Abstract

        As University graduates must be able to speak English well. So they are ready when they are faced with the real life and work. So are the graduates of Bina Sarana Informatika University students, they have to gain the language competence especially speaking ability. The aim of the research was to know if the dialogue techniques are effective and appropriate for the university students. The result of the research showed that; 1). Most students got enormous advantages in improving students speaking skill as well as overcoming the speaking difficulties. The improvement covers grammar knowledge, intonation and pronunciation, vocabulary mastery, fluency and naturalness in speaking, and speaking attitude. 2). The students did not feel bored.  All students took part actively in the task. It means that students like doing the task. In other words, dialogue technique is one of many good techniques of teaching speaking. 3) During the semester students showed their positive responses to the implementation of the dialogue technique.  It can be concluded that the dialogue technique presented in the right way will bring about a good response from the students. In the implementation, the students are happy doing the activity and they are eager to practice speaking. Based on the research result and theoretical review, the writer suggested that dialogue technique is worth to be used for university students especially for conversation subject.

Abstract

This research aims to find out the students’ interest level of learning listening by using Note-Taking Strategy. This research is descriptive quantitative. The population of this research was 208 students, and the sample of it was 30 students. The finding of research is there were 11 students or 36.67% who chose Very High option, in which 19 students with the percentage of 63.33 were in the High Option. The total score of students is 2534 with the mean score of students’ interest of using Note-Taking Strategy in learning listening is 84.47. Based on the result of this research, it can be concluded that the students are interested in learning listening through Note-Taking Strategy, in the other words, the students are in the high level of interest.

Abstract

Technological developments are also growing rapidly. Its development is almost sectoral, economic, political, and educational have implemented technology. One of them is the use of video. Video can be used as a solution to overcome the low ability of students to understand a concept. This study aims to determine the effect of WhatsApp groups on the ability to write narrative texts of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 17 Makassar. This study uses a quantitative type of experimental method, there are two classes, namely the experimental class using video and the control class not using video. The sample of this study was class VII students consisting of 32 students for the experimental class and 32 students for the control class. The data collection technique in this study uses pre-test and post-test to collect data by giving text to write. The results of this study indicate that the post-test experimental class has a mean value of 74.69 and the post-test control class has a mean value of 72 ,66. The results of the data analyzed using independent sample t-test, showed that Sig.(2-tailed) was 0.000 lower than 0.05 so that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected so that there was an effect of using video in teaching speaking to students after using the video. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that video media is effective in improving the speaking ability of seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 17 Makassar.

Abstract

Masalah utama penelitian ini adalah bagaimana pengaruh model pembelajara Round Club terhadap keterampilan berbicara murid kelas V SD Inpres Parang Beru Kecamatan Bungaya Kabupaten Gowa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pengarun model pembelajaran Round Club terhadap keterampilan berbicara murid kelas V SD Inpres Parang Beru Kecamatan Bungaya Kabupaten Gowa. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian  pre-experimen dalam bentuk Pre Test Posstest Design yaitu sebuah experimen yang dimana subjek pelaksanaanya penelitian ini hanya melibatkan 1 kelas sebagai kelas experiment tanpa adanya kelas pembanding  (kelas kontrol) dengan tujuan untuk mengetahu Pengaruh Model Round Club Terhadap Keterampilan Berbicara Kelas V SD Inpres Parang Beru Kabupaten Gowa sebanyak 18 orang. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan sebanyak 6 kali pertemuan. Hal ini membuktikan bahwa Metode Round Club berpengaruh terhadap keterampilan berbicara murid kelas V SD Inpres Parang Beru Kecamatan Bungaya Kabupaten Gowa. Hasil analisis statistic deskriptif penggunaan model Round Club terhadap keterampilan berbicara murid positif, keterampilan berbicara murid dengan penggunaan model Round Club menunjukkan hasil belajar yang lebih baik dari  sebelum model Roud Club diterapkan. Dari hasil analisi statistic deskriptif  dengan menggunakan rumus rumus uji t, diketahui bahwa nilai t hitung yang diperoleh adalah 306 dengan frekuensi db + 18-1 + 17, pada taraf signifikan 50% diperoleh t table =1,77 . Jadi t hitung > t table atau hipotesis nol (H0) ditolak dan hipotesis alternative (H1) diterima.

Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan untuk menganlisis pemanfaatan media pembelajaran dalam perspektif perlindungan anak di TK AL-Azhar Syifa Budi Legenda Bekasi”. Penelitian ini mengggunakan metode kualitatif. Metode pengumpulan data menggunakan Teknik wawancara, dokumentasi, dan observasi. Analisis data menggunakan reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Kebanyakan guru di Taman Kanak- Kanak di Indonesia masih mengajar secara konvensional, dengan metode ini guru cenderung kurang kreatif karena guru mengandalkan komunikasi semata tanpa mempergunakan media kreatif yang bisa menarik perhatian anak. Oleh karena itu, penggunaan media pembelajaran adalah menjadi sangat penting. Media pembelajaran memberikan kemudahan bagi guru dalam menyampaikan materi pembelajaran menjadi lebih jelas dan dapat meningkatkan motivasi dan hasil belajar peserta didik. Akan tetapi kerap kali ditemukan Taman Kanak-Kanak dengan media pembelajarannya terbatas, dan tidak terawat, cat pada media bermain mengelupas, tumpuan dan alas dari media tersebut berbahan kasar, serta penempatan antara media bermain yang satu dan yang lainnya kurang diperhatikan. Kesimpulan bahwa pemanfaatan media pembelajaran di TK Al-Azhar Syifa Budi Legenda Bekasi dalam tinjauan perlindungan anak secara keseluruhan sudah memenuhi standar perlindungan anak, baik dari aspek keamanan, keselamatan, kemudahan, dan kenyamanan dalam bermain.

Abstract

The  research  aims  to find  out English Classroom activities and assessment based on students’ need analysis and teacher’s perception. The quantitative and qualitative method were  conducted in this research to describe the students’ needs. In collecting the data, the  researchers applied interview for teacher and  questionnaire  for  the  students  as  the instrument of the research. There were one teacher and 30 students as participants in this research by conducting purposive sampling. The findings showed that researchers can use the topic that they provide to develop materials in needs analysis for the student in language teaching. In addition, assessment activity on the topic of invitation, give instructions and ask permissian was suggested to use feedback from friends. While, making a greeting card topic was suggested to use feedback from the teacher. Hence, showing the existence of a person or thing topic was suggested to use role play.

Abstract

Simultaneous interpretation is a common style of translation used in media, especially in political events. It requires training, experience, and mastery of various skills, including listening, comprehension, retrieving, reformulating, and creating accurate translations. The paper analyzes English transcripts of original texts and Arabic transcripts of interpreted texts, broadcast live on Arabic TV channels. The paper focuses on two speeches by former US President Barack Obama. The objective of utilising religious terms in most political texts is not to deliver a religious message, but rather to create a rhetorical and pragmatic plan that leaves a pleasant impression in the minds of the audience. The examples of the simultaneous interpretation of utterances with embedded messages in political discourse illustrate that implicatures, which do not convey a corresponding message to listeners of interpreted texts similar to that transmitted to recipients of original texts, may result in dissimilitude between the impact of the original message and that of the interpreted one. This incompatibility may lead to differences in audiences' attitudes.

Abstract

Pioneers of applied linguistics have spared no effort in theorizing and innovating fruitful techniques through which foreign languages should be both taught and mastered. In addition, a wave of research has been conducted to bring English language teaching inadequacy to light. It is because we are now on a threshold of a new age that mastering at least one foreign language, say English, has become an urgent need. But why English? English is the language of most manuals, the medium of instruction at many virtual or physical institutions throughout the world, of instructional programs, and of international conferences. News presentation or conference interpretation is mostly provided in English. Among other languages, English has long enjoyed an advantage. However, Arab learners of English, notably Syrians, show deficiency when communicating in English, which, in their setting, is merely a foreign language. This might be attributed to many factors related to teachers’ teaching styles, governmental curricula or courses design, lessons allotment and exams question type. This article addresses the methods employed in language teaching, the challenges of mastering English in the Syrian setting with emphasis on speaking and why many languages program fail to operate as needed. Furthermore, it recommends specific policies towards better teaching and learning practices. These recommendations, therefore, once implemented, are capable of impacting both national and international security. They may include teachers’ training program, new curricula design policies and lessons allotment where speaking is given more time for learners to practice the language. Additionally, programs for teachers should be developed to prepare them to use cutting-edge teaching strategies which take into account the different demands and styles of students. The training courses should also focus on enhancing instructors' abilities and expertise in the field of language instruction.

Abstract

Pengaruh Metode Belajar Outdoor Learning Terhadap Kemampuan Menulis Karangan Deskripsi Siswa Kelas IV SDN 135 Palae. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh metode pembelajaran outdoor learning terhadap keterampilan menulis karangan deskripsi siswa kelas IV SDN 135 Palae, ajaran 2022/2023. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen berbentuk eksperimental design menggunakan one group pretest posttest yang hanya memiliki satu kelompok subjek yang dilaksanakan tanpa adanya kelompok pembanding dan diberikan perlakuan menggunakan metode pembelajaran outdoor learning. Variabel dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari variabel bebas yaitu metode pembelajaran outdor learning dan variabel terikat yaitu kemampuan menulis karangan deskripsi  siswa kelas IV SDN 135 Palae berjumlah 13 siswa. Teknik analisis data menggunaka uji-t untuk menguji adanya pengaruh penggunaan metode pembelajaran Outdoor learning terhadap kemampuan menulis karangan deskripsi siswa. Hasil penelitian dengan analisis statik inferensial dengan menggunakan uji-t diketahui bahwa kemampuan menulis karangan deskripsi siswa meningkat, hal ini terlibat dimana t hitung lebih besar dari t tabel, sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan metode outdoor learning berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan menulis karangan deskripsi  siswa kelas IV SDN 135 Palae.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mendeskripsikan keefektifan model pembelajaran interaktif explicit instruction terhadap hasil belajar keterampilan menulis eksposisi siswa kelasV di UPT SD Negeri 16 Tamarunang Binamu Kabupaten Jeneponto. Jenis Penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen menggunakan pre-experimental designs dengan tipe one-goup pretest-posttest design yaitu sebuah eksprimen yang dalam pelaksanaannya hanya melibatkan satu kelas tanpa melibatkan kelas yang lain (kelas pembanding). Populasi dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 134 siswa. Pengambilan sampel dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik Simple Random Sampling. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas IV UPT SD Inpres 16 Binamu Kabupaten Jeneponto dengan jumlah siswa sebanyak 18 orang. Instrumen penelitian yaitu tes hasil belajar dan lembar observasi aktivitas siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data terdiri dari tes awal (pretest), treatmen (pemberian perlakuan) dan tes akhir (posttest). Teknik analisis data meliputi analisis data statistik deskriptif dan analisis data statistik inferensial. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dalam pembahasan disimpulkan bahwa UPTSD Inpres 16 Kabupaten Binamu Jeneponto Dalam pembahasan model pembelajaran interaktif dikemukakan temuan yang lebih spesifik tentang pelaksanaan pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran interaktif (explicit teaching) pada siswa kelas V di Kecamatan Binamu Jeneponto (explicit instruction). Penerapan tersebut berdampak positif terhadap hasil belajar siswa. Siswa Bahasa Indonesia UPT SD Inpres 16 Kabupaten Binamu Jeneponto mendapatkan thitung = 6,45 dan tTabel = 2,11, sehingga diperoleh tHitung>tTabel atau 6,45 >2,11.
