Kariwari adalah rumah adat suku Tobati (yang secara etimologis berarti “manusia sejati dari matahari”) yang bermukim di pesisir teluk Youtefa, Jayapura. Struktur bangunan Kariwari berbentuk limas segi delapan berjenjang tiga. Atap Kariwari disusun dari daun sagu. Seluruh bangunan bertumpu pada satu tiang utama di tengah. Bagian dalam Kariwari terdiri dari satu ruang luas tanpa sekat. Kariwari berfungsi sebagai tempat diselenggarakannya pesta-pesta adat, ritus inisiasi anak-laki-laki, pentradisian makna dan nilai-nilai hidup suku Tobati, serta sebagai tempat penyimpanan benda-benda pusaka adat. Jurnal Kariwari adalah jurnal yang diterbitkan oleh Sekolah Tinggi Pastoral Kateketik Santo Yohanes Rasul Jayapura. Jurnal ini membahas persoalan pastoral Gereja meliputi masalah: Pendidikan, Katekese, Teologi, Fenomenologi Agama, Liturgi, dan permasalahan umat lainnya. Jurnal ini terbit 2 (dua) kali dalam setahun pada bulan Januari dan Juli.

Abstract

Digital technology is growing day by day. This development undoubtedly has a significant impact on all aspects of human life worldwide. Therefore, this technological advancement is considered a gift from God. The purpose of this study was to determine the extent of digital media use for evangelization and the supporting and inhibiting factors in its use at the Christ the Light of the World Parish in Waena Jayapura. To achieve these two objectives, the author used qualitative methods, with data collection techniques including observation and interviews with 12 informants. The results revealed that digital media used as a means of evangelization include live streaming, daily reflections Lumen Christi, and catechesis. These media are used as a means of activities open to the public. Supporting factors in evangelization include the availability of adequate digital devices and adequate human resources. Inhibiting factors relate to the digital devices used and the sense of appreciation of media use in evangelization, as the use of digital media is considered new in liturgical celebrations.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah ingin mengetahui dampak, tantangan dan manfaat pelayanan petugas pastoral care di Rumah Sakit Dian Harapan Waena Jayapura. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif deskriptif. Adapun subyek dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 7 informan. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari berbagai aktivitas yang dilakukan oleh petugas pastoral care di Rumah Sakit Dian Harapan terdapat dampak yang dialami oleh pasien, yakni ketika pasien dikunjungi pasien merasa sangat senang, dan merasa diperhatikan. Selain itu kerinduan pasien untuk didoakan pun tercapai dan merasa dikuatkan dalam iman, mereka yakin bahwa mereka akan sembuh ketika didoakan oleh petugas pastoral care. Tantangan yang didapatkan oleh petugas pastoral care selama melakukan pelayanan kepada orang sakit di Rumah Sakit Dian Harapan, yaitu petugas pastoral care ditolak oleh keluarga pasien untuk didoakan dari pasien yang berkeyakinan lain. Namun penolakan tersebut bukan saja dari pasien yang berkeyakinan lain tetapi juga dari pasien yang beragama Katolik. Adapun  manfaat yang didapatkan oleh dari pihak pasien dari pelayanan  petugas pastoral care, yakni pasien mengalami kemajuan dalam proses pengobatan. Dan dari pihak keluarga merasa dikuatkan karena dihibur dan berdoa bersama petugas pastoral care yang ada di Rumah Sakit Dian Harapan.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the extent to which Hubula Catholic families in Emanuel Elagaima Parish understand and internalize the essence of Catholic marriage and to identify supporting and inhibiting factors. This study used a qualitative approach using in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, and observation. The results indicate that Hubula Catholic families understand marriage as a sacred bond originating from God, which demands fidelity, love, openness to life, and mutual affection. However, despite efforts to faithfully live out Catholic marriage, some still face difficulties, such as marrying according to traditional customs without the sacrament or practicing polygamy. Supporting factors for the internalization of Catholic marriage include involvement in the sacrament, pastoral support from the Church, and the couple's commitment to faithfulness. Inhibiting factors include traditional pressure, a lack of understanding of the faith, and minimal ongoing pastoral care. This study emphasizes the need for an active role for the Church in providing guidance and faith education for Hubula Catholic families to harmonize Catholic teachings with local culture so that marriage is truly experienced as a divine calling that unites couples in the love of Christ.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low involvement of young Catholics in church activities at the St. Joseph Arso VII Station, especially related to the five main tasks of the Church: koinonia, liturgy, kerygma, diakonia, and martyria. The purpose of the research is to determine the forms of youth participation, identify supporting and inhibiting factors, and analyze the station's efforts to increase their involvement. This research uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results show that youth participation is still limited, especially in the areas of liturgy and kerygma, which is influenced by a lack of discipline, self-confidence and also mentoring from Catholic Youth mentors. Supporting factors found include support from family, school, church, and social media, while inhibiting factors include personal busyness, weak family attention, limited facilities, and the influence of digital culture. The efforts made by the St. Joseph Arso VII Station include increasing pastoral care, involving youth in categorical activities, providing facilities, and strengthening faith through spiritual meetings. This research is expected to contribute to more effective pastoral strategies and encourage young people in church life.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of emotional intelligence on the academic achievement of students of the 2022 batch of STPK Santo Yohanes Rasul Jayapura. The method used in this study is a quantitative method, with simple linear regression analysis techniques and coefficient of determination. The population in this study were all 37 students of the 2022 batch of STPK Santo Yohanes Rasul Jayapura. The sample used was 37 students with the basis of saturated sampling technique, namely all members of the population. Data collection techniques used a Likert scale questionnaire, observation, interviews and documentation. Data processing in this study used the SPSS program version 25. In the validity and reliability test stage, it was found that the variable X 23 items were declared valid with a reliability of 0.925 and the variable Y 29 items were declared valid with a reliability level of 0.925. The results of this study indicate a significant effect between emotional intelligence on the academic achievement of students of the 2022 batch of STPK Santo Yohanes Rasul Jayapura with a 5% error rate. It is known that the significance is 0.00 <0.05, so it can be concluded that H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected. It is known that variable X contributes 74.3% to variable Y, while the remaining 25.7% is influenced by other variables not yet examined by the researcher, namely spiritual intelligence, intellectual intelligence, learning behavior, and self-concept.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of parenting styles on social media usage control among adolescents in Santo Petrus Erom Parish. The phenomenon of excessive social media use among adolescents shows addiction that affects sleep quality, learning concentration, and participation in church activities. This research uses quantitative methods with a simple linear regression analysis approach. The research population consisted of 70 adolescents aged 12-18 years in Santo Petrus Erom Parish, all of whom were used as research samples (total sampling). Data were collected through a Likert scale questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. The results showed that parenting style has a significant influence on social media usage control among adolescents with a significance value of 0.019 (p<0.05), so the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.078 indicates that parenting style influences 7.8% of social media usage control, while 92.2% is influenced by other factors not examined. Although its contribution is relatively small, its influence is statistically significant. These findings indicate the importance of parents' active role in guiding children to use social media wisely through setting time limits, content monitoring, open communication, and digital literacy education. This research provides input for parents and the church in designing adolescent mentoring programs in the digital era.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menganalisis Mazmur 72:1-2, 7-8, 12-13, 17 sebagai teks liturgis dan teologis yang merepresentasikan visi tentang raja ideal sebagai mediator utama kesetiaan Allah bagi umat-Nya. Dengan menggunakan metode hermeneutik dalam subgenre sastra hikmat dan didukung oleh studi pustaka dan analisis isi, penelitian ini mengidentifikasi bentuk paralelisme, struktur pengembangan mazmur, penggunaan metafora, serta menguraikan makna teologis yang terkandung dalam teks. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Mazmur 72 membangun gambaran progresif tentang pemimpin yang adil, pembela kaum tertindas, dan pembawa damai yang universal. Secara teologis, Mazmur ini berdialog dengan Yesaya 11:1-10 dan Matius 3:1-12, yang secara bersama-sama menghadirkan harapan mesianik mengenai pemerintahan yang penuh belas kasih dan keadilan. Penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa kesetiaan Allah kerap dimediasi melalui beragam agen, seperti raja dan institusi sosial, dan mendorong pembacanya untuk melihat karya Allah yang hadir secara nyata dalam sejarah dan kehidupan sosial.

Abstract

Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji peran pendidikan anak dalam keluarga sebagai fondasi utama pembentukan kepribadian anak. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi pustaka. Sumber data diperoleh dari berbagai literatur yang relevan, meliputi buku-buku pendidikan, psikologi perkembangan, dokumen Gereja Katolik, serta pemikiran tokoh pendidikan, khususnya pandangan Sri Paus Yohanes Paulus II mengenai keluarga sebagai lingkungan pendidikan pertama. Teknik analisis data dilakukan melalui analisis isi (content analysis) dengan cara mengkaji, mengelompokkan, dan menafsirkan gagasan-gagasan pokok yang berkaitan dengan pendidikan keluarga dan perkembangan kepribadian anak. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa keluarga memiliki peran yang fundamental dan strategis sebagai lembaga pendidikan pertama dan utama dalam menanamkan nilai-nilai dasar, terutama nilai kasih, kedamaian, dan tanggung jawab moral. Pendidikan dalam keluarga berkontribusi secara signifikan terhadap perkembangan kepribadian anak secara holistik, mencakup dimensi fisik, emosional, sosial, moral, dan spiritual. Selain itu, proses pendidikan dalam keluarga menuntut kedalaman pribadi pendidik, yang meliputi pengetahuan, sikap, dan keterampilan pedagogis, agar mampu mendampingi anak secara optimal dalam proses pertumbuhan dan pembentukan kepribadiannya.

Abstract

This study is aimed to analyse the role of social media on the harmony of married couples, identify harmony inhibiting factors and to determine the pastoral strategies conducted by the Church. This study applied a descriptive qualitative method. Primary data were obtained through interviews, observation, and documentation involving 20 informants from 10 Catholic married couples at the Parish of Bunda Hati Kudus Wendu in Merauke. The result of the study shows that social media plays a dual role: on one hand, it strengthens communication and intimacy between couples; on the other hand, excessive use can trigger conflict, jealousy, and neglect of the partner. The main inhibiting factor is the time spent on social media, where it might reduce spousal attention. Responding to the intended issue the parish then organized seminars and special coaching to help families managing social media use wisely. This finding confirms the importance of digital literacy and pastoral guidance to maintain family cohesion in the digital era
