Abstract

The Law on Persons with Disabilities mandates accessibility of facilities for people with disabilities in various sectors and spaces, including in the education sector in schools. The mandate for accessibility of school facilities is in line with several related laws and regulations. This mandate must be understood by the central government, local governments, educators, education personnel, and educational unit administrators so that they can serve students with disabilities. This research employed qualitative methods, normative legal research, a statutory approach, and descriptive analysis. Data collection techniques were carried out through literature studies. This article describes the mandate for accessibility of facilities in schools according to the Law on Persons with Disabilities and related laws and regulations. This research aims to facilitate understanding for the parties given the mandate, so it is hoped that related services for students with disabilities can be fulfilled properly. The mandate consists of at least physical and non-physical accessibility that should be available in schools, along with other related matters

Abstract

Transition programs for students with disabilities are an effort to prepare students from school to post-school life. According to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA), transition services must be coordinated, outcome-oriented, and tailored to individual student needs. Taxonomy for Transition Programming 2.0 emphasizes five key areas, including student-focused planning, self-determination development, and student participation in developing an IEP. This study aims to explore the role of students with disabilities in transition programs through a literature review. The method employed was a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) with PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines. The literature search was conducted through the ERIC, Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, and Sage Journals databases. The results show that student participation in transition programs varies, with students with severe intellectual disabilities tending to have lower participation rates. Factors such as functional skills, communication, and environmental support influence student engagement

Abstract

This study addresses the urgent need to enhance the effectiveness of physics education, particularly in light of the challenges faced by students in mastering complex scientific concepts. This study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) to examine the effectiveness of the peer tutoring method in enhancing physics learning outcomes at Senior High School 1 Bambanglipuro. Conducted over two cycles, each consisting of two face-to-face meetings, the research followed the iterative process of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 32 students from class XII MIPA 3 during the 2020-2021 academic year. Data collection methods encompassed direct observation, field notes, tests, and documentation. The results of this study demonstrate a significant improvement in student learning outcomes. In Cycle I, the average physics score was 57.35, which increased to 83.21 in Cycle II, reflecting a marked enhancement in student performance. Moreover, the proportion of students meeting the learning completion criteria increased dramatically from 32.35% in Cycle I to 88.24% in Cycle II. These findings suggest that the peer tutoring method is an effective strategy for improving academic achievement in physics. The study concludes that peer tutoring not only fosters greater academic engagement but also contributes to more substantial learning outcomes, thus supporting its potential integration into broader educational practices for enhancing student performance in science subjects.

Abstract

The importance of effective classroom management has emerged as a critical factor in enhancing student learning motivation, particularly in the context of rapidly evolving educational environments. This study aims to explore the role of classroom management in improving student motivation through a qualitative descriptive approach. The research was conducted at Muhammadiyah Kretek Middle School in Bantul, with all classes at the school serving as research subjects. Data were collected using observation, interviews, and documentation techniques. The findings indicate that classroom management by teachers has not been fully optimized, and the teaching methods employed remain relatively monotonous, which leads to students' decreased engagement in the learning process. However, teachers continue to make efforts to improve classroom management through thorough preparation of learning materials, varied teaching methods, strategic seating arrangements, and incorporating playful learning activities. Additionally, teachers are working to integrate advancements in science and technology to create a more engaging and dynamic learning environment, aiming to reduce the monotony in the classroom.

Abstract

The education of children with special needs in remote areas, such as riverbanks, faces various challenges, including limited access to adequate cognitive assessments. This study was a Research and Development (R&D) study involving children with special needs (ABK) residing in riverbank areas and educators working in these environments as research subjects. Data collection in this study was conducted through interviews and observations of children with special needs (ABK) and teachers in the riverbank areas. This study aims to develop an Android-based cognitive assessment application that can be accessed offline, specifically designed for individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in areas with limited infrastructure. The application development method employed was Research and Development (R&D), including user needs analysis, interface design, development, and application testing by users. The test results show that this application is effective in conducting cognitive assessments, with an automatic reporting feature that makes it easier for teachers and parents to monitor children's development. The offline mode feature allows assessments to be carried out without a stable internet connection. This study concludes that this application has successfully improved access and quality of cognitive assessment for children with special needs in remote areas and has the potential to be implemented in other areas with similar conditions, improving inclusive education for children with special needs.

Abstract

Learning Indonesian for foreign speakers (BIPA) at the elementary school level requires a fun, communicative, and suitable approach for the child’s age and development. An effective medium in supporting this learning is children's songs. Songs can help children develop their ability to listen, pronounce, and understand language naturally. This study aims to describe the effectiveness, benefits, and challenges of integrating children's songs into BIPA learning at the Muslim Santitham Foundation School in Thailand. This research employed qualitative descriptive methods. Data collection techniques were conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation of student learning outcomes. The research subjects were 32 elementary school students (A1). The data analysis technique used the Miles and Huberman model, consisting of three main steps, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions/verification. The results of the study show that the use of children's songs can increase students’ active participation, strengthen basic vocabulary mastery, and create a pleasant learning atmosphere. However, several challenges, such as limited audio-visual media and differences in students’ language ability levels, need special attention. Children’s songs have proven to be a potential medium in BIPA learning for children, especially in rebuilding the closeness of the Malay language and culture in the southern region of Thailand
