Abstract

Abstract The leftover is a classic problem founded in many hospitals in Indonesia. The number of leftover can cause loss of nutrition for patient after hospitalization. Lack of nutrients will have an impact on nonoptimal nutritional status which will disrupted the healing process. If the patient does not finish the food as well as recommended and this goes on for a long time, it will cause the nutrients deficiency, also resulting in hospital malnutrition. The fact in supplying the soft-food for patient, there were number of foods left since patient whose supplied by soft-food has a serious condition than the normal food patient. The high level of water in soft food causing the high volume of food and must contained by non-stimulated seasoning. This research aimed to determine the correlation between the taste of soft-food for patient in Berkah Hospital Pandeglang, especially for patient at level 3 facility. This research took a sample of level 3 patients, because this class has the largest bed capacity is in the hospital. This study is descriptive analytic, with cross sectional design, and the sample amounted to 70 people. Interview conducted by questionnaire then the direct weighing process for soft-food leftover held for 2 days. Analysis process used the chi square test. The result of bivariate analysis with chi square test was obtained by the taste of breakfast menu (p Value = 0,017), lunch (p Value = 0,008) and dinner (p Value = 0,009). The results showed there was a relationship between the taste and the soft-food leftover for breakfast (p <0.05), afternoon (p <0.05), and night (p <0.05). It recommended to held an periodically evaluation for the menu (in 6 months), especially on the taste of food aspect, especially if the food remains more and more. Abstract

According to the National Household Health Survey (SKRTN), heart disease is the greatest causes of mortality (about 26.4%). In Bengkulu, out of ten, cardiovascular disease is the second most prevalence disease. We aimed to examine the association of dietary fiber and fat intake and physical activity with Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL) level among coronary heart diseases (CHDs)’s patient. The study was Cross-sectional study design. Samples were 52 which taken from total sampling method. Intake nutrients were collected using 24 hours food recall. Physical activity measured physical activity level questionnaire. LDL levels in CHDs’s patient were obtained from medical records. Results showed that two variables significantly associated with LDL levels in CHDs’s patient, namely fat intake (p value =0,008) and physical activity (p value = 0,019) while fiber intake was not significantly associated with LDL levels in CHDs’s patient (p value = 0,194). Fat intake in accordance with individual needs accompanied by good physical activity can affect the value of LDL level among CHDs’s patient. Abstract

Achievements of Indonesian athlete are likely to experience ups and downs even lately tend to decline in the international championship such as SEA Games and ASIAN Games. The achievements of athletes are influenced by several factors one of those is related to nutrition namely water. Inadequate fluid consumption may affect fatigue, hydration status, and performance of athletes. The objective of this study is to analyze different between drinking habits, consumption of fluids, physical activity and level of hydration in athletes of softball in KONI Banten 2016. The study uses a quantitative research design with cross sectional study design. The population in this study were all athletes softball in KONI Banten. Analysis of the data in this study using Chi Square and One Way Anova. This technique is used to measure the drinking habits, consumption of fluids, and level of hydration athletes of softball in KONI Banten 2016. The results of statistical analysis Chi Square test between drinking habits and hydration significant, One Way Anova test between fluid consumptions and hydration significant. The statistical result showed a drinking habits, the consumption of fluids, and the allowance affect level of hydration. Abstract

Coronary Heart Disease (CVD) is the manifestation of atherosclerosis which is formed of foam cells formation. Beside of medicine, the alternative way to prevent CVD is by high soluble fiber food consumption such as persimmon fruit (Diospyros kaki var. Junggo). The aim of this experiment was to understand the effect of persimmon fruit toward the foam cells formation in the intima aorta layer of rat (Rattus novergicus strain wistar) with atherogenic diet. The experiment was conducted by using experimental laboratoric in vivo with True Experimental Design (Post Test-Only Control Group Design) about 12 weeks, using 5 male rats/group + 1 male rat for spare in each group, the age about 56120 days, and the weight about 100-200 g. The experimental rats were divided into 5 groups, i.e P0 (30.6 g normal diet), P1 (22.9 g atherogenic diet), P2 (22.4 g atherogenic diet + 1.2 g persimmon flour), P3 (21,9 g atherogenic diet + 2.4 g persimmon flour), and P4 (21.4 g atherogenic diet + 3,6 g persimmon flour). Calculation of foam cells was carried out using light microscop with 400x magnification in the area of intima aorta layer of rat. The experiment proved that persimmon flour intervention orally could reduce foam cells formation in the intima aorta layer of white rat with atherogenic diet.  Keywords: atherogenic diet, persimmon, soluble fiber, foam cells

Abstract

Nutritional problems is one of major public health problem which indirectly may elevate the risk for maternal and child mortality. The problem is preventable, and one of the risk factors is maternal eating behavior. The role of health professionals to provide nutritional counseling and monitor the pregnant women’s nutritional status is necessary for pregnant women in order that they want to behave and act to follow norms of nutrition and prevent complications as early as possible. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the eating behavior of pregnant women and maternal nutritional status. The study design was cross-sectional, the sample was 42 pregnant women which selected by simple random sampling. The independent variable is the eating behavior which comprised from knowledge, and action while dependent variable is the maternal nutritional status based on body mass index. Chi square was performed to test the association with significance level of p  0.05. The results showed significant relationship between nutrition knowledge (p = 0.014), nutrition actions (p = 0.014) and maternal nutritional status, respectively. It is important to promote nutrition education among pregnant women to improve their nutritional status which in long term prevent maternal and infant mortality. Keywords: maternal behavior, nutrition education, nutritional status
