Abstract

The global climate crisis, characterized by environmental degradation, ecological inequality, and uneven distribution of impacts, highlights the limitations of the anthropocentric paradigm and reveals conceptual gaps in Islamic ecotheological studies, particularly the lack of systematic integration of hadith analysis within the framework of global climate justice. This study aims to identify, categorize, and reconstruct the hadith-based theocentric paradigm to formulate a normative-ethical framework applicable to climate justice discourse. This study uses a qualitative method with thematic-critical analysis through the stages of hadith inventory on the theme of human-nature relations, thematic classification, and contextual-historical analysis. The results of the study show three main findings: first, the hadith establishes an integral theocentric relationship between God, humans, and nature as a cosmic unity that positions nature as an entity of intrinsic value, not merely an object of exploitation; second, the concepts of trust and ecological caliph are formulated as ethical principles that demand human responsibility in maintaining ecological balance and preventing structural damage; third, the hadith provides a normative basis for criticizing the practice of resource exploitation and ecological inequality that are the roots of climate injustice. Thus, the reconstruction of the theocentric paradigm based on the hadith confirms a shift towards transcendental ecological ethics, enriching Islam’s contribution to the discourse of global climate justice.

Abstract

Digital disruption, characterized by the widespread adoption of information technology and social media, has led to the degradation of moral values, weakened self-control, and distorted social interactions among children and adolescents, as reflected in various global reports on the risks of digital behavior among children and adolescents. These problems demonstrate the limitations of contemporary character education approaches that tend to be normative-instrumental and have not been integrated with operational prophetic values. This study aims to develop a strategic conceptual framework for hadith-based children’s character education that is adaptive to the challenges of digital disruption. The study uses a systematic literature review design based on qualitative content analysis, tracing hadith from authoritative books (kutub al-Sittah) selected according to authenticity criteria (ṣaḥīḥ and ḥasan), then analyzing them through thematic analysis stages that include categorization, coding, and contextual interpretation. The results of the study indicate that the hadiths for children’s character education are structured in four interconnected strategic dimensions: first, spiritual values that build transcendental awareness as the basis for digital responsibility; second, moral-ethical values that emphasize honesty, trustworthiness, and etiquette in content production and consumption; third, social values that strengthen empathy, ethical communication, and concern in virtual interactions; and fourth, the values of discipline and self-control that function as internal regulatory mechanisms against distraction, impulsivity, and technology overuse. These four dimensions are formulated within an operational and contextually integrated conceptual framework for children’s character education in the digital era. Thus, hadith-based character education offers a holistic and adaptive prophetic model as a strategic solution in facing digital disruption.

Abstract

Strengthening the productive-creative work ethic in contemporary Muslim society is hindered by a gap between the normative teachings of the hadith and the practical needs of the modern workplace, which demand professionalism and innovation. Several studies show that the study of hadith on work remains partial and has not yet developed a systematic, operational conceptual framework. This study aims to formulate a conceptual-operational model of a productive-creative work ethic, grounded in the Prophet’s hadith, through an integrated thematic approach. The method used is qualitative literature research with a mawḍūʻī approach, including the stages of takhrīj of hadiths, thematic classification of hadiths on work, productivity, professionalism, and creativity, and a contextual-synthetic analysis to build a coherent conceptual framework. The results of the study indicate the formation of a three-dimensional integrative work ethic model: first, work as productive worship oriented towards the values of usefulness, sincerity, and social responsibility; second, professionalism based on the principles of itqān, trust, and competence that emphasizes quality, accuracy, and accountability of work; Third, creativity and innovation as an effort to adaptively renew methods, strategies, and optimize potential within normative values. These three dimensions are structured within a systemic, interrelated, and applicable framework. It is concluded that the Prophet’s hadith provides both a normative and operational basis for developing a productive-creative work ethic that is relevant to modern demands and contributes to strengthening the methodology of constructive thematic hadith studies.

Abstract

Structural shocks—such as economic crises, social conflicts, and political disruptions—are historical realities that shaped the dynamics of early Islamic communities. However, hadith studies are still dominated by normative, partial readings, thus inadequate for comprehensively explaining collective responses to crises. This study aims to construct a conceptual framework for hadith-based social resilience by analyzing the representation of structural shocks, collective response patterns, and resilience mechanisms of early Islamic communities. This study uses a qualitative approach based on literature reviews, employing thematic-contextual analysis of hadiths selected for their relevance to social crises, which are then classified, coded, and interpreted through socio-historical readings to reconstruct the contexts in which they emerged. The results show that hadiths can be classified into three main patterns of social resilience: First, crisis identification through disruption indicators such as distribution inequality, internal conflict, and vulnerability of marginalized groups; second, collective response strategies that include strengthening solidarity, redistributive obligations (such as zakat and ṣadaqah), and community-based social protection mechanisms; Third, an adaptive prophetic leadership model characterized by situational responsiveness, moral legitimacy, and an orientation toward long-term stability. These findings confirm that the hadith serves as a structured normative-strategic framework for building social resilience. This research expands the approach to hadith studies toward an integrative-contextual reading and offers conceptual contributions to the development of social resilience studies from an Islamic perspective.

Abstract

This article departs from the character of the social hierarchy of pre-Islamic Arab society, which was rigid and exclusive based on lineage, clan, economic status, and gender relations, as well as from the limitations of contemporary hadith and sirah studies, which are still predominantly normative-descriptive, so that they are inadequate in explaining the mechanisms of social change structurally and their implications for the development of hadith studies. This study aims to critically analyze the social policies of the Prophet Muhammad as an agent of transformation of social hierarchy through normative, institutional, and social-praxis dimensions, while also offering a socio-structural reading that is relatively underused in hadith studies. This study uses a qualitative approach based on a thematic-contextual analysis of social hadiths in a purposively selected corpus of canonical hadith books, proceeding through the stages of theme identification, categorization, and contextual interpretation, and is supported by socio-historical readings and a theoretical framework of social change. The results of the study indicate three main mechanisms: first, the deconstruction of lineage-based stratification through the principle of moral equality that negates genealogical superiority; second, the reconstruction of social structures through the inclusion of marginalized groups such as enslaved people and people experiencing poverty in a system of welfare distribution and equitable social relations; third, the institutionalization of inter-tribal solidarity through brotherhood, collective ethical regulation, and the strengthening of women’s roles in the socio-symbolic sphere. This transformation occurred systematically and continuously, resulting in a more egalitarian social order. These findings affirm the Prophet Muhammad as an agent of strategic social change and broaden the horizons of hadith studies toward contextual, relevant socio-structural analysis.

Abstract

Price instability and exploitative practices such as hoarding and monopoly characterized the Medina market during the early transitional phase of Islam. Yet, Islamic economic studies tend to frame the issue of tasʻīr normatively, thereby ignoring the historical and institutional configurations that shape price stability. This study aims to analyze the institutional framework of the Prophet Muhammad’s market governance, measuring it against four main dimensions: market structure, regulation, authority, and economic ethics, in maintaining price stability without coercive intervention. This research is a qualitative-historical study based on a literature review, using an institutional analysis approach and drawing on sources such as hadith, sīrah Nabawiyah, and Islamic economic history literature, and analyzing them through thematic analysis and historical-contextual interpretation to systematically reconstruct market practices. The results show that price stability is formed through the integration of interrelated institutional mechanisms, including the establishment of an open market that eliminates barriers to entry and encourages competition, the enforcement of anti-monopoly and anti-hoarding regulations to suppress structural distortions, the internalization of transaction ethics based on justice, transparency, and the prohibition of gharar to reduce information asymmetry, and the strengthening of the legitimacy of the Prophet’s moral authority as a non-coercive compliance mechanism. These findings confirm that price stability results from institutional arrangements that simultaneously manage market behavior and structure. This research repositions price stability as a product of institutional governance and moral legitimacy within a specific historical context, rather than simply the result of administrative intervention.
