In the context of sustainable development (Sustainable Development Goals), the values contained in the pamali tradition can be conceptualized as cultural capital that plays a strategic role in forming a collective awareness of the importance of environmental conservation. Therefore, the internalization of pamali values can be a cultural basis in building social character that is rooted in local wisdom and oriented towards ecological sustainability.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of the locality approach in history learning through the integration of Pamali cultural values  in West Nusa Tenggara. The locality approach is seen as a contextual strategy that links the learning process to the socio-cultural environment of students, thereby strengthening the relevance of education to the formation of local identity and character. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design carried out in one of the junior high schools in East Lombok Regency. Data was collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with teachers and students, and analysis of curriculum documents and lesson plans. The results of the study show that the Pamali values  that live in Lombok society, such as the prohibition of actions that damage social harmony and the environment, have great potential in fostering students' moral awareness, discipline, and social responsibility. The integration of these values in history learning provides space for students to understand the meaning of past events contextually and reflectively. In addition to enriching social studies learning content, the application of this locality approach also strengthens the dimension of character education based on local wisdom that is relevant to the spirit of Pancasila and the goals of national education. The implications of this study emphasize the need for curriculum innovation that is responsive to the regional cultural context, in order to create a history learning model that has character, inclusiveness, and is oriented towards strengthening national identity in the global era.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has reshaped the moral landscape of young citizens, challenging traditional approaches to civic and moral education. This study explores how Civic Education (Pendidikan Kewarganegaraan) can cultivate moral awareness through the integration of social-emotional character development in the digital era. Using a qualitative descriptive approach and literature-based analysis, the research synthesizes theoretical perspectives from moral philosophy, social-emotional learning (SEL), and digital citizenship frameworks. The findings reveal that moral awareness is not merely a cognitive competence but a multidimensional construct involving empathy, digital responsibility, and ethical reflection. Civic Education serves as a strategic platform for nurturing these dimensions by embedding digital ethics, emotional literacy, and community-based learning in classroom practices. The study also emphasizes the importance of character-based digital literacy to counter online disinformation, cyberbullying, and moral disengagement. In conclusion, the article proposes a transformative model of Civic Education that integrates moral awareness with socio-emotional intelligence, enabling learners to act responsibly and compassionately in digital society. This model contributes to the broader discourse on education for sustainable moral development and supports the realization of SDG 4.7 concerning global citizenship and sustainable values.

Abstract

This research aims to develop a geotourism-based learning model to enhance students’ understanding of geography concepts and environmental awareness at MAN 1 Bima. The study arose from the low ability of students to connect geographical concepts with real environmental phenomena. The research employed a qualitative approach with a model development design. Participants consisted of 50 individuals, including 45 grade XI social science students and 5 geography teachers. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis, then analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model. The findings revealed that the developed model consists of three main components: field exploration, conceptual reflection, and conservation action. The model effectively increased student engagement, spatial understanding, and environmental awareness, particularly regarding local natural tourism management and disaster mitigation. Therefore, the geotourism-based learning model is recommended as a pedagogical innovation for geography education at the secondary school level.

Abstract

The development of information and communication technology has brought very significant changes to the social life of modern society, especially among the younger generation. One of the tangible manifestations of this development is the presence of social media which is now an integral part of daily activities. Social media not only functions as a means of communication, but also as a space for self-expression, opinion formation, and arena for social and cultural identity construction. In the context of Indonesia's young generation, social media has a great influence in shaping their mindsets, behaviors, and ways of understanding and representing cultural identities in the midst of an increasingly strong flow of digital globalization. This study aims to describe the influence of social media on the construction of cultural identity of the young generation of Indonesia. The approach used is qualitative with a descriptive method, through in-depth interview techniques, observation, and literature study. The results of the study show that social media has an ambivalent role. On the one hand, social media can strengthen awareness of local culture through the dissemination of creative content with nuances of local wisdom. But on the other hand, social media also encourages a shift in values, lifestyles, and cultural symbols due to strong global cultural penetration. These findings confirm that digital literacy and culture-based character education are very important to equip the younger generation to be able to adapt critically without losing their identity and national values in the midst of the rapid flow of global modernization.
