responsibilities. In practice, Buddhist asceticism tends to be institutionalized within monastic life, whereas zuhud functions as a flexible inner attitude applicable across social roles. Conclusion: This study concludes that both concepts offer a corrective framework against modern materialism and provide spiritual pathways toward a balanced and meaningful life.Implication: These findings contribute to interfaith dialogue and deepen the understanding of comparative spirituality.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has significantly transformed Islamic communication practices, particularly in the context of da’wah. Traditionally conducted through physical platforms, da’wah has increasingly shifted toward digital media, creating new opportunities for interaction and community formation. This study aims to analyze da’wah communication strategies and their role in shaping Muslim communities in the digital era. The research employs a qualitative approach using a literature-based design, involving the systematic review and conceptual analysis of scholarly works related to digital religion and communication. The findings reveal that effective digital da’wah communication is characterized by three main dimensions: message personalization, interactivity, and visual-symbolic representation. These strategies enhance audience engagement, foster emotional connection, and support the formation of collective identity within digital Muslim communities. Furthermore, social media functions not only as a communication channel but also as a dynamic social space where religious meanings and identities are constructed. The study concludes that communication strategies play a crucial role in determining the success of digital da’wah and community cohesion, offering both theoretical contributions to Islamic communication studies and practical implications for developing adaptive da’wah practices in contemporary digital society.
