Abstract

The polemic of music and song law is again crowded on social media, starting from the translation of surat as-Syuara as a letter of poets who were identified with musicians by one of the preachers who eventually received various comments on social media. Departing from this problem, the author will reveal how Islma'il Raji al-Faruqi's views on music, a figure known for the idea of monotheistic art. This writing attempts to explain the expression of Islamic art offered by Ismail Raji al-Faruqi. This study focuses on monotheism as the main objective of the Islamic worldview. The method used in this writing uses library research. The type of data used by the author uses literature-based data, in the form of primary and secondary data. The approach used in this writing uses a thematic method. The formulation of the underlying problem of this writing is expected to answer the question of music polemic as an expression of Islamic art according to Ismail Raji al-Faruqi. The idea of monotheism is an expression of the objective, transcendent, mystical, and inexpressible values of beauty, as well as the idea of beauty that is subjective, expressive, and culturally comprehensible. Al-Faruqi's thinking shows that literary art, calligraphy, ornamentation, sound art, and room art cannot be separated from monotheism as a worldview in Islam.

Abstract

This study examines the concept of Nasikh and Mans?kh (abrogation) in the Qur'an, analyzing both supporting and opposing views among scholars. The research focuses on three main aspects: (1) the essential nature of Nasakh and Mans?kh and their distinction from related concepts like Takhshis (specification) and Bada' (divine alteration); (2) the scholarly debate surrounding their existence in the Qur'an, including various theological arguments; and (3) an evaluation of the most substantiated positions on this issue. Employing qualitative methodology through library research and content analysis, the study finds that the majority of Islamic scholars across different eras have affirmed the reality of Nasikh and Mans?kh in the Qur'an. This consensus is not merely based on tradition, but on substantial textual evidence, logical arguments, and clear indicators within Islamic sources. Conversely, the minority view that rejects the concept appears to lack compelling evidence, often relying on strained interpretations that prove counterproductive to their position. The study concludes that the principle of abrogation does not contradict the perfection of divine revelation, but rather reflects divine wisdom in legislative progression. The phenomenon demonstrates Allah's mercy in adapting religious laws according to changing circumstances and human welfare needs. Far from being problematic, Nasikh and Mans?kh represent a sophisticated aspect of Qur'anic legislation that accommodates temporal and contextual considerations while maintaining the eternal truths of Islam. The research highlights how this mechanism ensures the relevance and applicability of Islamic law throughout different historical periods and social conditions.

Abstract

Modern families face significant challenges to their stability and harmony due to globalization, shifting social values, and technological advances. Increasing divorce rates, lack of communication, and erosion of spiritual values ??are crucial issues. In Islam, the family is seen as the foundation for the formation of morals and faith. The Qur'an emphasizes the importance of building a strong (sakinah), harmonious family based on divine values, as explained in QS. Ar-Rum: 21 on the concept of sakinah, mawaddah, and rahmah. Family resilience is a holistic concept that includes physical, economic, and especially spiritual dimensions. Spiritual strength is a solid foundation for facing the pressures of life. Islam provides rules for maintaining family harmony, such as Al-'Adah Muhakkamah and Ad-Dharu Yuzal. The Qur'an offers a long-term solution through a spiritual approach, with the value of monotheism as the main principle. The family is the center of internalization of values, and parents act as role models. The Qur'anic solution includes reviving spiritual values ? (QS. Luqman: 13), building healthy communication, and affirming roles according to Islamic nature. By adhering to the Qur'an, Muslim families can maintain their integrity amidst the dynamics of the times.

Abstract

The phenomenon of fake news or hoaxes has become a serious challenge in the digital era, drastically changing the order of social communication. This article analyzes the implementation of the values ??of the Qur'an to prevent the spread of hoaxes, highlighting the current digital ethics crisis. Many internet users spread information without verification, even though the Qur'an through Q.S. An-Nur: 19 provides a strong warning against the spread of vile deeds. An examination of the meaning of the word ifk in Islamic terminology shows that hoaxes are not just ordinary lies, but major slander that damages honor and social order. Islam teaches the importance of tabayyun (clarification of information) according to Q.S. Al-Hujurat: 6, husnuzhon (having good intentions) in Q.S. Al-Hujurat: 12, as well as the principles of honesty, responsibility, and trustworthiness in social media. These principles are the foundation of responsible social media ethics. The application of Qur'anic values ??in dealing with hoaxes requires the active role of all parties: the government with strict regulations, educational institutions with digital literacy integration, and the general public with the culture of "filtering before sharing." Technology-based solutions such as fact-checking applications and positive campaigns on social media also need to be encouraged. By bringing the values ??of the Qur'an to life, Muslims can build a healthy, dignified, and faith-based digital community, making social media a field for preaching and goodness, not a means of sin.

Abstract

This study examines the interpretation of the verses of the Qur'an concerning the relationship between humans and nature through a comparative study between Tafsir Al-Azhar by Buya Hamka and Tafsir Al-Mishbah by M. Quraish Shihab. The analysis uses Talcott Parsons' functionalism theory with the AGIL (Adaptation, Goal Attainment, Integration, and Latency) approach. This article examines how the two commentators interpret the verses relating to the relationship between humans and nature and their relevance in the Indonesian context. The method used is qualitative descriptive with a comparative approach. The results of the study show that both commentators have similarities in emphasizing the importance of harmony between humans and nature as a form of devotion to Allah SWT. However, their approaches are different: Buya Hamka is more spiritual and moralistic, while Quraish Shihab is more analytical and contextual. The relationship between humans and nature is emphasized as a harmonious relationship that emphasizes responsibility, sustainability, and spiritual awareness. In the Indonesian context, both view humans as caliphs who are responsible for maintaining the sustainability of nature. The relevance of this interpretation is very important in the context of Indonesia which is rich in the diversity of natural resources. especially in building ecological awareness based on Islamic values. both thoughts provide theological and practical solutions to the modern ecological crisis. And maintain moral awareness by making religion and spirituality as guidelines for preserving nature. With the AGIL approach, these two interpretations provide a theological and practical basis for facing modern challenges without forgetting spiritual and cultural values.

Abstract

This research examines the mystery of the initial singularity of the universe—a central concept in the Big Bang theory—through a thematic analysis of cosmological verses in the Qur’an. The Big Bang theory states that the universe originated from an infinitely dense singularity but does not explain the conditions "before" it or its cause. Meanwhile, the Qur’an (e.g., QS. Al-Anbiya:30 and QS. Fussilat:11) describes the creation of the heavens and the earth in narratives rich with theological meaning. This study aims to: (1) Analyze how classical and contemporary exegeses interpret cosmological verses related to the beginning of creation, (2) Examine possible convergences or divergences between the concept of singularity and the Qur’anic descriptions, and (3) Assess the hermeneutical implications of this science-theology integration. The method used is thematic exegesis (tafsir maudhu’i) with an interdisciplinary approach (cosmology, philosophy of science, and Qur’anic studies). The findings indicate that some modern exegeses (such as those by Tantawi Jawhari or Maurice Bucaille) attempt to harmonize the singularity with Qur’anic verses, while classical exegeses emphasize symbolic aspects. These findings enrich the discourse on Islamic science while also critiquing both literalist and reductive scientific readings.
