Abstract

This paper aimed to research about Badi’ style in al-Qur’an’s passages. This research used one aspects of Balaghah, tauriyah, and spoke about al-Qur’an’s passages which contains tauriyah style dan the secret behind its using. The objects of this research come from al-Qur’an’s passages using style of language/balaghah analysis, especially Ilmu Badi’ which concentrated to beauty of meaning (muhassinaat ma’nawiyyah) and importance of understanding tauriyah for another studies focused their object based on al-Qur’an, directly or not. This paper find that there are at least 10 passages which contains tauriyah in al-Qur’an, they are al-Baqarah: 143, al-An’am: 60, at-Taubah: 21, Yunus: 92, Yusuf: 42, Yusuf: 96, Thaha: 5, adz-Dzariyat: 47, ar-Rahman: 6 and al-Ghasiyah: 8. This number of passages erase the old paradigm that recognite only 3 passages in al-An’am: 60, Thaha: 5 and adz-Dzariyat: 47. Understanding tauriyah became important in Tafsir studiy and isthinbatu’l ahkaam in Ushu’l Fiqh field, even became one of obligatory requirements for mujtahid.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role and position of individuals in an Islamic society based on al-Qur’an. This research is based on Charles Taylor's individualism theory of a separate person (The Disengaged Self). Interest related to selfhood according to him is an inseparable thing in a community to avoid taqlid, religious fanaticism, and blind nationalism and. Every individuals have to create a disengaged self and strong evaluator themselves.This study indicates that Islamic collectivity has often been distorted into practical collectivism which negates the role of individuals and constructs individuals into forced decisions. Finally, the actions of the community are not based on individual awareness in the community based on al-Qur’an. The freedom self-development will have an impact in buliding an strong Islamic community, and apart from blind fanaticism. Islam is a religion that uplifts human reason to be able to express as freely as possible, even in choosing state leaders.

Abstract

Abstrak: Makalah ini membahas tentang problematika yang dihadapi Bahasa Arab di era globalisasi ini, khususnya terkait istilah dalam ilmu pengetahuan, teknologi dan sistem informasi modern. Derasnya arus globalisasi semakin menggerus peran Bahasa Arab di mata masyarakat tuturnya sendiri seiring tergantikan dengan bahasa asing. Sebelum berbicara tentang modernisasi, perlu diketahui berbagai problematika yang dihadapi Bahasa Arab di era modern ini, baik tercampurnya ragam ‘amiyah dalam forum resmi, penggunaan huruf latin dalam penulisan, masuknya bahasa asing dalam pengajaran dan publikasi institusi pendidikan, klaim bahwa kaidah nahwu dan sharf terlalu sulit untuk diterapkan, klaim bahwa diglosia Bahasa Arab merupakan sebuah bencana maupun ketidakpercayaan diri masyarakat tutur Bahasa Arab akan kredibilitas bahasa ini dalam menjawab tantangan zaman. Selanjutnya dipaparkan berbagai usaha individu maupun institusi dalam menghadapi tantangan zaman, baik melalui konferensi, seminar, penerbitan buku-buku, penyederhanaan kaidah Bahasa Arab maupun berbagai usaha pembentukan istilah-istilah baru. Terakhir, dicantumkan berbagai upaya pengayaan kosakata Bahasa Arab dengan pembentukan istilah-istilah baru. Kata kunci: Arabisasi, Derivasi. Globalisasi, Modernisasi

Abstract

This article talks about orientalism. Orientalism is a scientific tradition and discipline that examines all matters relating to the East from a Western perspective. Unfortunately, the Western perspective and framework that is superior to the inferior East influences most of the results of the study. The author uses the criticism of Maryam Jameelah and Edward Said in seeing how Orientalism works. Both figures were chosen because of their unique religious, ethnic and racial background. Both have felt the atmosphere of life in the East (Palestine and Pakistan) and also in the West (America). Therefore, they are expected to be able to provide comments and views related to how Orientalism works. At the end, the author lists the attitude of the East man in addressing the results of the study of the orientalists, namely with a critical receptive attitude and not trapped with a receptive and rejective attitude through all results of study.

Abstract

ABSTRACTYoutube is one of the popular media used for preaching. This study aims to analyze the stretch of da'wah on YouTube as an effort to represent Islam and to develop a positive Islamic representation. They use descriptive qualitative methods using the theory of Nidzam al-Ukhuwwah Hasan al-Banna and Ting-Toome inter-cultural communication in building a positive model of Islam in the Maya world. The author found that the younger generation carried out da'wah's propagation through Youtube and positively, Islam was represented through this preaching. They also access YouTube more than any other media platform. Therefore, somebody can build positive content and opinions in developing Islamic representation. The two strategies found are content-creating and collaboration. Through this research, Islamic da'wah via Youtube can be encouraged and grown to become a reference media in exploring Islam.ABSTRAKYoutube menjadi salah satu media populer yang digunakan untuk berdakwah. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis geliat dakwah di YouTube sebagai upaya representasi Islam dan Pembangunan Representasi Islam yang Positif. Menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan menggunakan teori Nidzam al-Ukhuwwah Hasan al-Banna dan komunikasi antar-budaya Ting-Toome dalam membangun representasi positif dari Islam di dunia Maya. Penulis menemukan bahwa Geliat dakwah dilakukan oleh generasi muda melalui Youtube dan Secara Positif Islam direpresentasikan melalui dakwah tersebut. Mereka juga mengakses YouTube lebih dari platform media lain. Konten dan opini positif dalam pengembangan representasi Islam dapat terbangun. Dua strategi yang ditemukan adalah content-creating dan collaboration. Melalui penelitian ini, dakwah Islam melalui Youtube dapat didorong dan dikembangkan sehingga menjadi salah satu media rujukan dalam mendalami Islam.Kata Kunci: Dakwah Islam, Komunikasi, Dunia Maya, Representasi Islam, YouTube

Abstract

This research aimed to understanding the concept of divinity in Arabic culture through lexemes which mean God used in the Qur’an dan Arabic Gospel. Lexeme is a smallest unit of meaning that formes a word. From the lexem, words, phrases, clauses, and discourses are formed according to Arabic’s concept of divinity. This research uses a semantic approach, through discussion on form and meaning, Brown-Yule’ s idea of text and co-text, and Sapir-Whorf hypothesis on culture and language. This research found that the lexeme of Allah (God) has been known by Arabic people before the birth of Islam and Christian. This lexeme means the name of the highest God in Arabic polytheism and was estimated to be used from the fifth century BC. Arabic Christians used this lexeme as the translation of “God” and referred to “The Only One God” about 500 years before Muhammad’s birth. The lexemes of God in the Quran could be named as Allah, Rabb, Ilah, dhmir (ana, anta, huwa, and nahnu), and the names of Allah (sifat-Allah wa asma-Allah), while the lexemes of God in Arabic Gospels are Allah, Rabb, Ilah, ab (father), Yasu’ (Jesus), al-Ruh al-Quds (Holy Spirit), al-Ibn (Son), as-Sayyid (Lord), al-Mu’allim (Master), al-Malik (King), and dhamir (ana, anta, and huwa). The lexeme of Allah, Rabb, and Ilah are found in both the Qur’an and Arabic Gospel, but these lexemes have some differences in word category, sintaxis function, and semantic role. Furthermore, another lexeme are used with same purpose, such as presenting a more complete and more familiar picture of God.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the environmental impact of mining activities from the Islamic perspective. The issue of concern in this article is the ex-mining pits that are not reclaimed nor being rehabilitated in post-mining activities. From the standpoint of al-tawāzun al-bī’ī, good mining practices mean returning land and water's function to their original position with improved quality to maintain a balance in environmental management and minimize the resulting damage, including those that cost people's lives. For this purpose, the religious approach and values play a central role in spreading good awareness among Indonesian people, known as a religious society.

Abstract

Abstract: This paper will research the phenomenological approach in interfaith communication. The strength globalization’s flow which is destroying every border between nations, regions, and cultures, unfortunately, is not strong enough to destroy one solid wall, the border of religion and faith’s differences. The phenomenological approach is a theoretical perspective based on the concept “back to the things themselves”. In Husserl’s phenomenology, he made an epoche and eidetic vision as the starting point of this perspective. Both of those concepts are a main and basic concept which is needed in interfaith communication to postponing judgment and looking with their own believer’s perspective. This approach is radically needed to smooth out the interfaith communication. This approach also allows the transcultural communication and identity transformation from one religion’s followers to another to reach a mutual agreement and decrease religious sentiments which are born from the subjectivity of one religion’s followers in judging other religions and their followers. In the end, al-Banna’s Role of Brotherhood can be interpreted as the foundation of Islamic phenomenology in building the solid society.الملخص: عنى هذا البحث الكلام عن المنهج الظواهري في الاتصال بين الأديان. قوة موج العولمة التي تهاجم الحدود بين البلدان والمناطق والثقافات لم تكن تقوى على هجوم جدار متين، وهو جدار اختلاف الأديان والإيمان. المنهج الظواهر هي إحدى وجهة النظر القائمة على أساس "الرجوع إلى الأشياء نفسها". على نظرية Husserl, يقوم هذا المنهج على نقطتين أساسيتين, هما Epoche وEidetic Vision. كانا مفهومين مهمّين في ابتداء الاتصال بين الأديان لتأجيل الظنون والتقييم والتحكيم عند نظرتهم إلى الأديان المجاورة. وبهذا المنهج أيضا، يمكن لأحد المتيدينين معرفة عادات أديان غيرهم وتحول الهوية بعضهم بعضا للوصول على كلمة السواء بينهم ولإضاعة الكراهة الدينية بين الأديان المولّدة من نظرية ذاتية لديهم. في آخر المقالة، بيّن الكاتب نظام الأسرة عند حسن البنا الذي سيكون أساسا في إقامة منهج الظواهر الإسلامي من أجل بناء مجتمع صلب.Abstrak: Paper ini akan membahas tentang pendekatan fenomenologi dalam komunikasi antar agama. Kuatnya arus globalisasi yang menggerus berbagai batas antar negara, regional, dan budaya nyatanya tidak cukup kuat untuk menghancurkan salah satu dinding tebal, yaitu dinding perbedaan agama dan kepercayaan. Pendekatan fenomenologi adalah sudut pandang yang berdasar pada konsep “kembali kepada sesuatu itu sendiri”. Dalam fenomenology Husserl, ia menetapkan dua titik awal dalam perspektif ini, yaitu epoche dan eidetic vision. Kedua konsep tersebut adalah konsep dasar dan pokok yang dibutuhkan dalam komunikasi antar agama untuk menunda penghakiman dan melihat suatu agama melalui kacamata pemeluknya sendiri. Pendekatan ini dibutuhkan untuk memuluskan komunikasi antar agama. Pendekatan ini juga memungkinkan komunikasi lintas budaya dan transformasi identitas dari satu pemeluk agama kepada pemeluk agama lainnya untuk menggapai suatu kesepakatan bersama dan mengurangi sentiment keagamaan yang lahir dari subyektivitas seorang pemeluk agama dalam melihat dan menilai pemeluk agama lainnya. Di akhir, penulis memaparkan sistem kekerabatan yang disusun oleh Hasan al-Banna yang dapat pula diinterpretasikan sebagai asas gerakan “fenomenologi Islam”dalam membangun masyarakat yang solid.

Abstract

AbstractThis research aimed to understanding the concept of divinity in Arabic culture through lexemes mean God which are used in al-Qur’an dan Arabic Gospel. Lexeme is the smallest unit of meaning that formed word. From lexem, words, phrases, clauses, and discourses are formed according Arabic’s concept of divinity. Formal objects of this research are the lexemes mean God in al-Qur’an and Arabic Gospels. All of data derived from al-Qur’an and the Four Gospels in New Testament. This research applied semantic approach, especially which talks about form and meaning, Brown-Yule’ s text and co-text, and Sapir-Whorf Hypothesa in relation between culture and language. The method used in this research is distributional method which is the lexeme and word as the deciding device. This research is a qualitative research caused of nature of the data that found and the data collection of this research purely based on library research. The process of this research passed three stages, data provision, data analysis with semantic approach, and the presentation of analysis result.                The result of this research indicates that lexeme Allāh that means God has been known by Arabic people before the birth of Islam and Christian. This lexeme means the name of the highest God in Arabic’s polytheism and estimated that it used since Fifth century BC. Arabic Christians used this lexeme as the translation of “God” and referred to `The Only One God` 500 years before Muhammad’s birth. As for the lexemes mean God in Arabic Gospels are Allāh, Rabb, Ilāh, Āb `father`, Yasū’ `Jesus`, a`r-Rūh al-Quds `Holy Spirit`, al-Ibn `Son`, as-Sayyid `Lord`, al-Mu’allim `Master`, al-Malik `King`, and Dhamīr (Anā, Anta, and Huwa). The lexeme Allāh, Rabb, and Ilāh are the similar lexemes found in both Holy Books, but these lexemes have some difference in word category, sintaxis function, and semantic role. Furthermore, other lexemes used in same purpose, that is presenting a more complete pictures and more familiar about their God.Keywords: Lexeme, God’s Name, Arabic Gospels, Semantic, Divinity
