Abstract

The increasing amount of waste has become a serious problem in Indonesia due to the habit of littering and the government's suboptimal handling of the issue. At SD Negeri Mandiri Jaya, the lack of facilities and a culture of waste sorting remains a challenge. Therefore, the School Loves the Environment programme was implemented, which included socialisation, the provision of separate waste bins, and educational boards to encourage students to maintain cleanliness and care for the environment. The objectives of this study were to improve the understanding of students at SD Negeri Mandiri Jaya about the types, sources, and impacts of waste, equip them with recycling skills, and provide supporting facilities such as separate waste bins and educational boards to foster a culture of environmental awareness from an early age. The research method used was educational socialisation and waste recycling activities through a participatory approach. The results of the study show that educational socialisation and waste recycling activities at SD Negeri Mandiri Jaya are strategic steps in fostering environmental awareness from an early age. Through the delivery of material, recycling practices, the provision of separate waste bins, and the installation of educational boards, students not only understand the importance of waste management but also become accustomed to practising it. This programme has a positive impact on school cleanliness, shapes environmentally conscious character, and supports the government's programme in education- and community-based waste management.

The activity is carried out in several stages, namely socialization about the importance of cleanliness, practicing recycling waste, and installing educational posters in the classroom area. The results of the activity show a high enthusiasm from the students and a change in behavior, such as starting to throw trash in its place and participating in keeping the classroom clean. This activity emphasizes the importance of early education on cleanliness by involving students as agents of change in the school and home environment.

Abstract

Globalization of food has shifted consumer preferences toward practical, nutritious snacks with storytelling value. However, local village potentials are often marketed only as low-value raw materials. Ekajaya Village, Pantar Tengah District, Alor Regency, has main commodities such as cashew nuts, corn, and papaya that have not been optimally processed. This community service program aimed to increase the added value of local products through food processing training. The implementation included identifying village potentials and training 10 local youths to produce crispy cashews, corn chips, and papaya chips. The results show that participants were able to produce innovative snacks with good taste, simple techniques, and longer shelf life. Their enthusiasm confirmed the successful transfer of knowledge and skills. This program is expected to become an initial step in transforming local products into modern snacks with higher economic value while opening wider market opportunities at the national level.

Abstract

The fish smoking business in Purnama Village has considerable potential for continued growth. Smoked fish processing is carried out traditionally by the local community, using Kusambi wood charcoal. Meanwhile, packaging is still done simply using plastic bags, so the fish produced cannot last long, resulting in local communities not being able to market outside the region or widely, but still limited to local marketing and to meet daily needs. Based on these constraints, it is very important to conduct training on packaging and global marketing methods through community service activities in Increasing Smoked Fish Production through training on storing and packaging Smoked Fish Processing so that it does not spoil quickly and can last longer. This community service activity is carried out through Community Learning and Assistance Activities (KBPM) conducted by Tribuana Kalabahi University to provide knowledge on packaging smoked fish to make it attractive, long-lasting or not easily damaged so that it can be marketed globally. The target output of this community service activity is publication in a national journal with ISSN. The training methods in this activity are team formation, formulation of objectives, identification of target communities, collection and analysis of needs, and determination of priority solutions to problems. The activity is planned in two stages for two days. The first stage is the smoking process, and the second stage is an introduction to vacuum equipment and training in vacuum-packaging fish. This activity aims to improve the community's knowledge and skills in the smoked fish business, equip them with the skills to use vacuum equipment, and effectively package fish, thereby increasing product value. Smoked fish entrepreneurs can also increase their competitiveness in the market, which can then be used as a source of income.

Abstract

The KBPM Desa student work programme identifies the local food potential of Bana Village to be managed into food products with economic value. The main objective of this programme is to improve the community's skills in processing and packaging products, as well as opening up wider marketing access through digitalisation. Through training, discussions, and collaborative work, the community is encouraged to be more confident in developing the village's flagship product, namely seaweed crackers. Through the training and production process, participants gained skills in the production process and processing of seaweed into crackers, and showed high motivation to develop small businesses based on local potential. From a production perspective, participants were able to understand and carry out the process of processing seaweed into crackers that are ready for consumption. From a marketing perspective, participants began to realise the importance of promotional strategies, attractive packaging design, and the use of social media to expand market reach. Thus, this activity succeeded in increasing the understanding and entrepreneurial skills of the community and students, and proved that local resources (local potential) such as seaweed can be the basis for more valuable and useful food product innovations. This demonstrates that entrepreneurship education focused on local potential not only supports family economic growth but also contributes to the development of flagship products in Alor District.

Abstract

This study discusses the transformation of the potential of superior products in Tulleng Village, Lembur District, Alor Regency, which until now have not been optimally utilized as a source of economic improvement for the community. The purpose of this community service journal is to identify the village's superior potential, analyze the obstacles faced, and formulate development strategies that can support community welfare. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the observation indicate that Tulleng Village has several potential superior products, including rice fields, corn, sweet potatoes (cassava), bananas, porang, and forest wood. This potential has added economic value if managed professionally and sustainably. However, there are still obstacles such as a lack of community understanding of business management, low product processing skills, and a lack of innovation. Development efforts can be carried out through increasing human resource capacity, empowering business groups, product innovation, and government support in terms of access to capital and marketing. By implementing these strategies, Tulleng Village's superior products have the potential to be developed into commodities that not only have local value but are also able to compete in the global market.
