Abstract

The digital era brings significant changes in various aspects of life, including in the world of education. School principals as educational leaders have a strategic role in designing policies to improve the effectiveness of learning, especially in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) subjects. This study aims to analyze the principal's policy in Islamic religious education in Ma'had Al Khadijah MAN 1 Jember and identify the challenges and opportunities that arise in the digital era. This research used a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation which were then analyzed using descriptive-analytical techniques. The results showed that the principal's policy in Ma'had Al Khadijah MAN 1 Jember in Islamic religious education focuses on three main aspects: (1) Integration of technology in Islamic religious education learning through the use of digital platforms and Islamic-based applications; (2) Strengthening students' religious character through digital-based programs that maintain traditional pesantren values; and (3) Increasing teachers' competence in utilizing technology to present more interactive and interesting teaching materials for students. However, in implementing the policy, there are various challenges, such as limited digital infrastructure, the readiness of educators, and the potential degradation of Islamic values due to uncontrolled exposure to technology. Therefore, synergy between school principals, teachers, students, and parents is needed so that the implemented policy can run effectively and in accordance with the objectives of Islamic education.

Abstract

This study discusses the rejection of the conditions for polygamy from a fiqh perspective, particularly within the Hanbali school of thought, through a study of Ibn Qudāmah's book Al-Mughnī . Polygamy is an issue that has not only legal dimensions, but also social and ethical dimensions, especially related to justice, the consent of the first wife, and family welfare. In the Hanbali tradition, Ibn Qudāmah is known as one of the figures who systematically and normatively reorganized the thoughts of Ahmad ibn Hanbal, including in discussions on marriage and polygamy. This study aims to determine how the Hanbali school of thought, through Ibn Qudāmah's work, views the conditions for polygamy such as justice, financial capacity, and the wife's permission. This study uses a qualitative approach with a normative study method on the primary text ( Al-Mughnī ) and is supported by secondary texts in the comparative fiqh literature of the schools. The results of the study indicate that the Hanbali school, as explained by Ibn Qudāmah, in principle does not require the permission of the first wife as a valid basis for polygamy, but emphasizes the requirement of justice as a moral requirement and legal consequence. The rejection of additional requirements such as the wife's permission is seen as an effort to maintain the authority of the text and reject sharia taklīf that is not based on qat'i evidence. This study contributes to the discourse of Islamic family law, particularly in distinguishing between normative requirements based on texts and administrative requirements based on benefits and the contemporary context.

Abstract

The background of the problem at PSHT Komisariat IAIN Ponorogo is the lack of understanding about noble character attitudes and behavior among its members. PSHT members tend to have attitudes that do not fully reflect the noble values inherent in the teachings of Setia Hati Terate martial arts. The cause of this problem is that members often feel superior due to their martial arts training, which involves physical and mental discipline, leading to a sense of being the best among others. Martial arts teachings typically incorporate noble values that have been guiding principles for centuries, given that martial arts are a national heritage worth preserving. To address the lack of awareness among members about the importance of noble character attitudes, PSHT Komisariat IAIN Ponorogo incorporates habituation practices that implement noble character attitudes through the philosophy of "Memayu Hayuning Bawana" during training sessions. This research aims to investigate two primary objectives (1) To examine the understanding and implementation of noble values embedded in the "Memayu Hayuning Bawana" concept among PSHT members at Komisariat IAIN Ponorogo. (2) To explore the implications of implementing these noble values on the members of PSHT Komisariat IAIN Ponorogo. This study adopts a qualitative research approach, gathering data through in-depth interviews and observational techniques. The theoretical framework is grounded in Peter L. Berger's social construction theory, which provides insight into the formation of noble character attitudes through social interactions. Based on the data analysis, it was found that (1) The implementation of noble character attitudes through the "Memayu Hayuning Bawana" philosophy at PSHT Komisariat IAIN Ponorogo occurs during training and shapes positive attitudes through social interaction. (2) This implementation fosters positive attitudes among members, including: a culture of greeting and respect, brotherhood, good speech, tolerance, and responsibility.

Abstract

The ecological crisis that increasingly threatens the survival of life on earth has placed religion, particularly Islam, under intense scrutiny due to the silence of some religious institutions on environmental degradation. Mlokorejo Islamic Boarding School, as a traditional Islamic educational institution based in a rural area, presents itself in this context as an interesting case study to explore the extent to which religion and religious institutions can play a critical role in responding to environmental degradation. The background to this research stems from concerns over the lack of active involvement of Islamic boarding schools in environmental discourse and action, despite Islamic values being imbued with ecotheological principles that emphasize the balance and sustainability of nature. The purpose of this study is to explore the potential of Islamic boarding schools in building ecological awareness and to re-examine the role of religion, which has been considered passive in environmental issues. The research questions are formulated as follows: First, what is the role of Mlokorejo Islamic Boarding School in responding to the ecological crisis in its surroundings? Second, how are Islamic values integrated into shaping ecotheological awareness within the Islamic boarding school environment? The method used was a qualitative-descriptive approach with participant observation, in-depth interviews, and literature review. Preliminary research results indicate that the Mlokorejo Islamic boarding school has great potential to become a center for ecotheological education, but remains hampered by a lack of environmental literacy, limited resources, and the lack of integration of ecological issues into the religious curriculum. Meanwhile, a new awareness is emerging among young people in the Islamic boarding school to connect Islamic teachings with ecological responsibility as a form of worship and social ethics.

Abstract

The rapid expansion of algorithm-driven digital platforms has reshaped the epistemic landscape of Islamic da'wah. In this environment, the credibility of religious messages is no longer determined solely by scholarly authority, but increasingly by the logic of algorithmic visibility, audience engagement patterns, and the performative attributes of digital preachers. This study examines how da'wah credibility is constructed, negotiated, and contested within the algorithmic public sphere, and how digital literacy functions as a critical mediating factor for both preachers and audiences. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, digital observations, and documentation involving ten digital preachers, fifteen active social-media users, and two digital-literacy experts. The results indicate that algorithmic amplification favors emotional, sensational, and engagement-oriented religious content, often marginalizing substantive and scholarly-based da'wah. The study also reveals significant gaps in digital literacy among both preachers and audiences, contributing to the spread of religious misinformation and the emergence of popularity-based religious authority. This research contributes a novel integrative model that links credibility, algorithmic dynamics, and digital literacy within the digital da'wah ecosystem. The findings underscore the urgency of strengthening digital-literacy programs to maintain epistemic integrity, enhance critical consumption of religious content, and support responsible Islamic communication in an increasingly algorithm-governed public sphere.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the integration of Islamic economic principles and local wisdom in damar plantation management in Pakel Guci Alit Village, as well as its implications for community welfare and interreligious harmony. Historically, the village's economic activities are closely linked to damar cultivation, which not only functions as the main economic source but also serves as a social arena fostering solidarity, tolerance, and community cohesion. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, this research explores the experiences, perceptions, and collective meanings of community members through in-depth interviews, field observations, and participatory documentation. The findings indicate that the integration of sharia economic principles such as justice, trustworthiness, shura (consultation), proportional distribution, and prohibition of exploitation aligns with local wisdom practices including mutual cooperation, collective decision-making, and traditional communal rituals. These combined values create a sustainable, equitable, and inclusive economic governance system. The study further reveals that such value integration enhances not only economic productivity but also strengthens interreligious harmony, as socio-economic interactions occur within an ethical framework shared by all community members. This research contributes a new conceptual model of community-based economic development rooted in the synergy between religious values and local wisdom as a viable strategy for sustainable rural development .
