Abstract

Unbalanced population growth caused by high birth rates, low mortality, and uneven population distribution poses various challenges. One of the impacts is the increasing number of workers who choose to work abroad. In 2024, there will be 297,434 Indonesian Citizens working as Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI), with the most placements in Hong Kong (99,773), Taiwan (84,581), and Malaysia (51,732). PMI contributes significantly to the national economy through foreign exchange reserves. However, some of them also face various unfair treatment, such as low wages, violence, confiscation of documents, excessive working hours, and an inadequate work environment, in addition to many complaints related to illness, work accidents, and death. The literature review results related to PMI in Hong Kong show that PMIs still face problems related to Occupational Safety and Health (OSH). With a lack of awareness about OSH rights, this condition will worsen. Therefore, there is a need for intervention in safety awareness training to increase workers' understanding and awareness of OSH. This training aims to improve workers' knowledge to reduce the number of work accidents and increase productivity. The results of the qualitative analysis showed that training increased participants' knowledge; therefore, PMI needed to conduct refresher training regularly to improve their safety awareness.

Abstract

The AI-assisted scientific writing training was implemented as a community service program to enhance the professional competence of madrasah teachers in the digital era. This activity aimed to equip teachers with the skills to write scientific articles, classroom action research reports, and best practice papers using artificial intelligence (AI) applications such as ChatGPT, Grammarly, QuillBot, and Mendeley. The training was conducted through hands-on practice and online mentoring using an experiential learning approach that emphasized real-world writing experiences. A total of 30 madrasah teachers participated in the program, which consisted of a pre-test, training sessions, writing practice, and a post-test. The results showed an average score improvement of 37%, particularly in aspects of writing structure, paragraph cohesion, academic language use, and reference management. Participants also demonstrated high enthusiasm and began developing independent scientific works for publication purposes. This activity proved that AI-based writing training effectively enhances teachers’ academic productivity and strengthens digital literacy as part of continuous professional development.

Abstract

Modern policing faces increasing challenges due to evolving crime patterns, rapid urbanization, and heightened public expectations regarding security and law-enforcement performance. This study investigates the effectiveness of contemporary policing strategies—particularly community policing, problem-oriented policing, patrol optimization, and crime-mapping analytics—in enhancing public safety and reducing crime rates. Using a mixed-methods approach, this research analyzes five years of crime data from metropolitan regions, evaluates patrol deployment structures, and conducts field interviews with officers, community leaders, and municipal administrators. Results demonstrate that integrated policing models combining proactive patrols, community engagement, and evidence-based crime analysis contribute significantly to property-crime reduction, faster response times, and improved citizen trust. Additionally, the adoption of structured problem-solving frameworks helps police departments identify underlying causes of disorder rather than responding solely to symptoms. However, the study also identifies persistent barriers including resource constraints, uneven officer training, and limited inter-agency data integration. This research contributes to the growing body of policing literature by offering a comprehensive evaluation of multi-layered policing approaches and proposing operational recommendations for enhancing law-enforcement effectiveness and community collaboration.

Abstract

Police–community relations play a critical role in shaping public trust, ensuring democratic accountability, and improving the effectiveness of law enforcement. This study examines the dynamics between police institutions and communities by assessing levels of trust, communication quality, participation in policing programs, and responsiveness to public concerns. Using a mixed-methods approach involving survey data from 1,250 respondents, structured interviews with police officers and community leaders, and field observations, the study identifies key determinants that influence public perceptions of policing. Quantitative findings reveal that transparent communication and community engagement initiatives significantly predict trust levels (p < 0.01), while qualitative insights highlight persistent challenges such as unequal service distribution and limited public participation in decision-making. Results indicate that collaborative policing programs contribute to reductions in neighborhood disputes, increased reporting rates, and enhanced legitimacy of police actions. The study concludes that strengthening police–community relations requires sustainable engagement strategies, institutional reforms promoting accountability, and the integration of community feedback into operational planning. The research contributes to policing science by offering an evidence-based framework for improving social cohesion, enhancing public safety outcomes, and increasing institutional legitimacy.

Abstract

Digital forensic workflows have become critical in modern cybercrime investigations due to the increasing complexity, volume, and volatility of digital evidence. This study examines the structure, effectiveness, and operational challenges of standardized digital forensic workflows across law enforcement environments. Using a mixed-methods approach consisting of workflow simulations, performance evaluation of forensic tools, and interviews with 32 forensic practitioners, this research identifies key procedural bottlenecks and proposes an optimized workflow model. Quantitative data demonstrate that structured workflows reduce evidence processing time by 28% and increase extraction accuracy from 63% to 88%, particularly when automation and triage tools are applied during the initial phases of analysis. Qualitative results reveal that practitioners rely heavily on standardized protocols for chain-of-custody documentation, imaging integrity, and artifact validation. However, challenges persist in tool interoperability, encrypted data extraction, and cross-platform evidence correlation. The study concludes that digital forensic workflows must balance technical rigor with operational flexibility, integrating automation, standardized procedures, and cross-departmental coordination. Contributions to forensic science include a refined workflow framework, identification of critical performance indicators, and operational recommendations for enhancing the reliability and reproducibility of digital investigations.
