Abstract

This research explores Fatima Mernissi's criticism of women's political roles in the Qur'an through a feminist approach. The focus of the research lies on analyzing the discourse of Qur'anic interpretation which, according to Mernissi, often reproduces patriarchal narratives that limit women's participation in the political sphere. The purpose of the study is to evaluate how the Muslim feminist perspective, Mernissi reveals the bias of traditional interpretations and offers a more egalitarian reinterpretation of the Qur'anic text. This research uses a library research method with a critical text analysis approach to Mernissi's works and classical and contemporary Qur'anic interpretations. The data is analyzed with a feminist approach to identify patterns of gender bias in the interpretation of certain verses related to politics and women's leadership. The results showed that Mernissi's criticism succeeded in deconstructing traditional interpretations that tend to rule out the potential of women in politics, while emphasizing that the Qur'an actually opens space for equal gender roles. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the importance of a feminist approach to reconstructing the understanding of sacred texts, so that they are more relevant in supporting gender inclusivity and justice in the modern political context.

Abstract

The number of people in the world is counted in billions. When looked back upon, it surely goes back to Prophet Adam (peace be upon him) and Mother Eve. When they both met, their descendants emerged. The children of Adam originated from their father, Adam (peace be upon him), who was created from microbes. Each of them spread, carrying atoms, and to this day they have not disappeared. From this, the question arises: what is Thanthawi Jauhari's thinking about the genetics of the descendants of Adam (peace be upon him)? This research will be qualitatively analyzed using a scientific approach. The primary data source used in this research is the book al-Jawahir fi Tafsir al-Qur’an al-Karim by Thanthawi Jauhari, which will be analyzed descriptively and analytically. This research concludes that human beings on Earth, from the past to the present, have one common point, which is the unity in creation and similarity in characteristics, conditions, and behavior. This unity and similarity are caused by each human passing down genes to the next generation, which will continue to process and intermix according to human reproduction and dissemination itself. This means every child carries genes from their parents all the way back to Prophet Adam (peace be upon him). The genetic processes known in Mendel's theory can harmonize with the clear signals from the Qur’an as articulated in Jauhari's interpretation.

Abstract

The issue of corruption prevalent in society today is considered a normal and common occurrence, institutionalized, and nearly pervasive in all aspects of community life. One of the anti-corruption eradication methods recommended in Indonesia is the discourse of anti-corruption in religious contexts, as the voice of religion is still quite audible and believed to be effective. The anti-corruption discourse for Muslims is certainly viewed through the lens of the Qur'an. Although the Qur'an does not explicitly mention verses about corruption, there are several verses that indicate issues related to it in addressing the problem of corruption. The method used in this study is a qualitative approach, based on literature research, the verses of the Qur'an, publications in the form of research results, journals, seminars, and articles. The method of interpreting the verses related to corruption employed is the interpretation method of Ibn ‘Asyur. Based on this, in this article, the author attempts to elaborate on the concepts of the Qur'an pertaining to corruption through the commentary of Ibn ‘Asyur via thematic interpretation studies, finding that the terms of corruption explained by Ibn ‘Asyur are very detailed from the aspects of language, Qira’at, and the context of the verses' revelation. Thus, it is easily understood that corruption is prohibited in Islam, and the solution to prevent it lies in implementing religious norms in all aspects of communal life.

Abstract

In the modern era like today, there are still many cases of oppression, both verbally and physically, perpetrated by individuals or groups. This act is known as bullying. This writing analyzes the expressions of verses related to bullying, whether in the form of verbal, physical, or social bullying in the Qur'an. This article is examined qualitatively using a thematic approach. The primary data sources used in this research are contemporary interpretation books with a sociocultural emphasis, namely the Tafsir al-Munîr by Wahbah az-Zuhaylî, Tafsir Al-Azhar by Buya Hamka, and Tafsir Al-Mishbah by Quraish Shihab. The research results show that from 11 verses of the Qur'an related to bullying, there are at least three (3) types of bullying, namely verbal, physical, and social. The commentators explain that bullying includes mocking, spreading false news, giving bad nicknames, and exposing someone's shame or secrets. Although the model of bullying in this era has evolved into cyberbullying, these actions remain a form of criminal behavior as harmful as traditional bullying in the real world.
