Abstract

Early literacy is a crucial foundation for children's academic success and holistic development. School libraries play a strategic role in fostering a culture of literacy, but their utilization in early childhood education institutions is often suboptimal. This article aims to analyze the role of school libraries in building a culture of literacy from an early age, by referring to the practices and challenges faced at PAUD-TK Nurul Chotib Al-Qodiri IV, Jombang, Jember. The discussion is conducted by synthesizing findings from three main studies: library utilization for bibliotherapy, the influence of interactive flashcards on early reading skills, and an analysis of departmental library management. The method used is a literature review with a qualitative-descriptive approach. The results of the discussion indicate that the role of libraries is not limited to passive reading spaces, but can be expanded to become bibliotherapy centers for social-emotional development, early literacy laboratories based on interactive media (such as digital flashcards), and professionally managed learning resource centers. The main obstacles include limited collections, human resources for management, infrastructure, and promotion. In conclusion, optimizing the role of the library at PAUD-TK Nurul Chotib Al-Qodiri IV requires a management transformation from merely storing books to an active, integrated, and enjoyable literacy ecosystem.

Abstract

A disability friendly library is one tangible manifestation of inclusive education implemented at the National Library of Indonesia. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through literature review and documentation. The findings indicate that the National Library of Indonesia has provided various facilities and services that support accessibility for persons with disabilities, including ramps, elevators, guiding blocks, accessible restrooms, Braille collections, audiobooks, and assistive technologies. These facilities create equal opportunities for students and people with disabilities to access information, learn independently, and actively participate in library activities. National Library Regulation Number 3 of 2023 concerning Social Inclusion-Based Library Transformation further reinforces the National Library's role as a reference for other libraries in Indonesia. This role is realized through staff training, the development of inclusive service standards, and the creation of learning spaces that are responsive to the needs of vulnerable groups, including persons with disabilities and older adults

Abstract

Libraries in the digital era are required to adapt to technological developments and societal interaction patterns. Social media, particularly Instagram and TikTok, have become strategic tools to promote library services and collections. This study analyzes the promotional strategies implemented by M. Tabrani Library through these two platforms to increase reading interest and visitor participation. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, this study employs data triangulation through interviews, social media content analysis, and observation via social media accounts. The research results indicate that visually and interactively based promotional strategies on Instagram, as well as creative video-based strategies on TikTok, significantly attract audience attention, increase digital engagement, and impact the increase in library visit interest. Collaboration with various school institutions and trend-based content are key factors for success. This research is expected to strengthen the information service innovation model and become a practical reference for similar institutions in building a positive image and increasing local community literacy.

Abstract

The importance of reading interest for students is to increase their insight. Schools provide a place for information and book collections called libraries. Libraries are managed by librarians, where librarians not only act as book lending officers. However, librarians also play a role in increasing students' interest in reading at school. The purpose of this study is to determine the role of human resources in library management to increase students' reading interest. This study uses a library research method with a descriptive qualitative approach. The results of the study show that (1) Human resources (HR) are the most important component of the library system because they determine the progress and decline of the library in carrying out its assigned functions and roles. Because HR is the main key, the quality of library HR management depends on how well they manage these human resources.; (2) Libraries play a very important role in building students' interest in reading and literacy. To achieve this, libraries provide access to books and other written resources. One of the main roles of libraries as sources of information is to encourage increased interest in reading.; (3) The role of a librarian is someone who has been appointed and given responsibility and has the ability and skills to manage a library so that they can carry out tasks related to the library. In addition, librarians play an important role in realizing an ideal library to increase students' interest in reading.

Abstract

One of the important steps in responding to the development of information technology in the digital era is the transformation of school libraries. This study aims to examine the role of transforming school libraries in Madura in supporting students’ digital literacy. A literature review was conducted using a descriptive qualitative approach. The results indicate that digital libraries provide easier, more flexible, and more interactive access to information for students. In addition, digital libraries contribute to enhancing students’ critical, analytical, and creative thinking skills. However, in Madura, the implementation still faces several challenges, such as limited infrastructure, lack of human resources, and the digital divide. Therefore, to optimize the role of libraries as centers of digital literacy, innovative and locally grounded management strategies are required.

Abstract

The school library is one of the vital components in supporting a quality education process. This study aims to evaluate the library management system at Madrasah Aliyah (MA) Matsaratul Huda Panempan, with a focus on aspects of planning, organizing, implementation, supervision, as well as supporting and inhibiting factors that affect the effectiveness of library management. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Research informants consist of the school principal, head of the library, librarian, teachers, and students. The results of the study show that the library management system at MA Matsaratul Huda Panempan has been running quite well, especially in terms of work program planning and organizing library collections. However, there are several significant challenges faced, including limited human resources, minimal operational budget, suboptimal information technology infrastructure, and low student reading interest. This study recommends the need to enhance the capacity of librarians through continuous training, optimize the use of digital library information systems such as SLiMS, increase budget allocation, and develop more creative and innovative literacy programs to boost students' reading interest. The findings of this study are expected to serve as a reference for the development of library management in other madrasahs.

Abstract

Pancasila education plays a crucial role in shaping students' character, particularly in understanding rights and obligations in everyday life. However, conventional learning processes result in students being less active and experiencing difficulty understanding the material. This study aims to improve third-grade students' understanding of rights and obligations through the UTAHAWA (Snakes and Ladders of Rights and Obligations) learning media. The study used the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method, implemented in two cycles with planning, action, observation, and reflection. The study subjects consisted of 16 third-grade students at Jubellor Sugio Elementary School, Lamongan. Data collection techniques in this study included tests, observation, and documentation. The research findings indicate that the implementation of the UTAHAWA media has a positive impact on improving student learning outcomes. This is evident in the increase in students' average scores, from 48.6% in the pre-test to 66.6% in Cycle I, and again to 86% in Cycle II. Furthermore, students' learning completion rate also significantly increased to 94%. The use of educational games has been shown to create a more active, engaging, and enjoyable learning environment, making it easier for students to understand the concept of rights and obligations.
