Abstract

ABSTRACT Hyperhomocysteinemia appears to be an independent risk factor for coronary heart disease. Elevated levels of  plasma  total  homocysteine  (tHcy)  was  caused  by  genetic  or  nutrient-related  disturbances  in  the transsulfuration  or  remethylation  pathways  for  homocysteine  metabolism.  This  study  observed  premature myocard  infarct  acute  patients  with  hyperhomocysteinemia. The  aim  of  the  research  was  to  determine Cystarhionine-β  Synthase  and  Methylenetetrahydrofolate  Reductase  genes  mutations  in  premature  acute myocard  infarct  patients  with  hyperhomocysteinemia. This  study  was  a  cross  sectional  study  in  premature acute myocard infarct patients. Twenty three patients were examined for plasma total homocysteine, vitamin B6, vitamin B12 folic acid and lipid profile. Total DNA isolated from patients with hyperhomocystememia and normal  folic  acid,  vitamin  B6,  vitamin  B12  levels  and  lipid  profile.  Five  patients  were  assayed  for Cystathionine-β  Synthase  and  gen  Methylenetetrahydrofolate  Reductase  genese  mutations  by  Polymerase Chain  Reactions  (PCR).  Five  from  23  patients  (  21,7%  )  plasma  total

Abstract

ABSTRACT The high number of maternal mortality rate caused by 3 complex problems. One of those problems was delay identification  by  the  family  on  the  risk  factors  of  the  maternal  and  make  decision  in  seeking  help  related  to their problem. The goal of this study was to identify how the family involvement role, especially their husband, to the maternal health and how the decision making pattern in the family, related to the perinatal complication. This  study  is  qualitative  research  using  phenomenology  approach.  The  number  of  participant  in  this  study were six couples husband and wife in Bojongherang, Cianjur, West Java. The findings identified that most of the decision maker in the family were the husbands, except those wife who are the carrier woman. In general, the process of decision making start with discussion from both husband and wife before the decision making is made. Some other is decided by their husband instead. The most influenced factors to the decision making process were socio-economic, accessibility to the health insurance and the family knowledge on the perinatal complications.  The  other  less  influenced  factors  were  gender,  educational  background  and  cultural background.  Key words : Decision making in the family, perinatal complication, maternal health.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Carcinoma cervix is the most frequent malignancy and the highest cancer mortality rate in women worldwideas well as in Indonesian. From 4.290 of cervical carciona in Indonesia , 1.326 cases were found in SurabayaOver 70% patients were in the advanced stadium. Pap Smear as a screening test is a prevention strategy focarcinoma  cervix.  Sex  worker    has  a  high  risk  for  carcinoma  cervix.  This  research  was  carried  out  in  GangDolly  Prostitution  Area  Surabaya  aimed  to  describe  the  characteristics  of  sex  worker  and  the  correlationbetween    knowledge  level  and  participation  in  Pap  Smear  examination  .  A  cross  sectional  approach  wasconducted with  67 respondents. The variables: characteristics, knowledge  level and pap-smear  participationwas  measured  by  open  and  close-ended  questionnaire  guided  by  the  researcher.  The  data  were  presentedas  cross  tabulation  and  further  testing  the  correlation  based  on    Lambda  Correlation  test  (α  =  0,05).  Theresults  showed    an  equal  proportion  of  good  and  sufficient  knowledge  and  only  limited  respondent  (2,99%who  have  very  poor  knowledge.  89,55%  respondents  have  had  done  their  Pap  Smear  examination,  fromthose  mostly  were  respondents  with  sufficient  knowledge  (41,79%).    There  was  a  weak  and  not  significancorrelation  between  respondent’s  knowledge  level  about  carcinoma  cervix  and  their  participation  in  PapSmear examination (Lambda Correlation test, Lb = 0,286, approx. sig. = 0,151).  Keywords : Knowledge , Carcinoma Cervix, Pap Smear, Participation

Abstract

ABSTRACT Treatment  limitations  of  current  immunosuppressive  therapies,  and  growing  understanding  of  psoriasispathogenesis on a molecular level have stimulated much interest in the field of immunomodulatory therapy fomanagement of psoriasis. Genetic engineering has allowed the development of proteins that are targeted tospecific cell surface receptors. A well over 40 targeted biologic agents are in preclinical and clinical testing foT-cell  mediated  inflammatory    diseases,  including  psoriasis.  It  is  important  that,  as  a  doctor  become  weleducated in biologics, since several of these agents are available for the management of psoriasis.   Keywords:  immunosuppressive  therapy,  immunomodulatory  therapy,  genetic  engineering,  surface  receptors,  targetedbiologic agents, biologics.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Many  theory  and  research  was  trying  to  explain  the  aging  process.  Free  radical  theory  explained  that  allnormal metabolism process in the body can produce free radical. These free radical can destroy the skin cell, and  than  the  skin  will  start  the  aging  process.  The  tomato  extract  has  antioxidant  such  as  lycopene,  β-carotene  and  vitamin  C.  These  antioxidant  will  prevent  the  activity  of  free  radical,  so  that  skin  cell  will  notdamage.  The  aims  of  this  research  were  to  study  effect  of  tomato  extract  juice  in  preventing  skin  aging  onwistar rats. Total of 25 rats were divided into 5 groups, consisted of 5 rats each. Group one was control groupD-0) rats were four months old, and the group two control of group rats were taken care of 4 months old until7  months  old  (D-1),  the  other  group  which  were  under  treatment  classified  into  3  groups.  Group  three  wereed 7 g/kg/day/ body weight of tomato fruit extract, then taken care of 4 months old until 7 months old (D-2),group four were fed 11 g/kg/day/ body weight of tomato extract fruit, then taken care of 4 months old until 7months old (D-3) and group five were fed 15 g/kg/day/ body weigh of tomato fruit extract, then taken care of 4months  old  until  7  months  old  (D-4).

Abstract

ABSTRACT Acute  encephalopathy  is  a  not  a  common,  but  a  potential  emergency  situation  in  newborns  and  youngchildren.  If  the  encephalopathy  is  not  caused  by  asphyxia  or  infections  of  the  brain,  rare  inborn  errors  ofmetabolism need to be considered. An acute encephalopathy due to an inborn error can occur in newborns, young  infants,  or  even  in  childhood  and  is  not  always  easily  recognized  because  more  subtle  presentationscan  occur.  In  this  article  we  will  give  a  practical  guideline  to  the  diagnostic  approach  of  metabolic  diseasespresenting with acute neurological symptoms with an emphasis on treatable disorders and the application indeveloping  countries  with  limited  diagnostic  resources.  The  first  step  in  the  evaluation  of  patient  with  apossible  metabolic  disease  is  to  categorise  the  clinical  appearance  of  the  patient  in  one  of  the  followingclinical categories: Hypoglycemia phenotype; Intoxication phenotype; Neurotransmitter defect phenotype; andCellular energy  metabolism defect  phenotype.  Second, combine this clinical classification with your physicaexamination  and  the  result  of  routine  laboratory  investigations  and  this  can  lead  to  suspected  diagnosis  ofmetabolic  disorders.Prompt  recognition  and  treatment  are  important,  because  an  acute  metabolicencephalopathy can irreversible and interruption of normal neural activity in the developing brain can have along-lasting  effect  on  psychomotor  development.  Delay  in  diagnosis  and  treatment  may  thus  result  in  acutemetabolic decompensation, progressive neurologic injury, or even death.  Key words: acute encephalopathy, inborn error metabolisme

Abstract

ABSTRACT Adiponectin  is  a  adipocyte  derivate  protein  involves  in  sensitivity  of  insulin,  anti-inflamation,  and  anti-atherogenic  found  largely  in  plasma.  The  decrease  of  adiponectin  in  the  plasma  is  related  to  obesity, cardiovascular diseases, type II diabetes, hypertension and vascular injuries in nice. In vivo research on strain balb/c mice showed that excessive Adiponectin expression inhibits atherosclerosis with Apo E deficiency. The aim  of  this  research  is  to  find  protective  mechanisms  of  adiponectin  on  vascular  utilizing  in-vitro  Infected HUVEC’s  culture.  There  were  5  groups  :(A)  control  negative  group  or  normal  HUVEC’s,
