Abstract

Fruit is an important source of essential vitamins and minerals required to maintain human health. However, the relatively high cost of fruit often limits access among rural communities, particularly those with low- to middle-income levels. One practical and sustainable approach to improving household fruit availability is the cultivation of fruit plants in pots (tabulampot), which can provide a continuous supply of fresh fruit while also enhancing the aesthetic value of home environments. In Kediri Village, the availability of bioslurry, an organic fertilizer generated as a by-product of biogas digesters, offers an additional advantage for tabulampot cultivation by reducing fertilizer costs and promoting environmentally friendly agricultural practices. This community service program aimed to: (1) increase public awareness of the importance of daily fruit consumption, (2) disseminate knowledge and appropriate technology related to tabulampot cultivation, and (3) promote the utilization of bioslurry as an organic fertilizer. The program was implemented through community outreach, practical training sessions, and continuous mentoring until the plants reached the fruiting stage. The results demonstrated that the program was successfully implemented with active participation and strong enthusiasm from community members. Participants contributed labor, gardening equipment, and logistical support throughout the activities. Student involvement also provided valuable opportunities for experiential learning, knowledge transfer, community engagement, and the development of social awareness. The program outputs included the establishment of fruit and vegetable plants as pilot demonstrations for bioslurry application, the preparation of technical and financial reports, and the development of scientific manuscripts for publication. Overall, the program enhanced community capacity in sustainable fruit cultivation and promoted the productive utilization of locally available organic resources.

Abstract

Sidodadi Village in Pesawaran Regency holds economic potential that remains underutilized due to the low financial literacy of village officials in managing Village Funds and the unexploited potential of waste as an economic resource. This community engagement program aimed to improve the literacy and transparency of Village Fund management while developing productive enterprises based on waste processing through circular economy principles. The program applied a community-based participatory engagement approach implemented in four stages: preparation, counseling and education, mentoring and implementation, and evaluation. Program effectiveness was measured using pre-test and post-test instruments and a participant satisfaction survey. The results show an increase in participants' financial literacy, with the average score rising from 52 in the pre-test to 81 in the post-test (a 42% improvement) that was statistically significant (p < 0.05). The program also established two community business groups based on waste, namely an organic group (compost fertilizer and eco-enzyme) and an inorganic group (recycled plastic crafts), some of whose products have been marketed locally and through social media. Collaboration with the village-owned enterprise (BUMDes) strengthened product distribution and the sustainability of revolving funds, while participant satisfaction reached 94%. It is concluded that integrating Village Fund literacy with circular waste utilization can drive a more transparent, accountable, and competitive village economic transformation. The participatory approach positions the community as the subject of development, supporting program sustainability and serving as a model of economic empowerment for other villages.

Abstract

Abstract

Electric motors are used to drive various electrical loads such as fans, washing machines, refrigerators, and other devices. The electric motor used in this study is a direct current motor, which is widely applied in industry, household appliances, and transportation systems. A DC motor is an electric motor that utilizes direct current as its energy source. A DC motor consists of two main parts, namely the stator and the rotor, where each part is wound with coils to generate a magnetic field when supplied with direct current. SMA Fransiskus offers physics courses that cover magnetism and further develop the study of magnetic physics through the application of DC motors. Therefore, this community service activity aimed to provide knowledge and training on the application of magnetic physics in DC motors through a basic DC motor construction workshop. The method employed consisted of educational outreach by providing knowledge about the fundamentals of DC motors and their construction procedures. This was followed by training, mentoring, and demonstrations on the basic construction of DC motors, during which the students of SMA Fransiskus actively participated in building simple DC motors. After the training sessions, an evaluation of the community service activities was conducted. The entire community service program was successfully implemented, and the students of SMA Fransiskus showed great interest and enthusiasm for the training because it enabled them to gain hands-on experience in constructing basic DC motors as an application of magnetic physics learned in their coursework. As a result, the students of SMA Fransiskus improved their understanding and knowledge of the application of magnetic physics through the basic DC motor construction training.
