Abstract

Bugis silk weaving is a rich cultural heritage, where women play a key role in the production process. This research uses a qualitative ethnographic approach to explore how women craftsmen embroider cultural identity through weaving practices, traditional motifs, and technical innovation. Data was collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and visual documentation, then analyzed thematically to reveal the relationship between technical skills, motif creativity, and the symbolic value attached to silk fabric. The research results show that women craftsmen not only maintain traditional techniques, but also adapt motifs and production processes to modern market demands, so that silk weaving functions as a medium for cultural expression, women's empowerment, and community identity. This study confirms the importance of preserving traditional practices through sustainable approaches, as well as providing an empirical contribution to the understanding of the role of women in the preservation of textile heritage and innovation in material culture.

Abstract

The profit sharing system is a traditional mechanism that influences the economic and social structure of Bugis agriculture, especially in income distribution, relationships between farmers, and management of production risks. This research uses a qualitative ethnographic approach to explore farmers' practices, perceptions and strategies in dealing with the profit sharing system. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with farmers and capital owners, participatory observation on agricultural land, and analysis of local documentation related to production sharing agreements. Thematic analysis was carried out to identify decision-making patterns, profit sharing mechanisms, and farmers' adaptation to production risks and uncertainties. The research results show that the success of a profit-sharing system depends on transparency, social agreement, and community negotiation skills, where farmers actively adjust production and profit-sharing strategies to make them fair and sustainable. This study emphasizes the importance of the profit sharing system as a means of risk management, preserving traditions, and economic empowerment of the Bugis agricultural community.

Abstract

This community service program aimed to strengthen community participation in village policy formulation through the integration of traditional post-harvest sports activities (Malanca) and participatory discussions facilitated by Public Administration students participating in the Community Service Program (KKN) in Maccope Village. The program employed a participatory and collaborative approach involving local residents, village authorities, students, and other stakeholders in planning, implementation, and evaluation processes. Data were collected through observation, participatory discussions, interviews, and documentation. The findings revealed that the establishment of the Maccope Mandiri Group significantly enhanced citizens’ involvement in village planning and budgeting processes. Capacity-building activities improved residents’ understanding of APBDes mechanisms and strengthened their ability to formulate and advocate policy proposals. Traditional Malanca sports functioned not only as cultural and recreational activities but also as informal arenas for policy deliberation and civic education. Multi-stakeholder collaboration fostered communication between villagers and local authorities, resulting in increased transparency and accountability. Although infrastructural limitations and unequal access to information remained challenges, the program demonstrated that integrating local culture with participatory governance can promote community empowerment and democratic practices. The experience of Maccope Village provides an alternative model for strengthening policy literacy, preserving cultural heritage, and encouraging sustainable community participation in rural development

Abstract

Agricultural transactions conducted before harvest remain a common practice among rural communities as a strategy to address financial needs and maintain farming activities. This study aims to analyze mukhadarah practices among mango farmers in Marayoka Village, Jeneponto Regency, from the perspective of Islamic economics and examine their relevance to sustainable agricultural development policies. This study employed a qualitative approach using a case study design. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving farmers, buyers, religious leaders, and village officials. Data analysis followed the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, consisting of data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that mukhadarah transactions are conducted through the sale of mango fruits before harvest based on estimated production and mutually agreed prices. The practice provides economic benefits by enabling farmers to obtain quick access to capital and reducing marketing risks. From the perspective of Islamic economics, mukhadarah fulfills the principles of mutual consent (an-taradhin) and contractual agreement, although it still contains potential elements of gharar due to uncertainty regarding the quantity and quality of future harvests. Furthermore, the practice contributes to sustainable agricultural development by supporting the continuity of farming activities and improving farmers' access to financial resources. Therefore, strengthening the principles of justice, transparency, and risk-sharing mechanisms is essential to ensure that mukhadarah practices provide greater welfare for farmers while supporting sustainable agricultural development
