Abstract

The phenomenon of digital da'wah has changed the landscape of religious communication, thus allowing preachers to reach a wide audience by utilizing social media platforms such as YouTube, Instagram and TikTok, this phenomenon plays a role against the hegemony of negative content and as an obligation of a Muslim to invite people to goodness, but this is also a challenge for preachers in conveying digital da'wah to rhetorically persuasively so that the message is conveyed spiritual ability to touch mad'u online or offline. In this context, Ustadzah Halimah Alaydrus has a significant influence on the mad'u (audience) even though she does not show her face in her videos and as an effort to deal with various negative content on social media. In this study, the researcher uses a qualitative method with content analysis techniques that seek to explain in depth through 2 da'wah videos. The author limits the discussion by using a phenomenological approach to understand and interpret muhasabah in the perspective of Ustadzah Halimah Alaydrus. The results of the study show that his rhetoric is characterized by a persuasive delivery style that contains ethos (credibility and spiritual authority), logos (arguments based on the Qur'an), with the dominance of pathos (gentle and touching approach) to provide high appeal for Muslim women online pilgrims.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the disaster communication strategies of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Simeulue Regency in mitigating fire crises in East Simeulue District, identify community responses to mitigation messages, and examine the supporting and inhibiting factors affecting the effectiveness of disaster communication. The research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques thru observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Informants were purposively selected, including elements from BPBD, village officials, community leaders, and the people of East Simeulue. Data analysis used the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, while data validity was tested thru triangulation of sources, techniques, and time. The research results show that the disaster communication strategy of BPBD is carried out thru direct socialization, education, utilization of communication media, delivery of preventive messages, and community involvement in fire mitigation. The community's response to mitigation messages includes cognitive, affective, and conative aspects. The community generally has a positive understanding and attitude, but the implementation of mitigation behaviors is still not optimal. The research concluded that the disaster communication by BPBD has been quite good, but it requires a more participatory and community-based approach to enhance community preparedness and reduce the risk of fires in East Simeulue.

Abstract

This study presents a communication audit of the Climate Village Program (PROKLIM) implemented by PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional RU III Plaju Sumbagsel as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. This research using a qualitative descriptive approach with in-depth interviews, field observation, and document analysis, this research evaluates communication effectiveness across five stages: problem identification, diagnosis, planning and implementation, recommendations, and evaluation. Findings reveal that ongoing socialization and education strategies have successfully increased community awareness and participation in climate mitigation activities such as tree planting and waste management. However, the study identifies significant gaps in transparency, community participation in communication planning, and the accessibility of program information. The communication monitoring system was perceived as insufficiently open and participatory. This audit recommends restructuring communication channels to be more adaptive, inclusive, participatory, and dialogic, to ensure PROKLIM becomes a genuinely community-driven movement that produces sustainable social and environmental impacts.

Abstract

Exposure to negative content of online games spread through social media has the potential to increase online game addiction and affect the communication patterns of teenagers in Banda Aceh. This study aims to examine the impact of negative content of online game addiction on adolescent communication. The theoretical basis used is Albert Bandura's social learning theory as a basis for explaining the process of observation and imitation of adolescent behavior towards digital content. The method used is a literature review supported by the method of recording and observing through direct observation of adolescents in several coffee shops in Banda Aceh. Data were obtained from various scientific publications in 2022-2026 and analyzed using a thematic analysis approach. The study was conducted because there are still limited studies that specifically link exposure to negative content from online games with changes in adolescent communication, while previous research focused more on behavioral and mental health aspects. The results showed that the majority of adolescents (70.2%) were at a moderate level of online game addiction, with indications of difficulty controlling the duration of play. As many as 55.9% of adolescents have poor family communication patterns, and 79.3% of adolescents with high-category addictions come from families with ineffective communication. This research emphasizes the importance of strengthening family communication, increasing digital literacy, parental supervision, and collaboration between the government, schools, and digital platforms in creating a safer media ecosystem for adolescents.

Abstract

The rapid development of social media has accelerated the spread of digital trends that are followed by people from various age groups. Although some trends have positive impacts, many viral trends pose potential health risks, such as the Kylie Jenner Lip Challenge and the Hahu Hoheng Challenge, which involves consuming extremely hot food. This study aims to analyze the factors that encourage people to participate in dangerous social media trends and examine their impacts. The research employed a qualitative approach using library research, observation of two TikTok videos selected through purposive sampling, documentation, and data analysis consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. This study applies George Gerbner's Cultivation Theory to explain how repeated exposure to social media content can shape users' perceptions that dangerous trends are normal and acceptable to imitate. The findings indicate that both trends may have negative consequences, including health problems, increased imitative behavior among children and adolescents, and social pressure influenced by curiosity and Fear of Missing Out (FOMO). These findings suggest that the popularity of a trend is often prioritized over consideration of its potential risks. Therefore, strengthening digital literacy, critical thinking skills, and supervision of social media use is essential to encourage people to be more selective and responsible in responding to trends circulating in the digital environment.

Abstract

This study analyzes how the advancement of digital technology has led to increased social media usage among children. This trend has both positive and negative impacts on a child's development and performance, depending on how the technology is used. The study aims to compare the performance of children whose social media usage is restricted (digitally wise children) with those who use social media without restrictions in Banda Aceh. A qualitative approach utilizing field research methods was employed. Data collection involved observation, interviews, and documentation. Informants were selected using purposive sampling, comprising six children: three subject to restrictions on digital media usage and three with no restrictions. The findings indicate that children who receive guidance and have restrictions placed on their digital media usage demonstrate better reading skills, greater focus during study, better emotional control, and higher levels of engagement in both academic and non-academic activities. Conversely, children who use digital media without restrictions tend to struggle with concentration, spend more time in front of screens, and participate less in learning and social activities. The study concludes that digital media usage does not necessarily have negative consequences when accompanied by parental supervision and guidance. Therefore, age-appropriate restrictions on digital media usage are crucial for supporting a child's academic, social, emotional, and character development.

Abstract

This study aims to qualitatively describe netizen comments on the social media account @nona_baygon, focusing on the dynamics of pro and contra responses in digital spaces. A qualitative descriptive approach was applied using content analysis of comments on selected viral posts with high engagement levels. Data were collected through observation and documentation of user comments on social media platforms and analyzed through data reduction, categorization, and thematic interpretation based on positive, negative, and neutral sentiment tendencies. The findings indicate that netizen comments are dominated by emotional reactions divided into two main poles: support for the creativity of the content, which is considered unique, and criticism of its controversial style of delivery that often triggers public debate. This phenomenon shows that social media functions not only as a space for entertainment but also as a field for constructing social meaning, identity, and public opinion. The interaction reflects how societal perceptions are rapidly shaped within open and dynamic digital environments. The study concludes that @nona_baygon’s content has strong appeal that significantly generates public opinion polarization within modern social media ecosystems.
