Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of coconut husk liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) on the growth and yield of celery plants, as well as to identify the most effective concentration. The research was carried out in Tambun Village, Baolan District, Tolitoli Regency, from February 2025 to May 2025. The experiment was arranged in a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with a single factor consisting of five levels: P0 = Without organic fertilizer (Control), P1= LOF concentration of 50 ml/l water, P2= LOF concentration of 100 ml/l water, P3 = LOF concentration of 150 ml/l water, and P4 = LOF concentration of 200 ml/l water. Each treatment was replicated three times, resulting in 15 experimental units with a total of 75 plants. For each treatment, three sample plants were observed, giving a total of 45 observed samples. The results showed that the application of coconut husk LOF significantly affected celery (Apium graveolens L.) growth. The concentration of 200 ml/l water (P4) was the best treatment, consistently producing the highest values for plant height (17.97 cm at 6 weeks after planting), root volume (2.67 ml), and fresh weight (5.19 g). It was also observed that the higher the concentration of coconut husk LOF applied, the better the growth and yield of celery plants obtained.

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of the interaction between NPK Mutiara fertiliser dosage and branch pruning on the growth and yield of tomato plants (Lycopersicum esculentum Mill.). The experiment was carried out from March to May 2024 at the experimental field of the Faculty of Agriculture, Madako University, Tolitoli, Tambun Village, Baolan District, Tolitoli Regency. A factorial Randomised Block Design (RBD) was used with two factors: NPK Mutiara fertiliser dosage (0 g/plant, 15 g/plant, and 25 g/plant) and branch pruning (no pruning, leaving three main branches, and leaving four main branches). Each treatment combination was replicated three times, resulting in 27 experimental units. The results revealed a significant interaction between NPK Mutiara fertiliser and branch pruning on plant height (51.92 cm) and fruit weight per sample (391.50 g). The single factor of branch pruning had a highly significant effect on fruit diameter at 67 days after planting (48.47 mm) and 74 days after planting (57.86 mm), with the best performance observed in treatments leaving 3–4 main branches. Overall, applying NPK Mutiara fertiliser at 25 g/plant combined with pruning to 3–4 main branches enhanced the growth and yield of tomato plants.

Abstract

Shallots (Allium ascalonicum L.) are one of the important horticultural commodities in Indonesia whose productivity is greatly influenced by cultivation techniques, especially mulch and organic fertilizer. This study was conducted to increase the growth and yield of shallots through various types of mulch and doses of chicken manure. The study was conducted in the Faculty of Agriculture practice field, Madako University, Tolitoli, Tolitoli Regency, Central Sulawesi, for three months, from February to April 2024. The design used was a two-factor Randomized Block Design (RBD), namely the type of mulch (M0: without mulch, M1: rice husk charcoal, M2: plastic mulch) and the dose of chicken manure (K0: without fertilizer, K1: 10 tons/ha, K2: 20 tons/ha), each with three replications. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA), followed by the Least Significant Difference (LSD) test at the 5% level. The results showed that the plastic mulch treatment (M2) significantly affected the fresh weight of tubers with leaves, the fresh weight of tubers without leaves, and the number of tubers. Meanwhile, a dose of 20 tons/ha of chicken manure (K2) significantly affected the fresh weight of tubers both with and without leaves. The interaction between the two factors was insignificant, so their effects were independent. Thus, increasing the dose of chicken manure (K2) still produced the highest yield regardless of the type of mulch used.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of various doses of Magau organic fertilizer on the growth and yield of forage maize. The research was conducted in Pangi Village, Baolan District, Tolitoli Regency, Central Sulawesi, from November 2022 to February 2023. The experiment used a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with five fertilizer doses: 0, 25, 50, 75, and 100 g per plant. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and followed by the DMRT test to identify significant differences among treatments. The results showed that Magau organic fertilizer significantly affected the number of leaves, ear length, ear diameter, and ear weight, but had no significant effect on plant height and leaf length. The best treatment was obtained with 100 g per plant, which produced optimal growth and yield of forage maize. This study is expected to serve as a reference for farmers in Tolitoli Regency in developing forage maize cultivation using Magau organic fertilizer and as a comparative reference for future research.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the interaction between the composition of planting media and the dose of NPK Mutiara 16-16-16 fertilizer on the growth and yield of purple eggplant (Solanum melongena L.). The study used a factorial randomized block design (RBD) with a combination of several planting media (soil, coffee husks, and chicken manure) and different doses of NPK fertilizer. The parameters observed included plant height, number of leaves, stem diameter, root volume, number of fruits, and fruit weight. The results showed a significant interaction between planting media and NPK fertilizer doses on all growth and yield parameters. The best treatment was obtained in the M3 planting media (1 kg soil: 1 kg coffee husks: 2 kg chicken manure = 1:1:2) with a dose of P2 fertilizer (10 g/polybag or equivalent to 350 kg/ha) which resulted in a plant height of 66.73 cm, more leaves, larger stem diameter, the highest root volume (86.67 ml), optimal number of fruits (2.00 fruits), and the most significant fruit weight (0.40 kg). In contrast, the control treatment (without fertilizer) resulted in lower growth and yield. It can be concluded that the combination of chicken manure and NPK Mutiara 16-16-16 fertilizer at a dose of 10 g per polybag can increase the vegetative and generative growth of purple eggplant plants.
