Abstract

The education system in Indonesia places a larger allocation of teaching than the allocation of education. So that educational activities are more emphasized on the process of improving abilities, skills, and intelligence alone. Meanwhile, the formation of superior, cultured, and quality characteristics has not been fully concentrated in a fundamental way. This situation has resulted in the emergence of various educational problems that are not properly addressed. So it is worrying that it will affect various efforts to improve the quality of education. The causes of the low quality of education in Indonesia in general include the issue of effectiveness, efficiency, and standardization of teaching. The Independent Curriculum is one of the government's initiatives in improving the quality of education by giving schools the freedom to design ideas, models, and learning assessments in accordance with the characteristics of the local environment, culture, and issues around the school environment.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Inquiry-Based Learning (IBL) model in improving elementary school students' learning outcomes and scientific literacy. Using a literature review and meta-analysis approach, this study reviewed journal articles published between 2018 and 2025 that implemented the IBL model, focused on elementary school students, and discussed learning outcomes and scientific literacy. Six studies met the inclusion criteria. The results showed that IBL effectively improved students' learning outcomes and scientific literacy, with an average increase of 19.73%. The highest increase was 30.00%, and the lowest was 7.9%. These findings indicate that IBL encourages students to think critically and analytically, actively engage in learning, and construct knowledge through direct experience. Overall, IBL is an effective and relevant model to support scientific literacy and learning outcomes in 21st-century education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Game Based Learning (GBL) model in enhancing students’ mathematical creative thinking skills through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. A total of 100 articles were identified from Google Scholar and Publish or Perish, then screened through the stages of identification, screening, eligibility, and inclusion using the PRISMA guidelines. From this process, 15 articles met the eligibility criteria and were analyzed in depth. The review findings indicate that the GBL model consistently provides positive outcomes in improving students’ mathematical creative thinking abilities. Various game-based media—such as Wordwall, quiz games, board games, digital games, and Construct 2–PhET Simulation-based applications—were proven effective in encouraging students to generate flexible and original ideas, enhance problem-solving skills, and strengthen conceptual understanding in mathematics. Beyond the cognitive domain, GBL also influences the affective and psychomotor domains by improving motivation, learning engagement, and students’ motor coordination. However, the effectiveness of GBL depends on the quality of game design, alignment with the curriculum, availability of technological facilities, and teachers’ competence in managing the learning process. Overall, this study concludes that GBL is an innovative instructional model that effectively supports the development of students’ mathematical creative thinking skills. With sufficient media resources, technological support, and well-prepared teachers, GBL holds strong potential to be optimized as a learning strategy across various educational levels.

Abstract

Learning interest is a critical factor in elementary education, yet it remains low in many classrooms due to conventional teaching methods. This study investigates the implementation of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model to enhance the learning interest of lower-grade students at SD Negeri Kuta Cisaat Sukabumi. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with three class teachers, participatory classroom observations, and document analysis of lesson plans and student work. The findings indicate that teachers have begun implementing CTL through strategies like simulations and the use of concrete media, which has successfully increased student interest, evidenced by heightened enthusiasm, attention, and curiosity. However, the implementation faces multidimensional constraints, including limited teacher conceptual understanding, insufficient training, lack of teaching resources, and the absence of systematic school policy support. The study concludes that optimizing CTL requires a holistic, systemic approach. Sustainable improvement in student interest depends not only on developing individual teacher competencies but also on building a supportive school ecosystem with clear policies, adequate resource allocation, and a collaborative culture that fosters pedagogical innovation.

Abstract

The quality of education in Indonesia still faces various challenges, particularly related to teacher professionalism and the effectiveness of the learning process. The gap in teacher competency in integrating technology, implementing innovative methods, and conducting critical reflection demonstrates the need for a focused and sustainable development system. Educational supervision is a strategic instrument for improving learning quality through mentoring, evaluation, and professional development. This study aims to examine the sources of principals' authority in implementing supervision, the use of this authority, and the problems that arise in supervision practices in schools. Using qualitative methods through a literature review, this research synthesizes various theoretical concepts, empirical findings, and regulations related to educational supervision. The results indicate that principals' supervisory authority is legal-rational, derived from laws, implementing regulations, education policies, and employment contracts. Principals utilize this authority to carry out managerial functions, provide academic guidance, and conduct systematic learning evaluations. However, the implementation of supervision still faces obstacles such as time constraints, administrative burdens, lack of training, and an unsupportive work culture. This research confirms that strengthening regulations, improving principal competency, and implementing collaboration- and reflection-based supervision are crucial steps to optimize the quality of educational supervision in schools.

Abstract

Islamic education is an educational system oriented toward the holistic development of human beings through the integration of spiritual, intellectual, moral, and social values. This article aims to comprehensively examine the theories and concepts of Islamic education by analyzing its definitions, objectives, and scope based on classical sources, contemporary scholarly perspectives, and findings from previous studies. This study employs a library research approach by examining the Qur’an, Hadith, classical scholarly works, academic books, and relevant national and international journal articles. The findings indicate that Islamic education functions not merely as a process of transmitting religious knowledge, but also as a medium for moral formation, intellectual development, and the strengthening of learners’ social responsibility. The concepts of tarbiyah, ta‘lim, and ta’dib serve as the foundational framework in constructing a holistic and adaptive model of Islamic education. Furthermore, this study highlights that Islamic education remains highly relevant in responding to modern challenges such as globalization and digital transformation, provided that it consistently upholds its normative Islamic values. Therefore, Islamic education needs to be developed through an integrative and contextual approach in order to produce generations who are faithful, knowledgeable, morally upright, and capable of actively participating in contemporary society.
