Abstract

In an effort to improve the strength of the nation to competethrough higher education, this study was taken with an objective toknow the concentration and quality of private universities under theRegion XII Private University Coordinative Body using (1)Geographical Information System Analysis, (2) Table Analysis, and (3)Logit Model Analysis. It was found that, of the 75 private universities inthe region, 48% were geographically concentrated in Papua Province, 21.33% in Maluku, 17.33% in West Papua, and 13.33% in North Maluku. It was suggested that (1) the government attention should bedirected either through human resources improvement or localeconomic development; (2) the government commitment was needed toadvocate the human resources in each region to be the future leaders inimproving the quality of private universities to fulfil the expectation ofHELTS; and (3) the institutional capacity improvement needed to beextended

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to make a device of the development of an entrepreneurship training, develop a model of theentrepreneurship training, and create the material ofentrepreneurship training for the employment of joblesstownspeople. The study employed research and development as themethod and used qualitative and quantitative approaches as themethods of analyses. After a series of try-outswere conducted, thereal field operational test was performed by using a pre-test andpost-test design. The data were collected through interviews,participative observations, intensive discussion, documentationstudy, and questionnaires. A mark-test was utilized for thedescriptiveand inferential statistical calculations. Findings of thestudy consisted of a design of the entrepreneurship training devicefor the applicant of the fresh entrepreneur group in the city, a modelof entrepreneurship training for the employment of joblesstownspeople, an entrepreneurship training material modulefor theemployment of joblesstownspeople, and an effective model ofentrepreneurship training and material for the employment ofjobless townspeople.

Abstract

This study aimed at planning, constructing, and examining a computer-based learning media to support the implementation ofconstructivist learning in the metrology subject matter. The study usedthe Research and Development (RD) approach. The research stagesincluded: (1) competencies identification, (2) literature review, (3) software development, (4) quality testing, (5) empirical testing, (6) monitoring, (7) software revision, and (8) recording the program.Quantitative data were collected by means of observation sheets,depth interview, and documentation. Data were analyzed using thedescriptive quantitative analysis technique. The results showed that:(1 the quality of the developed media was 73, 13 % (good), (2) thequality of program presentation was at 72, 66 % (good), and (3) theresult of student testing was 76, 14 % (good). It was concluded thatthe developed media was appropriate for use in teaching and learningactivities.

Abstract

The purpose of this policy study was for identifying database thatcould be used to develop a school information system (SIS) and foridentifying external and internal stake holders that could be used asdata and information to be filed in SIS. The results of the study couldbe used to make recommendation for schools about the merits ofbuilding an SIS, intranet, and internet system. As a case study, thisresearch was held in State Senior High School 1, Jetis, Bantul. Datawere gathered from interviews and documentation. Evaluative analysiswas used to yield research results and descriptive analysis was used toformulate the recommendation to be extended to the schools. Dataanalyses and discussion brought about these conclusions andrecommendation:(1) Structure database were available that could beused to develop an SIS, (2) Those database could be categorized intospecific data and information about the institution, curriculum,school’s infrastructure, teachers, instruction, grades, students, newstudent admission process, alumnus, school’s library, worker, andschool’s monetary, (3) Teachers, students, functionaries of StateSenior High School 1, Jetis and the public could access data andinformation kept in the SIS, and (4) The schools may be expected tobuild an SIS, intranet, and internet.

Abstract

The aim of the study was to identify 1) the level of emotionalquotient of the lecturers of Mathematics and Natural Sciences basedon their gender at various universities in the Province ofYogyakarta, and 2) the differences in the emotional quotient amongthe lecturers. The study was ex-post facto research. As the researchvariable, emotional quotient was defined as the scores resultingfrom the EQ questionnaire to include self emotion knowing, selfemotion management, self motivation, others emotion knowing, andrelationship construction. The population of the study wasdesignated to be the lecturers of Mathematics and Natural Sciencesat various universities in Yogyakarta Province. The sample of thestudy consisted of 141 lecturers, 72 male and 69 female, taken bypurposive random sampling technique. The instrument was thequestionnaire adapted from relevant references (Ridwan Saptoto:2002). Data were analyzed qualitatively by conversion criteria. EQdifferences were computed statistically by a t-test. Results showedthat the average score of EQ levels of male and female lecturerswere 79.6% (very high criteria) and 78.2% (high criteria). Thedifference (1.4%) was not statistically significant

Abstract

The aim of this study was to know the students’ responses forlearning mathematics by using the realistic approach. Suchstudents’ responses were important as reference for follow up in theimplementation of mathematics realistic education applied atschool. The study was descriptive research. The subjects of thestudy were students of Year 2, Santa Agnes Junior High School inSurabaya. Data were obtained by observing the teacher’scompetence in managing instruction, observing students activities,an achievement test, and a student questionnaire. The researchresulst showed that, out of a total of 53 students, more than 75%gave positive responses on the approach. They further showed that:(1) the students liked all of the learning components (83, 02%), (2)The students considered that all of the learning components werenew things (79, 24%), (3) the students had a great interest to jointhe learning through the realistic approach (88, 68%), and (4) thestudents considered that the student books and student worksheetswere understandable and interesting (83, 96%)

Abstract

This study was intended to describe the instilling of moral valuesat assigned kindergartens of 'Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal’ in YogyakartaCity. The description was expected to picture the method that influencedmoral education to be chosen for the appreciative instilling of earlychildhood. The subjects of the study consisted of teachers at fiveAisyiyah Bustanul Athfal (ABA) Muhammadiyah kindergartenscovering: TK ABA Gedongkiwo, TK ABA Karangkajen, TK ABAKarangkunthi, TK ABA Pandeyan II, and TK ABA Karanganyar. Datawere gathered by observation, interview, and documentation.Authenticity probing techniques were utilized as triangulation. Theresults indicated that methods of moral value education were: storytelling, play, field trip, singing, out bond, inuring, figure of speech,poem, and discussion. One method which was usually being utilized wasrelating and inuring. Instilling methods indicated that moral teachingapparently led to students’ behavioural change, from one inauspiciousto turning good. Faced constraints in performing moral point instillingcovered: its reducing of gnostic deep relates and its reducing media tobe utilized for deep relates, and inconsistencies which often happenedbetween what the teacher did at school and what other elders did athome of in the surrounding environments
