Abstract

This study is aimed to record all pre-Tertiary pollen to improve the understanding of stratigraphy of the pre-Tertiary sediment that exists in the area of the Bird's Head, Papua. Pre-Tertiary palinomorf in this area is believed to have afnity with pre-Tertiary palinomorf which are common in the Mesozoic age in Australia and Papua New Guinea. Based on the index spores which are found along the Ainim river, it is interpreted that the studied sediment belongs to Tricolporites apoxyexinus zone (Late Cretaceous) and Protohaploxypinus microcorpus zone (Late Perm) which are ranging from middle Eocene (G-1), Late Cretaceous (G 4 to G-7) to Late-Perm (T-1A toT-3D). The Sediment was deposited in the terrestrial environment (non-marine) during Permo-Triassic age, which then shifted to the transitional environment (littoral-inner neritic) during Late Cretaceous.

Abstract

The existence of petroleum rening industry plays an important role in the supply of fuel oil nationwide. Activities that take place in the processing of petroleum into fuel require fossil fuels that will eventually emit air pollutants into the ambient air, one of which is SO2. Currently all of the activities of oil and gas reneries have been making efforts in order to safeguard environmental management environmental functions, including air environment, but in reality people are still feeling the effects of the presence of pollutants in ambient air. Given the ambient SO2 concentration at a point depends on the spread of SO2 emissions from the source, it is necessary to know the correlation spread of SO2 emissions from oil rening industry with the quality of the air in the surrounding environment. The objective of this study was to determine the correlation spread of SO2 emissions from oil rening industry with the quality of the air in the surrounding environment, particularly the ambient air concentrations of SO2. The study area is the area around RU VI Balongan, Indramayu district. The method used is the method of cross- sectional. Interpretation of the results of the correlation calculations gives a value of “r" for one. This means that a very strong correlation. This statement is consistent with the p value of 0.021, which means the correlation between the two variables signicantly positive correlation with the direction that shows its value in the same direction.

Abstract

Impregnant (ZnCl2) berpengaruh pada masa pakai (life time) dan waktu tinggal. Abstract

Dari hasil tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa penambahan 10% gas CO2 ke dalam fotobioreaktor dapat meningkatkan pertumbuhan mikroalga Scenedesmus sp. One potential method that can be used for the reduction of CO2 is utilizing the microalgae activity through the process of photosynthesis. Microalgae is a bioagen that is able to capture the CO2 and convert it into carbohydrates for the growth of the population. The number of CO2 used can achieve almost double of the dry weight biomass produced. The purpose of this study is to assess the ability of Scenedesmus sp. microalgae in the reduction of CO2 gas at a pilot scale photobioreactor by varying the concentration of CO2 to be injected into the system. The research was done in Subang gas eld for seven days. The composition of the CO2 gas was ±98%. The operating system was a batch system and used ”Sederhana 2”as a growth media. In this study we were using four sets of photobioreactor with their respective operating volume of 60 liters. Each photobioreactor has a different ratio of CO2 gas and air to be injected, that is 0: 100% (1st photobioreactor) that serves as the control, 10:90% (2nd photobioreactor), 30:70% (3rd photobioreactor) and 50:50% (4th photobioreactor). Cell density, optical density (OD), pH, and dry weight were used as test parameters. The result showed that the reduction of the highest CO2 gas contained on 2nd photobioreactor which occurs on the 3rd day of the operation, i.e. by 8.09x10-5 gram with cell density of 23.87 x 106 cell/ mL . From these results it can be concluded that the addition of CO2 into the photobioreactor can increase the growth of microalgae Scenedesmus sp.
