Abstract

The enactment of autonomy in Indonesia is to minimize the dependence of regional/local governments on the central government. In this case the regional/local government must be able to increase the source of revenue for the region. When fiscal stress is high, the government tends to explore the potential for tax revenues. The ability of an area to explore Original Local Government Revenue (PAD) will affect the development of the area. One of the important tasks of the Regional Government is to provide and build public infrastructure through the allocation of capital expenditure in the Regional Government Budget (APBD). Capital expenditure is the expenditure of the Regional Government which has the leverage to drive the economy. To measure the financial capacity of the local government is to analyze the financial ratios of APBD. This study use method of panel data, which is a combination of data time series (time series) and the data cross (cross section) in each province Indonesia 2016 - 2018. The method from this research use FEM (fixed effect model). The result shows that PAD has significant effect to efficiency ratio of government independence performance in each province in Indonesia. It means that high to low PAD has been influenced in ratio efficiency performance of independence. In this case the high and low fiscal ftress and capital expenditure do not have an influence on efficiency ratio of goverment independence performance.

Abstract

This paper argues that besides firm’s internal factors, institutions may also affect a firm’s participation in the production network. By analyzing the effect of access to credit, import license, and competition from the informal sector, this study attempts to provide an empirical study about institutions and firms’ participation in the Global Production Network (GPN), study case in Indonesia. A logistic regression analysis shows that most variables are statistically significant, with some variations between larger firms and Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs). Access to credit, as an obstacle, negatively influences SMEs’ participation, implying that SMEs in Indonesia are still constrained by financial institutions. Meanwhile, an import license can be regarded as the most crucial factor for the larger companies and SMEs, implying that it provides firms with more access to resources that may benefit their competitiveness. On the other hand, the informal sector tends to more negatively affect the larger firms than the SMEs, suggesting that its impact occurs through a specific channel. The findings highlight the influence of institutions on a firm’s participation in the GPN and provide certain policy implications, i.e., financial development systems, signaling policies, simplifying procedures of granting import permits, and implementing a tax for the informal firms.

Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between the sharia stock index and market capitalization in Indonesia for the period 2011-2019. This study uses secondary data, it is monthly time series data with 97 months observation period from May 2011 until March 2019. The analysis technique of this study is the granger causality test that is complemented by the impulse response and variance decomposition test. the findings of the study indicated that there was only a one-way causality relationship between the sharia stock index variable and market capitalization, which only the changes of market capitalization in the past affected the changes of the sharia stock trading value in the present but not vice versa.  The effect of market capitalization changes will be responded strongly by sharia stock in the second and third month, and then return to a new stable condition. Furthermore, the changes in the value of market capitalization provide a sizable and continuous contribution to the changes of sharia stock trading value

Assistance results in 15 villages in Gempol Subdistrict, Pasuruan Regency, show that village financial management software can be applied properly. Assistance results in 15 villages in Gempol Subdistrict, Pasuruan Regency, show that village financial management software can be applied properly. Although there are still some difficulties in implementation due to the lack of skills of the village apparatus due to age and parameter constraints that need to be adjusted. In general, the software still needs to be refined related to the filling and storage stages that are still considered inefficient. On the other hand, a tutorial guide book that has been tested from several aspects is considered very adequate. The usefulness of the village financial management guide book is very helpful for beginners in applying village financial management software.

Abstract

This study aims to measure systemic risk in conventional commercial banks in Indonesia with the Conditional Value at Risk (CoVaR) model developed by Adrian and Brunnermeier (2009). The financial crises of 1998 and 2008 have become valuable lessons for Indonesian banks to always maintain financial system stability because the impact caused by systemic risks is very large. Systemic risk is the possibility of instability due to contagion in some or all of the financial system. This study uses a sample of 6 conventional commercial banks in Indonesia from January 2012 to December 2018. The results obtained from this study is the systemic risk is not related to the size of banks. Each bank has a negative externality so that it can cause a bank rush and systemic impact.

Abstract

Investment in transport infrastructure is one of the important actions to accelerate regional development because it will open access among regions. Thus, it can lead to accelerating economic growth. This study aims to analyze the short-run and long-run relationship between economic growth and air transportation in ASEAN-10 countries. The data used in this study are the number of air transport passengers, air transport carrier, air freights, interactions between passengers and air transport carrier, and gross domestic product growth sourced from World Bank in a year period of 2002-2017. Panel ARDL is used in this analysis. Based on the specification, estimation, and examination of the model, the Panel ARDL is the best choice model. The Panel ARDL model shows that in the short term there is no significant relationship between air transportation and economic growth, but in the long term explains, except air freight, that air transport passengers, air transport airline, the interaction between passengers and air transport airlines have a significant effect on ASEAN-10 economic growth. This study emphasizes that to increase economic growth, increase in air transportation services is an important factor.
