Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of artificial light intensity on hydroponic vegetable production during the rainy season. Limited sunlight during the rainy season often reduces plant growth and productivity. An experimental method using a randomized block design with four light intensity treatments was applied. Observed parameters included plant height, leaf number, fresh weight, and harvest yield. Data were analyzed using variance analysis. Results indicated that artificial light significantly improved plant growth and production. Moderate to high light intensity treatments showed optimal results by supporting photosynthesis efficiency. The findings suggest that artificial lighting can serve as an effective strategy to stabilize hydroponic vegetable production during low natural light conditions. In conclusion, appropriate artificial light management enhances hydroponic productivity during the rainy season.

Abstract

The reuse of wastewater from plant cultivation is an important strategy in sustainable agriculture. Verticulture wastewater generally still contains nutrient residues that may pose environmental risks if not properly managed. Biofloc technology offers a biological solution through microbial activity capable of degrading organic compounds and dissolved nitrogen. This study aimed to analyze the effect of applying biofloc to verticulture wastewater on environmental quality and the growth of hydroponic vegetables. A completely randomized design was employed with three treatments: no biofloc (B0), low-dose biofloc (B1), and optimal-dose biofloc (B2), each replicated three times. Observed parameters included pH, ammonia, nitrate concentration, plant height, leaf number, and fresh biomass. The results indicated that the optimal biofloc treatment reduced ammonia levels by 35–40% and significantly improved plant growth and biomass production (p < 0.05). Plants under treatment B2 exhibited the highest growth and fresh weight. The application of biofloc effectively enhanced water quality while supporting vegetable productivity. This system shows strong potential as an environmentally friendly agricultural model and as an applied learning medium in vocational schools.

Abstract

Elephant grass (Pennisetum purpureum) is commonly utilized as animal feed; therefore, alternative applications with higher added value are needed. Elephant grass contains cellulose that can be used as a raw material for handmade paper production. This study aimed to determine the tensile strength, tear resistance, and organoleptic characteristics of art paper produced from elephant grass with different concentrations of Na₂CO₃ and natural dyes. The research employed an experimental method using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with two treatment factors. Factor A was Na₂CO₃ concentration: A1 (10%), A2 (12.5%), and A3 (15%). Factor B was natural dye type: B1 (pandan leaf) and B2 (mangosteen peel), with each treatment replicated twice. Data collection was conducted using descriptive qualitative analysis. The results showed that the highest tensile strength was obtained in treatment A3B1 (15% Na₂CO₃ with pandan leaf dye), reaching 19.7038 N, while the highest tear resistance was observed in treatment A3B2 (15% Na₂CO₃ with mangosteen peel dye), reaching 16.3454 N. Organoleptic evaluation indicated that the best texture and fiber appearance were found in treatment A1B2, while the most preferred color and overall acceptability were achieved in treatment A2B1. These findings demonstrate that elephant grass has strong potential as an environmentally friendly raw material for art paper through appropriate alkali concentration and natural dye variation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the integration of environmental theology concepts and values into the religious training system at Balai Diklat Keagamaan Denpasar and to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors in its implementation. The research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The findings reveal that environmental theological values such as khalifah (stewardship), trust (amanah), prohibition of environmental destruction (fasad), and the principle of rahmatan lil ‘alamin have been substantively integrated into training materials, particularly through religious moderation perspectives and reflective learning methods. Supporting factors include strong normative religious foundations, the paradigm of religious moderation, participatory learning approaches, and Bali’s socio-religious context that promotes harmony with nature. Inhibiting factors include the absence of an explicit eco-theology curriculum, limited ecological literacy among trainers, time constraints within the training structure, and the lack of measurable ecological behavior indicators. The study concludes that institutional strengthening through thematic eco-theology curriculum development and capacity building of human resources is essential to establish a religious training system that is responsive to environmental crises.
