Abstract

This article delves into the troubling violations of political participation that unfolded during the 2024 Bantul Regent Election, viewed through the lens of the General Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu). The study meticulously uncovers a range of infractions, including the insidious practice of vote buying, the alarming lack of impartiality among village officials, and the rampant spread of misinformation that has cast a shadow over public political engagement. Moreover, the research probes into the socio-economic dynamics and the intricate local power pressures that shape electoral participation, revealing a complex web of influences at play. The findings starkly illustrate how the involvement of officials in these violations and the prevalence of vote buying erode public trust in the very foundations of democracy. In light of these revelations, this article advocates for a robust strengthening of oversight, a commitment to political education, and a push for transparency in the electoral process, aiming to nurture a vibrant and cohesive form of political participation that truly reflects the will of the people.analyses socio-economic factors and local power pressures that influence participation. Abstract

The Regional Representative Council is a representative body at the regional level. It is one of the forms of regional government that has the authority, rights, and obligations to administer its regional government, particularly within its electoral district, to meet the needs of its people. As members of the DPRD, they must also be able to accommodate, absorb and gather the aspirations of the people in their region. The purpose of this study is to analyse the role of Lamongan DPRD members, particularly those from the PKB faction, in absorbing the people's aspirations and to identify the factors that support and hinder the absorption of these aspirations. A qualitative research method was employed, utilising a descriptive approach, which involved collecting data through interviews and observations. The results of this study indicate that the role of PKB faction DPRD members in Lamongan Regency in absorbing community aspirations is carried out through various mechanisms, namely through recesses, working visits, and informal activities. The commitment of Council members and community participation influences the supporting factors. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factors indicate budget and time constraints.

Abstract

The implementation of Transparency and Accountability is a crucial element in creating good governance. These two aspects are interrelated because the East Java Provincial Inspectorate is a supervisory institution that plays a vital role in monitoring and evaluating the performance of local government institutions. However, in this study, the implementation of Transparency covers the internal scope. This study was designed to examine how the East Java Provincial Government Inspectorate maintains Transparency to realise Accountability in the Finance Sub-Section. The method employed in this study is qualitative, with a descriptive approach, where primary data were collected through interviews with treasurers and staff of the Finance Sub-Section. Additionally, secondary data is obtained through a literature review. The results of the study show that the East Java Provincial Inspectorate demonstrates its Transparency by providing access to finance staff to participate in realising accountability in the Finance Sub-Section. Granting access is restricted to finance staff to maintain system security. Although negligence still occurs occasionally, the Finance Sub-Section remains responsible for addressing it.
