Abstract

Floating Solar Power Plants (FSPP) are a potential renewable energy solution, but their power output is highly influenced by fluctuating solar intensity. This research aims to analyze the optimization of power output in a floating solar power plant with the addition of mirror reflectors. The research method used is experimental, comparing the performance of series-connected solar panels, both without reflectors and with the addition of reflectors at various angles of 30°, 45°, and 60°. Data was collected over four days from 09:00 to 15:00 WIB, including measurements of light intensity, current, and voltage. The results show that the use of mirror reflectors significantly increases power output. The 60° reflector angle yielded the most optimal performance, with the highest light intensity reaching 1210 W/m², a current of 3.90 A, a voltage of 14.22 V, and an input power (Pin) of 349.20 Watts. Although the highest peak output power (Pout) was recorded at the 45° angle (51.76 Watts), the highest average Pout (29.76 Watts) and the highest peak efficiency (23.39%) were achieved with the 60° angle. It is concluded that the addition of a mirror reflector at a 60° angle is the most effective method for optimizing power harvesting in floating solar power plants.

Abstract

The persistent reliance on firewood as a primary source of household energy remains a pressing issue in many rural communities of Nigeria. Despite the availability of modern cooking alternatives, such as liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and kerosene, a significant proportion of households continue to depend heavily on firewood due to affordability, accessibility, and cultural preferences. This dependence contributes not only to environmental challenges such as deforestation, biodiversity loss, and land degradation but also to health risks from indoor air pollution, which disproportionately affect women and children. This study adopted a mixed-method design, integrating qualitative and quantitative approaches to enhance validity and reliability. Data collection involved focus group discussions, key informant interviews, and household surveys across six rural communities in Awka North LGA, Anambra State. A sample size of 400 was derived using Taro Yamane’s formula. The study area, characterized by tropical savanna climate, fertile plains, diverse relief, and rich vegetation, supports farming and small-scale industries. Instruments were validated by experts and reliability confirmed using Cronbach’s Alpha. Data were analyzed with SPSS v20, employing Principal Component Analysis, ANOVA, and Kruskal-Wallis tests to explore firewood usage and its impacts. The study identified ten factors influencing firewood use in Awka North LGA, including socioeconomic status, household size, cultural practices, education, climate, and geographic location. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) reduced these into three major components explaining 91.25% of the variance. Component I (60.17%) highlighted socioeconomic conditions, education, climate, and household size as the strongest determinants. Component II reflected cultural practices, while Component III captured environmental awareness and geographic accessibility. Regression analysis confirmed that socioeconomic status, household size, and cultural practices significantly predicted firewood usage, with R² of 0.975. This demonstrates that firewood dependence is shaped by interconnected social, economic, and environmental factors. The study concludes that firewood dependence in the area is shaped by a complex interplay of economic, social, and environmental dimensions.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of training and work discipline on employee performance through incentives as an intervening variable among the Human Resources (HR) staff at Dr. Saiful Anwar Regional Public Hospital, East Java Province. The background of the research highlights the challenges in public health institutions where training often becomes a formality and work discipline issues such as absenteeism and procedural violations remain prevalent. A quantitative research method was applied, involving 165 HR employees as respondents. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using path analysis. The results show that both training and work discipline have a direct positive and significant effect on employee performance. Furthermore, incentives play a mediating role, strengthening the influence of training and discipline on performance. These findings suggest that effective training, strong work discipline, and fair incentive systems create a synergistic impact in enhancing employee performance. This study provides managerial insights for hospital management to optimize human resource strategies in order to improve service quality and operational efficiency.

Abstract

Legal remedies are measures provided by law to individuals or legal entities for specific purposes to challenge a court ruling as a means for parties dissatisfied with a court ruling deemed inconsistent with their wishes, failing to meet the standards of justice, as judges are also human beings who may make errors or omissions, thereby rendering an incorrect decision or favouring one party over another. Decisions of the Constitutional Court have a special characteristic, namely they are final and binding and apply in accordance with the principle of erga omnes, meaning they cannot be subject to any further legal action. Until now, if there are decisions of the Constitutional Court ( ) that are deemed to violate regulations, the maximum action taken is to conduct an Ethics Code Review of the Constitutional Court Justices by the Constitutional Court's Ethics Council. However, even if the Constitutional Court Justices are found to have violated the Ethics Code, their decisions remain valid and must be enforced, leading to controversy and public unrest. Therefore, it is time for the Constitutional Court to establish a legal remedy institution called the Objection Institution. In this regard, a solution to establish this Objection Institution can be pursued by adopting or using the rules applied in the examination of Simple Lawsuits in District Courts as a comparison. This study employs a normative legal research method, as the research objective is the law or legal principles, specifically the rules governing Simple Lawsuits, as a basis for comparison regarding the establishment of a Legal Remedies Institution at the Constitutional Court. The analytical method used is qualitative, employing authentic, grammatical, and systematic interpretations.
