Abstract

This study investigates global public sentiment toward green investment by analyzing five years (2020–2024) of Google Trends data using machine learning. A Green Investment Sentiment Index (GISI) was constructed from five key search terms: green finance, green investment, climate finance, ESG investing, and sustainable investing. Results show that green finance consistently dominated search interest, with a mean index score of 38.5 and a maximum of 100. GISI rose significantly from 35 in 2020 to 68 in 2024—an increase of 94%—with major spikes during COP26 (2021) and COP28 (2023). The LSTM model outperformed XGBoost and Random Forest in forecasting sentiment patterns, achieving the lowest RMSE (6.8), MAE (5.0), and MAPE (9.8%), with the highest R² (0.93), indicating strong predictive performance. The model captured both seasonal peaks (Q4 increases of 20–25%) and event-driven surges (+42% in climate finance during COP26). This research contributes a novel real-time approach to environmental sentiment monitoring, offering scalable tools for aligning policy interventions with public awareness. It provides actionable insights for policymakers, ESG investors, and sustainability communicators. Future research should expand by integrating social media and news data and adopting interpretable AI for transparent forecasting.

Abstract

Rice husk is an agricultural by-product rich in organic matter, and improper management can cause environmental pollution. Given the high carbon content in rice husk, it can be used as an adsorbent. Furthermore, the type of activator and activation technique employed impact the properties of activated carbon. Due to its ability to produce activated carbon with a high pore volume and specific surface area, Pottasium hydroxide is a chemical substance that is frequently employed. This study sought to ascertain whether rice husks might be used as activated carbon to lower the amount of organic matter in liquid effluent from the agricultural wastewater. The results of this study indicate that rice husk activated carbon can reduce the level of TDS by 86%, TSS by 53,85%, and pH 6 from the initial level. The data suggests that the 1:110 adsorbent-to-adsorbate ratio is the most effective in reducing TDS concentrations in tofu wastewater, providing a steady and significant decrease in TDS over time. In comparison, the 1:120 ratio shows a similar trend but with less efficiency, while the 1:130 and 1:140 ratios show less consistent and slower reductions in TDS. Therefore, the 1:110 ratio should be considered optimal for TDS removal in this study. Further optimization of the adsorption process may help improve the efficiency of higher adsorbent-to-adsorbate ratios. The data suggests that lower adsorbent-to-adsorbate ratios (particularly 1:110 and 1:120) are more effective in reducing TSS in tofu wastewater, with the 1:110 ratio providing the best results in terms of adsorption efficiency. However, further analysis may be required to determine the optimal time and ratio for the highest efficiency in the adsorption process. In this study, the normal pH value was obtained, namely 6. So, the results of pH measurement of the sample did not affect the adsorption process.

Abstract

Soil erosion is a critical form of land degradation, particularly in tropical watersheds characterized by high rainfall intensity and steep topography. This study aims to assess erosion hazard levels in the Ijo Watershed, Central Java, Indonesia, by integrating the Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE) with Geographic Information System (GIS) techniques. Five USLE factors—rainfall erosivity (R), soil erodibility (K), slope length and steepness (LS), land cover (C), and conservation practice (P)—were analyzed using multi-source data including rainfall records, soil maps, Digital Elevation Model (DEM), land cover maps, and field surveys. Results show that erosion hazard ranges from very low to very high, with the largest proportion in the very low category (35.09%) and the smallest in the very high category (8.74%). Areas with steep slopes and minimal conservation practices were identified as priority zones for intervention. The novelty of this study lies in applying the USLE–GIS approach to a small tropical watershed, which remains understudied despite its ecological and socio-economic importance. The findings not only fill knowledge gaps on erosion dynamics in small-scale watersheds but also provide scientific evidence for spatially explicit land management and conservation strategies. This contributes directly to Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 15) and Indonesia’s Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN) targets.

Abstract

The COMDEV and CSR program of PT Sarihusada Generasi Mahardika (SGM) in Padukuhan Kaliurang Timur, Kalurahan Hargobinangun, focuses on community empowerment and environmental curiosity. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach to systematically describe various CSR initiatives carried out by PT SGM, by collecting data through program documentation, field observations, and participatory interviews. The CSR activities implemented include water conservation in upstream areas with the development of water catchment infrastructure, community-based integrated waste management, and urban farming as a strategy to improve food security. In addition, PT SGM also initiated the economic empowerment of women's groups through the Women Farmers Group (KWT) in dairy production and coffee harvest management. Environmental programs are enhanced through environmental education in elementary schools with the formation of environmental cadres and school garden management. To strengthen synergies, PT SGM also held multi-stakeholder discussions and campaigns to encourage cross-sector collaboration in preserving the environment. The whole program shows a holistic approach that combines ecological, economic, and educational aspects, and strengthens the community's capacity to face environmental challenges in a participatory and sustainable manner

Abstract

Regulatory inconsistencies between the Mining Law and the Coastal and Small Islands Law have created legal uncertainty regarding the issuance of Mining Business Permits in coastal areas and on small islands. This normative legal study utilizes statutory, case-based, and conceptual approaches to assess the legal validity of these permits under Indonesia’s environmental laws. The findings indicate a conflict of norms, as Mining Business Permits (IUPs) are frequently granted for islands smaller than 2,000 km², despite explicit prohibition under the PWP3K Law and subsequent Supreme Court decisions upholding the principle of Green Justice. The centralization of licensing authority following amendments to the Mining Law has diminished ecological oversight and often neglects zoning plan instruments (RZWP3K) and the participation rights of local communities. The study concludes that the validity of mining permits should not depend solely on formal administrative criteria but must also satisfy ecological legality standards to ensure the protection of coastal and small island environments. These findings underscore the need for the government to conduct a comprehensive legal audit and harmonize sectoral regulations to guarantee legal certainty, ecological justice, and the protection of coastal communities’ constitutional rights to a healthy environment.

Abstract

Situ Tirta Marta Spring is a spring-based water tourism area that also supports fisheries, agriculture, and community water needs in Karangcegak Village, Purbalingga Regency. This study aimed to assess water quality and determine the pollution status of Situ Tirta Marta Spring using the STORET method. A quantitative descriptive approach was applied. Water samples were collected on 4 and 11 April 2026 using grab sampling at two purposively selected monitoring points representing the upstream spring section (S1) and the downstream area adjacent to agricultural and fishery activities (S2). The measured parameters included temperature, total dissolved solids (TDS), pH, dissolved oxygen (DO), biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), chemical oxygen demand (COD), and electrical conductivity (EC). The results showed that temperature, TDS, pH, BOD, and COD met the Class II water quality standards of Government Regulation No. 22 of 2021. However, DO concentrations at S1 (1.40 mg/L) and S2 (2.95 mg/L) were below the minimum standard of 4 mg/L, indicating reduced oxygen availability in the aquatic system. Comparison with Minister of Health Regulation No. 32 of 2017 also indicated that temperature, TDS, and pH were within relevant standards for public bathing and sanitation-related uses, whereas DO did not comply. The STORET score was -4, indicating that the spring water is lightly polluted. These findings indicate mild environmental pressure and highlight the need for improved sanitation, visitor activity control, waste management, and regular water quality monitoring.

Abstract

Monitoring river water quality is important because increasing anthropogenic activities can degrade aquatic environments. However, studies combining water quality parameter analysis with two assessment methods, namely the Pollution Index (PI) and Storet, remain limited, especially in the Klawing River, Purbalingga Regency. This study aims to analyze the water quality of the Klawing River using physical and chemical parameters and to determine its status using the Pollution Index and Storet methods. This study used a descriptive quantitative approach. Sampling was conducted at three locations representing the upstream, residential, and downstream areas. The observed parameters included temperature, Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), pH, Dissolved Oxygen (DO), Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD), and Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD). The data were compared with water quality standards outlined in Government Regulation No. 22 of 2021 and analyzed using the Pollution Index and Storet methods. The results show that physical parameters still meet the quality standards. However, chemical parameters indicate water quality degradation, particularly low DO levels of 1.15-1.7 mg/L and high COD levels of 36.4-60.2 mg/L. The Pollution Index method classified the river as lightly polluted, while the Storet method classified it as moderately polluted. Therefore, integrated pollution control is needed to maintain the sustainability of the Klawing River.

Abstract

While Islamic environmental ethics has matured significantly, it remains anchored in thematic and doctrinal readings of the Qurʼān, largely overlooking the ecological commitments embedded within the text’s grammatical architecture. This article addresses this gap by utilizing Arabic linguistic theology to provide a philosophical reinterpretation of Sūrat Al-Fātiḥah. By analyzing the surah’s structural reliance on nominal forms (jumlah ismiyyah) over finite verbs (fiʼl), this study uncovers a sophisticated framework for valuing the natural world. Using conceptual analysis and ecotheological synthesis, the article advances three core claims: first, the surah’s nominal dominance suggests an ontology of permanence that challenges anthropocentric instrumentalism; second, its use of finite verbs constructs an “eco-ethical anthropology of radical contingency,” positioning humanity as dependent stewards rather than sovereign agents; and third, its dialogic structure establishes a covenantal framework that binds human accountability to the Rabb al-ʼālamīn (Lord of all worlds). By placing these linguistic features in dialogue with contemporary climate science and environmental ethics, this study demonstrates that a hermeneutically disciplined reading can reveal—rather than impose—the profound ecological resonance inherent in the Qur’anic text.

Abstract

The agricultural sector has a significant impact on the economy and the livelihood of the people in Purbalingga, Central Java, where around 26.5% of total GRDP income in 2025 is expected to come from this sector. This substantial income is accompanied by a growth in the number of business fields by 8.23% in the same year. Despite continuous growth and development, the agricultural sector, particularly rice fields, faces critical issues, such as the high rate of agricultural land conversion. Data shows a decrease in rice field area from 17,471.85 hectares in 2009 to 16,309.62 hectares in 2022, with a similar trend occurring in garden land. This research aims to evaluate environmental sustainability through the calculation of the agricultural area's carrying capacity amidst the high trend of land conversion. The research results are expected to provide strategic recommendations that can be taken to maintain the advantages of this sector while weighing the risks that may arise if land conversion is allowed to continue.
