Abstract

This study aims to examine the traditional wedding attire of the Banjar ethnic group in South Kalimantan as a representation of local culture rich in aesthetic, philosophical, and Islamic values. There are three main types of Banjar traditional bridal wear: Bagajah Gamuling Baular Lulut, Ba’amar Galung Pancar Matahari, and Babajukun Galung, each of which carries historical significance, symbolic meaning, and has undergone stylistic developments over time. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, this research employs literature studies and documentation, grounded in cultural theory and Islamic principles. The findings reveal that while early forms of these attires were influenced by Hindu-Buddhist elements, the process of Islamization has led to modifications that align with Islamic teachings, particularly in terms of modesty and covering the body (aurat). In addition to preserving traditional elements, contemporary Banjar society has adapted these outfits to accommodate hijab- wearing brides. This study highlights the importance of preserving traditional bridal attire as a cultural heritage that harmonizes with both religious values and modern sensibilities

Abstract

The phenomenon of weakening student character in the digital era is a serious challenge in the world of education, especially in the context of technological developments and popular culture such as online games. This study aims to analyze the strategic role of Christian Religious Education teachers in responding to the decline in student character caused by online game addiction. The research method used is library research with a qualitative approach, reviewing various relevant theological, pedagogical, and psychological literature. The results of the study show that online games contribute to reduced discipline, empathy, responsibility, and self-control of students. In this context, Christian Religious Education teachers have the responsibility as educators, moral educators, and spiritual guides. Effective strategies include the integration of Christian values in the learning process, the formation of ethical digital literacy, a contextual pastoral approach, and collaboration between schools, families, and churches. With the right and faith-based strategy, Christian Religious Education teachers can act as agents of transformation that shape students' character holistically amidst the challenges of today's digital culture

Abstract

This article discusses the efforts of inculturation of Christian faith in Torajan culture, especially through the practice of traditional funeral rituals known as Rambu Solo’. Inculturation is understood as a process of encounter between the Gospel and local culture that takes place critically and dialogically, with the aim of presenting a faith that is contextual but remains faithful to the truth of the Bible. Rambu Solo’ as a death rite contains not only customary aspects, but also rich theological symbolism in the Torajan people's understanding of life, death, and respect for ancestors. Through a literature study method, this study examines the symbolic meaning of Rambu Solo’, identifies the theological challenges that arise, and explores opportunities for evangelism through the development of contextual liturgy and faith education. The results of the study indicate that the church has a strategic role in directing the inculturation process through pastoral care, culturally sensitive theological education, and open dialogue with the community. This article recommends the need for a deep understanding of local culture so that the Christian faith can be fully experienced in the lives of the people without losing its theological integrity. Healthy inculturation allows the gospel to truly be grounded, giving new meaning to cultural symbols, and strengthening the church's witness in a multicultural society like Toraja

Abstract

This article discusses the importance of integrating Christian theology and pedagogy in Christian Religious Education (PAK) as an effort to shape students' characters rooted in faith in Christ. Christian education that only emphasizes cognitive aspects without a strong theological basis will lose its transformative power. Conversely, education that is theological but does not pay attention to the pedagogical context can be dogmatic and uncommunicative. Through a literature study approach, this article examines various main theological concepts such as creation, incarnation, redemption, and eschatology as the theological foundation for PAK. In addition, it also discusses the urgency of unifying the content of faith and learning strategies to produce a relevant and meaningful educational process. The main focus is directed at the formation of Christian character as the fruit of the integration of faith and learning, as well as on the various challenges faced in the context of today's education, including the flow of secularism, cultural change, and the development of digital technology. This article proposes implementation strategies such as strengthening teacher competence, developing contextual curricula, and cross-institutional collaboration (schools, churches, and families) to strengthen the role of PAK as a means of discipleship. Thus, the integration of theology in education is not only a methodological need, but a call of faith in forming a generation that is spiritually and morally resilient

Abstract

This paper investigates the evolving nature of social stratification in Banten, a province with a complex socio-historical background shaped by both traditional hierarchies and contemporary socio-economic forces. Drawing on sociological theories of stratification and social change, this study critically analyzes how structural and cultural transformations have contributed to shifts in class structure, status distribution, and access to resources among different segments of Bantenese society. Historically, social stratification in Banten was deeply influenced by feudal relations, religious authority, and kinship-based systems. However, the past few decades have witnessed significant changes triggered by rapid urbanization, industrial development, educational expansion, and increasing integration with national and global markets. Through qualitative methods—including in-depth interviews with community leaders, historical document analysis, and ethnographic fieldwork—this research identifies several key factors driving these changes: (1) the role of formal education in enabling upward social mobility; (2) the diversification of employment opportunities beyond traditional agrarian sectors; (3) the impact of regional autonomy and democratization in redistributing political power; and (4) the influence of digital media and consumer culture in reshaping social aspirations and identity. Additionally, migration flows and rural-to-urban transitions have reconfigured local social dynamics, generating both opportunities for mobility and new forms of inequality. The findings highlight the multi-dimensional and fluid nature of stratification in contemporary Banten. While traditional markers of status such as lineage and religious prestige persist in certain contexts, they increasingly coexist—and at times compete—with meritocratic and economic indicators of social standing. This research contributes to a broader understanding of how localized processes of stratification are embedded within national development trajectories, and how communities negotiate social change amidst tensions between continuity and transformation

Abstract

Church music has, from the beginning, been a vital element in the life of Christians not merely as a complement to worship, but as a means of praise, worship, teaching, and the strengthening of faith. In the digital era, music has undergone a transformation in its production and distribution through various online platforms such as YouTube, Spotify, and social media, enabling congregants to access spiritual songs anytime and anywhere. This transformation presents a significant opportunity for faith formation but also brings risks, such as decreased active participation, a shift in the meaning of worship, and the consumption of theologically shallow content. This paper discusses the role of church music in shaping the faith of believers in the digital era by highlighting the dynamics, challenges, and potential brought about by technological developments. Through an analysis of the functions of music in worship, an understanding of Christian faith, and the church's adaptation in the digital age, this study emphasizes that church music still holds great potential as a tool for spiritual formation when properly directed. Grounded in the Word of God and supported by a contextual approach, music can continue to be a living medium to build, strengthen, and deepen the faith of the congregation, even in a world increasingly connected through digital means

Abstract

The purpose of the study is to know and describe the phenomenon of students and health problems in the digital era. Literature studies are used as a type of research with results presented descriptively. The results showed that: The phenomenon of students is focused on addiction to using smartphones, delinquency due to promiscuity, lack of reading literacy (offline and online), bad speech, display and use Eastern and Westernized styles of dress or appearance but are not in line with religious shari'a and societal norms, and loss of respect for parents or educators or teachers. The mental health problems in the digital era are influenced by two domains (internal and external) namely the lack of ability to process, manage and show emotional feelings according to their place, often experiencing turmoil due to love, friendship and family problems, Experiencing a decrease in critical thinking skills due to being spoiled by technological sophistication, Less open to problems and experiencing pressure has implications for depression or stress (mild and/severe). Then for efforts to respond to it, it is supported by three aspects (family, school and community) through giving advice and punishment according to fairness, establishing cooperation between all layers determining the success of the educational process and having an attitude of openness to students

Abstract

Hope and optimism are defined as moods or attitudes associated with positive expectations about the future, involving a belief that good things will happen frequently. Experts such as Peterson and Seligman define both as behaviours directed towards achieving desired outcomes. Hope helps individuals find meaning in life, cope with challenges, and foster positive relationships. Individuals with high hope tend to view stress as a challenge, are motivated to seek solutions, and take action in the face of uncertainty. Optimism, as a positive mental attitude, is considered important in shaping healthy and productive mindsets, enabling individuals to rise from despair and see failure as temporary

Abstract

This research discusses folklore about the graves of Raden Ayu Dewi Nawangsih and Raden Bagus Rinangku in Kudus, which are considered spiritual places and have local values for the community. The approach used in this research is qualitative, with a focus on literature review. The purpose of this research is to uncover the history, legends and traditions associated with the tombs. The methods used include document analysis and interviews with pilgrims. The results show that the tomb not only has historical value, but is also a place of pilgrimage that combines beliefs, rituals and moral values. Many pilgrims come to seek blessings, but often the purpose of this pilgrimage is misinterpreted with deviant practices. The tragic story of the two characters should serve as a lesson on the consequences of violating norms. This research emphasizes the importance of properly understanding the spiritual meaning of pilgrimage to maintain noble cultural values, as well as the potential for preserving the tradition as a tourist attraction that still respects local spiritual and cultural values.

Abstract

The concept of Imago Dei (the image of God) is one of the central pillars of Christian theology, defining human identity and dignity. This study aims to explore the theological understanding of Imago Dei through a literature-based approach and examine its relevance in fostering humanistic values such as equality, justice, freedom, empathy, and social responsibility. By analyzing various interpretive models of Imago Dei: substantial, relational, and functional. This paper demonstrates that the image of God in humanity not only carries a spiritual dimension but also serves as a normative foundation for the defense of universal human rights and dignity. In a world marked by humanitarian crises, discrimination, and dehumanization, this doctrine emerges as a bridge between Christian faith and public ethics, offering insights that are vital for shaping a more humane and compassionate society. This reflection also affirms that honoring humanity is a tangible expression of obedience to God as the Creator
