Abstract

Early Breastfeeding Initiation (EBI) is one of the important efforts in improving the health of newborns. EBI provides benefits in increasing the success of breastfeeding and strengthening the bond between mother and baby. However, the implementation of EBI is still not optimal. One of the factors that affect the success of EBI is family support, both in emotional, informational, and instrumental forms. To determine the relationship between family support and the success of Early Breastfeeding Initiation (EBI) at Teungku Peukan General Hospital, Southwest Aceh Regency in 2026. This study is an analytical research with a cross-sectional approach. The population in this study is all maternity mothers at Teungku Peukan General Hospital as many as 62 people. The sampling technique used a total sampling with a sample of 62 respondents. Data collection was carried out using questionnaires and observation sheets. Data analysis used the Chi-Square test with a 95% confidence level (α = 0.05). The results showed that most of the respondents received family support, namely 38 people (61.3%) and more than half of the respondents successfully implemented EBI, namely 35 people (56.5%). The results of the statistical test obtained a p-value = 0.004 (p < 0.05) which showed a significant relationship between family support and EBI success. Conclusion: Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between family support and the success of Early Breastfeeding Initiation (EBI) at Teungku Peukan General Hospital, Southwest Aceh Regency in 2026. It is hoped that health workers can improve education not only to mothers but also to families in order to provide optimal support in the implementation of EBI.

Abstract

Children's health and growth can be effectively measured through indicators of infant nutritional status. The problem of malnutrition, both in the form of malnutrition and overnutrition, remains a crucial issue for public health because it risks inhibiting growth and development and triggering chronic diseases in the future. Therefore, it is necessary to map the nutritional status of infants in Gampong Jawa, Langsa City District, as a basis for making accurate nutritional intervention policies. This study was conducted to describe the nutritional status of infants in Gampong Jawa, Langsa City District, for the period of 2026. The objectives of this study consist of general objectives and special objectives, which are as follows. This study adopted a descriptive quantitative approach with a cross sectional design of 75 infant subjects. The instruments used include digital scales and microtoises for weight and height measurement, as well as observation sheets in the form of checklists. Data analysis was carried out univariate to present a picture of the frequency distribution and percentage values of the variables studied. Most of the babies had a normal nutritional status of 60.0%, while 20.0% of the babies were classified as thin, 6.7% were very thin, and 13.3% were obese. This shows that there are still babies with abnormal nutritional status both in the form of deficiency and overnutrition.

Abstract

Chronic conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, heart failure, and cancer can disrupt daily activities and reduce quality of life. One frequently used non-pharmacological intervention is the handheld fan, which is a handheld fan directed at the face to provide airflow that can help reduce the perception of shortness of breath through trigeminal receptor stimulation. Purpose: This journal review was conducted to determine the extent to which a handheld fan is effective in reducing complaints of shortness of breath in various clinical conditions through a scoping review approach. Methods: This review was conducted by searching and reviewing research articles from Google Scholar, PubMed, and national journals in the period 2021–2025 using the PICO framework, which includes a patient population with shortness of breath, handheld fan intervention, a control group comparison or no comparison, and outcomes in the form of a reduction in dyspnea levels. A total of 10 articles met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed descriptively. Results: The use of a hand-held fan for 5–10 minutes at a distance of 15–30 cm was consistently effective, demonstrating a reduction in shortness of breath in patients with chronic disease. No adverse effects were observed in all studies. Therefore, a handheld fan is considered safe, easy to implement, and potentially helpful in managing dyspnea.
