Abstract

Dispersion of titanium dioxide into montmorilonite pillared silica (SiO2-montmorillonite) was performed in order to gain homogeneous dispersion of TiO2 in solid support having high specific surface area, thermal stability and chemical stability. In this research, effect of titanium precursor to the physicochemical character of material was studied. Three different precursors : TiCl4, TiOCl2 and  titanium tetraisopropoxide (TTIP) were dispersed on SiO2-montmorillonite  at the concentration of 5% followed by calcination at 400oC for 3 h. Evaluation on material character was studied based on XRD, surface area analyzer and spectrophotometer Diffuse Reflectance UV-Visible (DRUV-Vis) measurements.Result of research show that there is a strong dependency between material properties and tittanium precursor.  By three kind of precursors, it can be concluded that main factor playing  role in determination of dispersion homogeneity is pH of the system in that TiCl4 cause structure delamination of SiO2-montmorillonite. Based on physicochemical characters, it can remarkably concluded that the success of dispersion by variation of titanium precursors as follow: TTIPTiOCl2TiCl4 .

Abstract

A study on the adsorption characteristic of multi metals (Ag(I), Pb(II), Cr(III), Cu(II) and Ni(II) on silica gel (SG)   and ethylenediamine-silica hybrid (ESH) which was produced from the prior research (Purwaningsih, 2007) has been completed. The adsorption of multi metals Ag(I), Pb(II), Cr(III), Cu(II) and Ni(II)  was conducted in a batch system for one hour at variation of metal ion concentration. The adsorbed metal ion was calculated from the differences of metal ion concentration before and after based on the analysis with AAS method. From adsorption data, thermodynamic parameters including capacity, energy and equilibrium constant of adsorption were determined with a model of Langmuir isotherm adsorption  The research showed that if compared to SG,  the adsorption capacity of  ESH for Ag(I), Cr(III) and Ni(II) was increased, while those for Cu(II) and  Pb(II) was decreased. The energy of adsorption  for the metal ions were relatively low for Ag(I), Pb(II), Cr(III), Cu(II) and Ni(II) which are  22,36; 22,70; 13,36; 23,45; and 13,90 kJ/mol, indicate that the interaction between ESH and the metal ions involved  fisisorption for Cr(III) and Ni(II) and chemisorption for Ag (I), Pb(II) and Cu(II).

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic aberration that can cause some complications, including the occurrence of diabetic nephrophaty (DN). Patients with type 2 DM usually have hypertension likely to double compared to the non-DM patients. Prevalence of hypertension is usually greater in patients with type 2 DM with increased albumin in their urine. Data estimate that microalbuminuria is a value as the index of vaskuler damage, especially in the DM and hypertension. The objective of this research is to investigate microalbumin in type 2 DM patients normotensif and type 2 DM patients hypertensif and assess the influence of blood pressure as risk factors in the occurrence of DN in type 2 DM patients. Subjects of this study are 87 people with type 2 DM normotensif and hipertensif consisting of 54 ND patients and 33 non ND. Microalbumin is measured with the dipstick microalbumin and blood pressure with a sphygmomanometer. The comparison between the control group who examined was showed with X2 with two degrees of freedom with significance level (alpha) 0.05 and odds ratio calculation is done. Results obtained in this research is people with type 2 DM hypertensif have a higher frequency in the DN group (67.3%) compared to the non-DN (p = 0.043) with OR = 2.64. Conclusion of this research is the positive result of the microalbumin examination is bigger in the people with type 2 DM hypertensif and hypertension is a risk factor for occurrence of ND in type 2 DM patients

Abstract

The objective of research is to increase pulses-based food security by the way of local foodstuff diversification, that is tempe from tolo bean. Specific objective of research is to study of influence some tolo bean types, making process, and inoculum types to nutrient changing during fermentation tempe from tolo bean.Research was done experimentally since May up to November 2008. Research was conducted by analysis proximate and digestible protein. Proximate analysis include water content, ash content, crude fat content, total protein content, dietary fibre content and carbohidrate content (by difference). Design research was complete block design with 2 times experiment replicates and 3 times sample replicate. Independent variable was tempe from tolo bean. Dependent variable was result of proximate analysis and digestible protein. Data analysis was conducted by analysis of variance and post hoc test of DMRT (Duncan Multiple Range Test) at 5 % significance level.Based on result of research can concluded that 1) process of tempe from tolo bean yielding which highest digestible protein was wet grind processing with usar leaf, and 2) tolo bean types, making process, and inoculum types had significantly influence to nutrient changing during fermentation tempe from tolo bean.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to synthesis poly(acrylic-acrylamide) at atmosphere condition and know absorbency or swelling degree of polymer that produced in water or urine. The synthesis was done through the  mixing of 2 mL acrylic acid with potassium hidroxide solution so that potasium acrylic salt formed, then this salt solution was mixed with a mixtures of methylene bis-acrylamide (MBA), potassium persulphate and sodium metabisulphite (SMBS) solutions. The gels were formed and then dried at 70 oC during 18 hours for obtaining constant weight. The result of synthesis was white hydrogel analysed using FTIR spectrometry method and measured its absorbency or swelling degree in water or urine. Based on the result of its water absorbency was found that the synthesed polymer using 0.02 g MBA and 0.014 g SMBS might absorbed 184.76 g water per gram polymer

Abstract

The aims of this research are to construct a new method for modeling fuzzy time series data and to apply the method for forecasting Indonesian inflation rate. The procedure of this research is done by the following steps: (1) determine fuzzy relations using table lookup scheme, (2) Apply the singular value decomposition to reduce the unimportant fuzzy relations, (3) apply  the method to forecasting Indonesian inflation rate. The result of this research is that it was designed a new method to construct the fuzzy time series model using singular value decomposition method. Then, the method is applied to forecast the Indonesian inflation rate based on fuzzy time series data. Forecasting inflation rate using the proposed method yields a higher accuracy than that using table lookup scheme and neural network methods.
