Abstract

The lack of public understanding of microorganisms is due to limited access to information and a negative reputation among the public. One of the approaches to introduce basic microbiology was through interactive exhibitions, bridging microbiology and art. However, there were few reports on the Indonesia Microbial-Art interactive exhibition. Therefore, this study aims to explore the impact of the fusion microbial art interactive exhibition on the public's basic microbial understanding and to study its potential for long-term implementation. This study was conducted by descriptive qualitative approach using thematic analysis based on two exhibition guest’s testimonials that had been organized by Microartmunity, a community that focuses on fusion art and microbiology. In total, there were 92 participants from various academic backgrounds who gave the testimonials. These testimonials were then categorized into four themes: creativity, education, acceptance, and future expectations. Based on the results, 32% of respondents hoped for the continuation of Microbial Art interactive exhibition, including future exhibitions, workshops, the extended presence of the Microartmunity community, and collaborations with relevant stakeholders. The interactive microbial art exhibition also received a positive response from the public, with a response rate of 26%. It suggests that art had an interesting role in delivering scientific information. The public enthusiasm highlights a huge interest in fusion art-science exhibitions. In conclusion, interactive microbial art exhibitions have the potential to be an educational tool in the future.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the implementation of the GeoGebra Classroom-assisted Problem Based Learning model to improve the mathematical literacy skills of deaf students in geometry material. The study also describes the mathematical literacy skills of deaf students by implementing the GeoGebra Classroom-assisted Problem Based Learning model. The method used is mixed methods, which is a combined approach between quantitative and qualitative. The research conducted applies a quantitative approach with the Single Subject Research (SSR) method with an A-B-A design, namely baseline-1 (A1), intervention, and baseline-2 (A2) phase which is continued with a qualitative approach with a qualitative descriptive method. The subjects of the study were five deaf students in class X of SLBN Semarang. Data collection techniques using the form of observation, interviews, questionnaires, and tests. Data analyzed using descriptive statistics, data reduction, data presentation, data interpretation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that: 1) the GeoGebra Classroom-assisted Problem Based Learning model is effective in improving the mathematical literacy skills of all subjects. Cognitively, there was an increase in the value of the five subjects respectively by 24, 11, 24, 23.5, and 26 points. The affective aspect also showed an increase in the dimensions of curiosity, accuracy, responsibility, never giving up, enthusiasm for learning, self-confidence, and interest in learning. The psychomotor aspect also showed an increase in all dimensions 2) the responses of the five research subjects were very positive by 90.90%, 95.45%, 86.36%, 97.72%, and 88.63%.

Abstract

The AKM results at SMP Negeri 6 Pati indicate low mathematical literacy among students, necessitating innovative learning approaches that connect mathematical concepts to real-world contexts through technology. This study aims to design Problem-Based Learning using student worksheets assisted by MathCityMap to enhance students' mathematical literacy. The method employed is Design Research, comprising three stages: preparation and design, teaching experiment, and retrospective analysis. The research sample consisted of seventh-grade students in class VII A at SMP Negeri 6 Pati. Data collection techniques included tests, interviews, observations, documentation, and literature reviews. Validation results indicated that the tools were highly valid, with average scores of 90% for the teaching module, 93.5% for the media, and 95% for the literacy questions. The average pre-test score of 51 increased to 86.7 on the post-test. The Paired Sample T-Test showed a significant difference, and the N-Gain test yielded a score of 0.73 (high category). It was concluded that the Problem-Based Learning teaching tool using student worksheets assisted by MathCityMap is valid, feasible, and capable of improving students' mathematical literacy.

Abstract

Science education in junior high school continues to face difficulties in improving student learning outcomes, especially in physical and chemical changes topic. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of the experimental learning method in improving student learning outcomes at SMP Negeri 3 Cikancung. The method used in this study is a quantitative approach with a One Group Pretest–Posttest design. Data were analysed using non-parametric statistical tests and N-Gain value calculations to measure the improvement in students' learning outcomes. The normality test showed that the data were not normally distributed, with a p-value of 0.000; therefore, the analysis was continued with the Wilcoxon test. The analysis results showed a significant difference between students' initial and final scores, with p = 0.000. The average final scores of the students increased, with a N-Gain percentage of 78.11%, which is considered high. This finding indicates that implementing experimental methods for the topic of physical and chemical changes is effective in improving students' learning outcomes. This research makes a significant contribution to the development of more innovative teaching methods in science education at the junior high school level.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of elective English for Specific Purposes (ESP) in preparing beauty vocational students for participation in the global workforce. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, the research was conducted at SMKN 2 Selong, East Lombok, and involved 15 participants comprising students, teachers, and a curriculum coordinator. Data was gathered through interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis, and then analyzed thematically to identify patterns in instructional practices and stakeholder perceptions. The findings indicate that integrating beauty-specific English content into ESP instruction enhances students’ communicative competence, motivation, and confidence in professional contexts. The use of authentic materials such as product catalogs, salon manuals, and customer-service simulations was found to increase classroom engagement and support practical language use. However, the study also identified key challenges, including limited instructional resources, inadequate teacher training, and the lack of performance-based assessment. The study implies that ESP is essential for bridging language education and industry needs in vocational settings. To maximize its effectiveness, stronger institutional support, targeted teacher development, and collaboration with the beauty industry are recommended.
