Abstract

Objective: The main goal of this study is to examine the impact of applying a Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model, grounded in local wisdom and integrated with a STEAM approach, on improving students' creative thinking skills in high school physics education. This objective aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially those focused on quality education. Method: This research employs a literature review methodology utilizing qualitative descriptive methods. It analyzes various national and international journals related to project-based learning based on local wisdom, published within the last five years. Results: In the research, work and project-based learning becomes discovery significantly enhances students' understanding of physics concepts. The study demonstrates that PjBL fosters deeper learning, allowing students to develop not only their comprehension of physics but also essential skills such as problem-solving, creativity, and teamwork in real-world contexts. Moreover, integrating local wisdom within the PjBL framework increases students' interest in cultural preservation and enhances their scientific literacy through hands-on project activities. Novelty: The novelty of the research lies in the unique integration of local wisdom into the PjBL STEAM framework, an area that remains relatively underexplored in existing literature. By combining these elements, the study contributes to innovative teaching methodologies aimed at improving academic outcomes while promoting cultural awareness and appreciation among students. This approach offers a fresh perspective on aligning educational practices with global educational goals, all while fostering the creativity and critical thinking skills essential for the 21st century.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to examine the potential integration of ethnophysics through traditional games in sustainable physics learning. This approach is expected to produce learning that is interactive, conceptual, and relevant to local cultural values while answering the challenges in education in the modern era. Method: This research employs a descriptive approach, utilizing a systematic literature review method or literature study. Literature review research consists of several stages, including problem formulation, research, literature search, determination of inclusion and exclusion criteria, literature selection, data presentation, data processing, and conclusion. Results: The results demonstrated that this method was effective in enhancing students' understanding of physics concepts while preserving local culture. Traditional games are also considered relevant in facing learning challenges, such as low digital literacy skills and limited internet access. Additionally, this integration supports the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in achieving quality education (SDG 4) and preserving local culture (SDG 11). Novelty: The uniqueness of this research lies in the combination of local wisdom values with physics learning, as it creates relevant, meaningful, and sustainable learning experiences. This research can also explore the integration of traditional games in physics education across various cultural contexts and educational levels. This combination offers an innovative approach that enhances conceptual understanding and reinforces local cultural identity.

Abstract

Objective: One of the most common things that a country uses as a reference is to know and measure the level of prosperity of its people through the level of economic growth. The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of budget deficit variables, government spending variables, and foreign debt variables on economic growth. This study focuses on Indonesia as the research location and spans the period from 2000 to 2019. Method: This study employs quantitative calculation methods and multiple linear regression analysis (Ordinary Least Squares), which is processed using EViews software. Results: The study's findings indicate that, partially, the budget deficit and foreign debt have a significant impact on economic growth, while government spending does not have a significant effect on economic growth. While simultaneously, the three variables (budget deficit, government spending, and foreign debt) have a significant effect on economic growth. Novelty: Unlike previous studies, this study utilizes the latest and broader data, focusing on a single country, and finds differences in the results of the influence between variables.

Abstract

Objective: As one of the components of economic growth in Indonesia, domestic investment experiences inequality problems. This study aims to identify the influence of infrastructure, workforce, and market size on domestic investment in Indonesia in 2023. Method: This study uses a quantitative approach using multiple linear regression analysis methods on cross-section data from 34 provinces in Indonesia. The data used in this study comes from the Indonesian Central Bureau of Statistics. Results: After a quantitative approach using multiple linear regression analysis methods, the results obtained are: (1) infrastructure in the form of road stability has a significant positive effect on domestic investment or Domestic Investment (PMDN); (2) market size in the form of Gross Regional Domestic Product (PDRB) has a significant positive effect on domestic investment; (3) the workforce represented by the number of workers has a negative effect on domestic investment, but is not significant; and (4) together, there is an influence of infrastructure, workforce, and market size on the value of domestic investment. Novelty: In contrast to most previous studies that focused more on analyzing foreign investment, this study focuses on the determinants of domestic investment (PMDN) in Indonesia.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to analyze the effect of price fluctuations of food commodities shallots, rice, and cayenne pepper—on inflation in East Java. Inflation is a persistent economic issue that affects all regions in Indonesia, often triggered by shock factors such as volatile commodity prices. Understanding the dynamics between key food prices and inflation is crucial for formulating effective regional economic policies. Method: This quantitative research uses monthly time-series data from 2021 to 2023 and applies the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) for analysis. The data were obtained from the East Java Staple Food Availability and Price Development Information System and the Central Statistics Agency. The research includes stationarity tests, cointegration tests, and impulse response analysis, all conducted using EViews 12 software. Results: In the short term, shallot prices have a negative and significant effect on inflation, rice prices have a positive and significant effect, and cayenne pepper prices show a positive but insignificant effect. In the long term, both shallot and rice prices exert a positive and significant impact, while cayenne pepper prices have a negative and significant effect on inflation in East Java. Novelty: Unlike previous studies, this research simultaneously analyzes the short- and long-term effects of multiple staple food commodities on regional inflation using recent post-pandemic data. The study contributes to a better understanding of how different food price shocks affect inflation dynamics at the provincial level, supporting the design of more targeted inflation control strategies in East Java.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to analyze the factors that support and inhibit the sustainability of tobacco farmers' businesses in various agroecosystems in Kediri Regency. Methods: This study employed exploratory qualitative research methods, collecting data through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis from farmers, tobacco experts, companies, and the Agricultural Extension Agency.  Results: The study indicates that the supporting factors for the sustainability of tobacco farmers' businesses include appropriate agroecosystem conditions, government support in the form of subsidies and training, as well as partnerships with the tobacco industry. However, the sustainability of this business also faces various obstacles, such as price fluctuations, dependence on intermediaries, limited access to capital and technology, and increasingly stringent regulations on the tobacco industry. Novelty: The differences in agroecosystems among the three sub-districts studied also impact the level of productivity and economic resilience of farmers. This study emphasizes the importance of government policies that are more pro-farmer and increasing access to more efficient agricultural technology to improve the competitiveness and welfare of tobacco farmers in Kediri Regency.
