Abstract

Abstract

Modern society spends more time indoors, which has led to the hypothesis that indoor exposure can better represent the effects of air pollution at the individual level. Studies on the landscape of urban residential indoor air quality have never been carried out nationally in Indonesia. After 70 years of commitment to standardize the health aspects of the home in Indonesia, this study intends to make a chronological reflection on the Indonesian government's policy in residential indoor air quality. This study raised and analyzed several questions in the national and local context from the previous research. The government's various policies and regulations are chronologically listed to see the development and look for regulatory or implementation gaps. The indicators of insufficient ventilation and indoor air quality in much Indonesian urban housing have been shown in previous studies, encouraging this study to be necessary. This study used a chronological review using national and international journals. Previous studies have shown possibilities to estimate the landscape of indoor pollution exposure effectively using a socio-economic approach as a part. The latest national housing survey results can be used as references to discover the housing landscape status in Indonesia for further research suggestions.

Abstract

Increase in transport vehicles causes air pollution. Major pollutant of PM2.5 provides an enormous impacton health. Basin condition in Bandung causes the pollutants to be trapped because the pollutant cannot be released. The aim of this research is to analyze the health risks of junior high school students of SMPN 16 Bandungdue to PM2.5 inhalation exposure in the school environment by using Environmental Health Risk Assessment method.PM2.5 concentration assessment was conducted at 10 points with a sample of 66 students’ grade VIII selectedrandomly. The average concentration of PM2.5, which was 29.34 μg/m3 was still below the standard value regulatedby Government Regulation No. 41 of 1999 (65 μg/Nm3). The increased in real-time intake for 3 years and 12years respectively were 7.53x10-5, 1.25x10-4, 5.02x10-4 mg/kg/day. PM2.5 intake was higher in students with lightweight than students with heavy weight. Estimated health risks was expressed as risk quotient (RQ) calculatedfrom the average of PM2.5 exposure intake on students and reference dose (RfC), RQ>1 indicated the risk needed tobe controlled. The results of the analysis with the duration of real-time exposure for 3 years and 12 years showeda safe limit to PM2.5 exposure (RQ<1). Overall grade VIII students are not at risk of PM2.5 inhalation exposure inschool environments.

Abstract

Kata kunci: akumulasi, depurasi, PSP toksin, kerang hijau, Cilincing Microalgae blooms have been frequently reported in the Jakarta Bay, which is also the location of green mussel (Perna viridis) aquaculture. Accumulation and depuration of Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning (PSP) toxin in the green mussels were investigated in the field, where the toxin accumulation studies conducted in the mussel farming at Cilincing, North Jakarta. Accumulation test carried out by placing back the selected green mussel (equal size) into the mussel farming. Every week for 2 months, the green mussel were collected from mussel farming and transported to the laboratory. The fitoplankton abundance also was checked including pH, Suhue and salinitiy paramaters. Toxin depuration was conducted at Clams Sanitation Unit at Panimbang Banten. The depuration studies were conducted for 24 hours with sampling every hour in the first 4 hours and every 3 and 2 hours until the 24th hour. Preparation, extraction and toxin concentration measurements performed by following the Manual AOAC Official Method 2005.06 for PSP toxin in oyster. This research concluded that the accumulation of PSP toxin by green mussel, Perna viridis in the mussel farming at Cilincing, North Jakarta in ranged between 4,11–11,96 µg STX eq. per 100 g during January–February 2011. No correlation between PSP toxin concentration in the green mussel, Perna viridis with abundance of the PSP toxin sources phytoplankton, because the study wasnt done when microalgae blooming. The depuration processes was eliminate 60% the PSP toxins for 24 hours depuration processing. It can be proposes as a banded system the PSP toxin from algae to human being.
