Abstract

IAIN Kudus, as one of the State Islamic Higher Education Institutions (PTKN) in Indonesia, plays a significant role in the advancement of science and Islamic studies. In performing its duties and functions, IAIN Kudus comprises various units, centers, faculties, and institutions. By strengthening the Central File Function and the Record Center II Function through the role of Contract-Based Archivists (P3K), the institution can improve operational efficiency, reduce the risk of losing essential information, and ensure compliance with archival management regulations. This study aims to explore the strategic role of P3K Archivists as information and document managers, enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of institutional archival governance. Using a descriptive qualitative method, this study focuses on the Central File and Record Center II Functions as stipulated in Rector’s Regulation, along with archival human resources at IAIN Kudus. Data collection was conducted through observation and literature review of relevant journal articles. The results demonstrate that the role of P3K Archivists in supporting the Central File Function and Record Center II Function at IAIN Kudus can be optimized to strengthen institutional archival governance.

Abstract

This study explores the phenomenon of public-driven promotion through the hashtag #NontonJumboLagi, which emerged organically on Twitter/X and played a pivotal role in boosting the Indonesian animated film Jumbo to the top of the national box office. The research aimed to examine how audiences functioned as informal promoters by generating digital discourse that mobilized collective action, emotional attachment, humor, competition, and offline practices. Using a qualitative approach and digital discourse analysis, data were collected from purposively sampled posts that explicitly used the hashtag and represented key categories such as calls to rewatch, expressions of affection, competitive narratives, humor, and community practices. A total of 42 posts were analyzed through open thematic coding, complemented by informal pre-research interviews with active users. The findings reveal that audiences repurposed social media content into organic promotional messages that extended beyond individual expression to collective identity, nostalgia, and cultural pride. These practices formed a participatory and affective word-of-mouth ecosystem that bridged online and offline activities. The study concludes that participatory marketing of popular culture represents a shift in promotional dynamics, where audiences themselves become cultural marketers, redefining how films gain visibility and legitimacy in the digital era.

Abstract

This study explores how Indonesian Instagram users construct and negotiate their digital identities through the use of two accounts commonly known as the first account and the second account. Using Kenneth Burke's dramatism and Marshall McLuhan's media ecology as theoretical frameworks, the study investigates the symbolic and environmental dimensions of online self-presentation. The study adopts a qualitative approach combining content analysis and semi-structured interviews with five active Instagram users who maintain public and private accounts. The findings reveal that users perform distinct identities in these two spaces: the first account serves as a stage for curated, professional, and aesthetically controlled self-representation, while the second account serves as a more intimate and expressive arena for personal narratives and emotional disclosure among a trusted audience. Through Burke's pentadic analysis, these practices are understood as symbolic acts shaped by social expectations and platform affordances. From a media ecology perspective, Instagram's visual and interactive architecture reinforces distinct modes of communication that shape users' identity performances. This study contributes to broader discussions on digital identity and self-presentation by demonstrating how technological environments mediate symbolic expression and the negotiation of privacy in everyday social media practices. This study also highlights the growing importance of multiple account culture as a coping mechanism for navigating authenticity, visibility, and social pressures in digital society.

Abstract

The gap between the amount of waste input and waste management capacity in a region raises the risk of pollution and impacts public health. The circular economy concept is one of the main strategies in sustainable waste management. This study aims to evaluate and explore waste management actions that have been implemented in the Sumedang region, especially in the Jatinangor area. The study aims to obtain a conceptual model related to communication efforts in waste management that prioritizes sustainable principles while considering the social characteristics of the community in a region or area. This study uses a mixed methods design with a qualitative approach complemented by a quantitative approach within a participatory case study framework. The results of this study indicate that changes in community behavior in waste management can be analyzed by three main factors : attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control which are reinforced by perceptions of risks and benefits. Regional social factors such as trust between residents, the influence of local figures, and informal communication shape collective norms through the process of constructing everyday social reality, which ultimately encourages the growth of a circular economy based on participation and adaptive partnerships at the village level. The resulting communication model in waste management demonstrates that waste management at the village level is not merely a technical process, but a social process formed through the construction of meaning, risk perception, and interactions between actors in a regional context. The novelty of this model lies in its holistic and transdisciplinary approach, which combines the dimensions of individual behavior, social networks, and social realities that are continuously negotiated in daily practice.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the form and meaning of the acculturation of Western and local occult symbols in the Indonesian horror film Pengabdi Setan 2: Communion. As national cinema evolves, the horror genre has transformed from merely exploiting local myths to complex narratives integrating global occult elements. This research employs a qualitative method with Roland Barthes semiotic approach to dissect the layers of denotative, connotative, and mythical meanings in the film's scenes, characters, and properties. The analysis results indicate strong symbolic hybridization, where Western occult artifacts such as the Ouroboros and Satanic Cross are recontextualized alongside local entities like pocong and pesugihan practices. Main findings reveal that these symbols are not merely visual elements but function to build a new myth about the universality of terror. The talisman symbol shifts function into a communication medium, while local ghost figures are placed within an international cult ritual structure. In conclusion, this film represents a cultural acculturation that successfully creates a relevant horror atmosphere, asserting that occult practices in modern cinema serve as a cultural communication bridge binding its adherents in an endless cycle of sacrifice, while reflecting the adaptive dynamics of Indonesian societal beliefs toward external influences.
