Abstract

Effective education planning requires a data-driven approach, particularly in responding to the growth dynamics of the primary-school-age population. This research aims to analyze the need for elementary schools in the city of Surabaya based on projections of the population aged 7–12 years with a social demand approach. The research used a qualitative descriptive method using quantitative calculation techniques using the Sprague Multiplier method, which functions to convert five-yearly age group data into single age data for estimating the primary school age population. Based on projection results, the number of children aged 7–12 years in the city of Surabaya reached 265,003 people. School needs analysis is carried out by referring to two standards, namely the National Education Standard (SNP) and the Minimum Service Standard (SPM). The results show that 1,577 primary schools are needed if using SNP (28 students per class) and 1,380 schools if using SPM (32 students per class). The findings emphasize the need for adaptive and planned education policies, taking into account standard student-to-class ratios, demographic distribution, as well as the availability of educational infrastructure. It is hoped that this projection-based planning can become the basis for preparing a more responsive and sustainable basic education policy in the city of Surabaya.

Abstract

This study aims to describe in detail the application of the Snowball Throwing learning model by researchers directly in improving learning outcomes and learning interests of students at SDN Pasirkuntul. This learning model was chosen because it has active, fun characteristics, and encourages direct student involvement in the learning process. Snowball Throwing provides space for students to be actively involved in conveying and receiving information dynamically through throwing "snowballs" containing questions and answers that they create themselves. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach, where researchers play a direct role as teachers who design, implement, and reflect on the learning process by applying the model. The subjects of the study were approximately 30 grade VI students. Data collection techniques include participatory observation, field notes, teaching reflections, and documentation of student learning outcomes obtained during the learning process. The results of the study indicate that the direct application of the Snowball Throwing model can increase student activity in learning activities in the classroom. In addition, there was an increase in enthusiasm, enthusiasm, and interest in learning for students as seen from their active involvement in discussions, answering questions, and group collaboration. The application of this model also creates a more lively and communicative learning atmosphere. Thus, Snowball Throwing can be an alternative effective, innovative, and fun learning strategy to improve students' learning outcomes and interests at elementary school level, especially in presenting student-centered learning.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika (Unity in Diversity) values in Civic Education (PKn) learning at SD Negeri 001 Sangatta Utara. These values serve as a fundamental basis for shaping students' character, especially in appreciating differences and maintaining unity. The study employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that Bhinneka Tunggal Ika values are integrated into learning through teaching materials, discussion activities, and collaborative projects. Additionally, teachers play an active role in instilling attitudes of tolerance, cooperation, and respect for diversity. However, several challenges remain, such as limited supporting learning media and a lack of parental involvement in reinforcing these values at home. This study recommends the development of diversity-based learning media and enhanced collaboration between schools and parents to effectively implement Bhinneka Tunggal Ika values.

Abstract

The focus of the evaluation of learning methods is on assessing the effectiveness of the learning strategies or techniques applied by teachers in delivering learning materials, and is also used to analyze the impact on the empowerment of elementary school students. This study aims to analyze how the learning methods applied by teachers can influence students’ activeness, motivation, discipline, self-confidence, contribution and participation, and cooperation in groups during the learning process. The learning methods applied must be adapted to the diverse needs of students. Therefore, an evaluation of learning methods aims to determine which methods are appropriate and equivalent, comprehensive, and sustainable. This study uses a literature review method by collecting data from books, journals, and other scientific works related to the discussion theme. The research analysis shows that the application of learning methods such as Synergetics, Exemplary, Think-Pair-Share, Collaborative Learning, Inquiry, and Participatory Learning has a positive impact on the development of knowledge, skills improvement, communication, and student cooperation. This research can be used by teachers as a guide in determining and implementing learning methods that are appropriate to student needs in order to strengthen student empowerment to become more responsible, independent, critical, and positive individuals in school.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze how deep learning policies can play a role in building basic mathematical foundations in elementary school students, particularly those in grades 4–6. The background of this study is based on the low numeracy skills of Indonesian students as shown by the results of PISA 2022 and the National Assessment. To address this issue, this study uses the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method by reviewing scientific articles published between 2020 and 2025 from various academic sources such as Google Scholar and Scopus. The results of the study show that the implementation of deep learning at the elementary school level is effective in improving conceptual understanding, critical thinking skills, and motivation to learn mathematics. Approximately 60% of the studies highlighted the role of teachers as facilitators of reflective learning, 25% emphasized the use of technology and learning analytics, and 15% discussed institutional policies and adaptive curriculum support. The application of the principles of meaningful, mindful, and joyful learning has been proven to create meaningful and sustainable learning experiences. These findings confirm that the synergy between educational policy, pedagogical practices, and technological support is key to strengthening students' basic mathematical foundations. Furthermore, deep learning policies are in line with the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the direction of the Merdeka Belajar Curriculum, which is oriented towards 21st-century competencies. Thus, deep learning can be a transformative strategy in building an adaptive, inclusive, and sustainable basic education ecosystem.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) as an innovative approach centered on real-world projects, in line with the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5) under the Merdeka Curriculum, to improve students' independence, creativity, problem-solving skills, and internalize Pancasila values such as mutual cooperation, creativity, and environmental responsibility through project examples such as "School Environmental Cleanliness Movement" and "Changing Waste into Valuable Items"; the research method is descriptive-analytical with systematic stages including pre-project planning, observation, prototype development, evaluation and revision, completion and launch, and post-project assessment, emphasizing student autonomy, full responsibility, multi-stakeholder engagement, creative thinking, and a tolerant classroom atmosphere; research results indicate that PjBL creates a holistic learning environment with advantages such as fostering critical thinking, skill development, active participation, teaching flexibility, and collaborative capabilities, despite facing challenges such as high costs, long timeframes, substantial equipment requirements, student inactivity within groups, and uneven topic mastery. It is hoped that it will foster a generation of intelligent, principled, and globally ready students through meaningful and engaging education.

Abstract

This study explores the experiences of elementary school teachers in integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a digital learning medium. The research aims to identify teachers’ perceptions, challenges, and strategies in adopting AI-based tools to enhance the teaching and learning process. Using a qualitative descriptive approach with semi-structured interviews, data were collected from selected elementary school teachers who had experience utilizing AI applications in their classrooms. The findings indicate that while teachers recognize the potential of AI in providing interactive and personalized learning experiences, they also encounter barriers such as limited digital literacy, inadequate infrastructure, and lack of training. Nevertheless, teachers demonstrate adaptability by experimenting with AI-supported resources to foster student engagement and independent learning. The study concludes that successful integration of AI in elementary education requires not only teacher readiness and innovation but also institutional support through training, facilities, and curriculum alignment. These insights contribute to a better understanding of how AI can be effectively embedded in elementary education
