Abstract

PT Baturona Adimulya operates an open pit mining system. Field conditions indicate variations in coal quality that influence the overall quality of the coal. This study aims to analyze the relationship between the coal depositional environment and the distribution of total sulfur content, as well as to assess the effect of calorific value on moisture content, ash content, and total sulfur. The study uses petrographic (maceral), ultimate and proximate analysis, as well as interpretation based on the Tissue Preservation Index (TPI) and Gelification Index (GI) methods. The results show that seams S and T are dominated by vitrinite macerals consisting of Telocolinite (Tc)

Abstract

Jambi Sub-Basin is one of the prospective areas for oil and gas exploration in Indonesia. However, the reservoir interval in the study area is thinner than the vertical resolution of the seismic data, making it difficult to identify using conventional seismic interpretation methods. The study area is located within the Air Benakat Formation. This study applies seismic attribute analysis to characterize thin reservoir intervals that are difficult to resolve using conventional methods. The objectives of this study are to characterize the reservoir based on seismic attribute responses and to identify prospective locations for proposed wells in the X Field, Jambi Sub-Basin. Four seismic attributes, namely RMS amplitude, sweetness, envelope, and instantaneous frequency, were integrated to provide a comprehensive interpretation of reservoir characteristics. RMS amplitude and envelope attributes were used to identify high-amplitude zones and lithological boundaries, while sweetness and instantaneous frequency assisted in differentiating potential reservoir zones from non-reservoir intervals. The integration of these attributes enables the identification of zones associated with variations in lithology, porosity, and potential hydrocarbon occurrence. Based on the integration of depth maps and seismic attributes for RES#11 and RES#3, three proposed wells were identified within Prospects A, B, and C in the southwestern part of the field, at elevations ranging from 960 to 1,530 m. These prospects are associated with faults that may have acted as hydrocarbon migration pathways. The integrated seismic attribute analysis indicates significant hydrocarbon potential in the study area and provides a basis for identifying prospective drilling locations in the X Field.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Rare earth element (REE) enrichment in the Bangka Belitung tin province occurs in genetically and technologically distinct materials that require different exploration and processing tests. This study develops an evidence-constrained framework that integrates fresh granite, weathered granite, placer/alluvium, and tin-processing residues without merging non-comparable geochemical values. The analysis separates primary accessory-mineral-hosted, residual mineral-grain, ion-exchangeable clay-associated, mechanically concentrated, and anthropogenically concentrated REEs. Site-specific datasets were evaluated by sample medium, analytical basis, mineral host, spatial support, process diagnosis, recovery evidence, and U-Th/NORM risk. Weathered profiles show systematic enrichment toward lower horizons: reported total REE concentrations increase from 156-188 to 196-268 ppm at Toboali and from 230-330 to 342-450 ppm at Air Gegas. Mineralogical studies identify monazite as the principal Ce-rich light-REE host and xenotime as a Y-heavy-REE host across primary, placer, concentrate, and tailings materials. Diagnostic leaching from South Bangka demonstrates that part of the REE inventory is extractable, but strong-acid recoveries cannot be generalized as evidence of low-intensity ion-exchange recovery. The ordinal screening assigns weathered granite the highest geological prospectivity but only moderate evidence confidence; tailings and placers remain attractive near-surface domains with greater heterogeneity and radiological uncertainty. Remote sensing is retained as a proxy for regolith, drainage, and disturbed ground, not as direct REE detection. The framework provides a reproducible basis for prioritizing field verification while preventing conceptual prospectivity from being misreported as a resource or economic valuation.
