Abstract

The Health Office of Bukittinggi City reported that out of 11,383 toddlers, 2,742 (24.48%) experienced emotional development disorders. Emotional development in children is influenced by their environment and play habits, including screen time activity. This study aims to determine the relationship between screen time activity and the emotional development of children aged 4–5 years in the Guguk Panjang District, Bukittinggi City, in 2025. This research is an analytical survey with a cross-sectional design conducted from May 20 to June 4, 2025, at PAUD/TK Aisyiyah I Guguk Panjang. The study population consisted of children aged 4–5 years, with a total sample of 35 respondents selected using accidental sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires on screen time activity and children's emotional development. The data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate methods with a chi-square test and a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that most of the children aged 4–5 years had poor screen time activity, with 17 respondents (48.6%). Furthermore, most children had poor emotional development, with 30 respondents (85.7%). Statistical tests showed a significant relationship between screen time activity and emotional development in children aged 4–5 years (p-value = 0.016). These findings indicate that most of the problems in children's emotional development are caused by screen time activities. The conclusion of this study is that there is a relationship between screen time activity and the emotional development of children aged 4–5 years. Therefore, it is recommended that screen time activities for children in this age group should not be introduced early or should be controlled and accompanied. Parents are encouraged to divert their children's attention from gadgets by introducing educational games that can stimulate child development.

Abstract

Anxiety is an emotional condition characterized by feelings of worry or fear without a clear cause and is commonly experienced by pregnant women, especially in the third trimester. Anxiety during pregnancy can negatively affect maternal and fetal health, increasing the risk of pregnancy complications, impaired fetal development, and difficult labor. The World Health Organization (WHO) reported that approximately 15% of pregnant women experience anxiety, which may increase to 30% in first pregnancies. In Indonesia, the prevalence of anxiety among pregnant women is 28.7%, while in Sumatra it reaches 52.35%. Data from Baso Public Health Center in 2024 showed that 40% of third-trimester pregnant women experienced anxiety symptoms. One important factor influencing maternal anxiety is husband’s support. This study aimed to determine the relationship between husband’s support and anxiety levels among third-trimester pregnant women at Baso Public Health Center in 2025. This study used a quantitative cross-sectional design involving 30 third-trimester pregnant women selected through total sampling. Data were collected using a husband’s support questionnaire and the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS) and analyzed using Chi-square tests. The results showed that 56.7% of respondents did not experience anxiety and 53.3% received husband’s support. A significant relationship was found between husband’s support and anxiety levels (p = 0.001).

Abstract

Adolescent premarital sexual behavior is a persistent reproductive health issue with negative psychological and physiological impacts. This study aimed to determine the relationship between the quality of adolescent communication with parents and the influence of the peer group on Adolescent premarital sexual behavior among students at SMAN 4 Bukittinggi. This quantitative study employed a Cross-Sectional design. The sample consisted of 68 students selected using proportional random sampling. Data were collected via questionnaires and analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between parental communication and PSPB (p=0.01; RP=4.781), and a significant relationship between peer group and PSPB (p<0.05; RP=2.22). Adolescents with less quality communication with their parents were 4.781 times more likely to engage in PSPB, and 53.1% of those with poor communication were at high risk. It is concluded that quality communication with parents and positive peer group influence are vital protective factors. The school environment must be strengthened to improve effective communication education and reproductive health promotion.
