Abstract

The low level of reading interest among Indonesian students, which UNESCO data reports at a mere 0.001%, significantly impacts the quality of human resources and academic productivity. This phenomenon is reflected in the drastic decline of library visits within higher education environments. This study aims to evaluate library management in enhancing student reading interest by implementing the CIPP (Context, Input, Process, Product) evaluation model. Utilizing a qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving the head of the library, the Quality Assurance Institute (LPM), lecturers, and students as key informants. The results of the context evaluation indicate low student reading motivation and limited institutional financial support. The input evaluation reveals that the literature collection and physical facilities have not met ideal standards, alongside the absence of standardized operating procedures (SOPs). Regarding the process aspect, although librarian services are considered adequate, their effectiveness is hindered by low student compliance with regulations. Finally, the product evaluation confirms that current management outputs have not yet optimized library visitation rates, which correlates directly with low reading interest. This study recommends updating collections based on user needs, developing creative literacy programs, and intensifying service promotion through social media. The implementation of these strategic steps is expected to reposition the library as a dynamic learning center to support sustainable student academic success.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of the principal as a supervisor in improving teachers' pedagogical competence at SDN Sidorejo, Tegalrejo, Magelang. The background of this research is the low pedagogical competence caused by the phenomenon of out-of-field teaching and the gap in academic qualifications of teachers in rural areas. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, non-participant observation, and documentation study, involving the principal, teachers, and the school committee as informants. Data analysis followed the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña. The findings indicate that the principal effectively implements four supervisory roles: 1) as a coordinator by synchronizing administrative policies and external professional networks (KKG); 2) as a consultant through clinical supervision to provide technical solutions for non-linear teachers; 3) as a group leader by fostering a collaborative culture that involves the school committee in curriculum evaluation; and 4) as an evaluator through a diagnostic and solution-oriented weekly reflection process. The study concludes that instructional leadership in rural schools requires an adaptive-directive approach to mitigate teacher qualification limitations. The integration of the school committee in academic supervision provides a new color in strengthening educational accountability at the primary school level.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of educational management functions (planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling) as well as the supporting and inhibiting factors at the At-Taqwa Quranic Education Center (TPQ) for the elderly in Magelang. A qualitative approach with a descriptive case study method was employed. Data were gathered through semi-structured interviews with four key informants, non-participant observation, and documentation, then analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model. The findings reveal that educational management at TPQ At-Taqwa undergoes fundamental modifications to align with adult learning principles (andragogy). Planning and organizing functions leverage religious social capital and utilize digital communication platforms. In the actuating phase, a radical curriculum modification is applied by eliminating writing and arithmetic, focusing instead on repetition, listening methods, and psychological motivation to reduce the students' inferiority complex. The controlling function shifts from rigid administrative paperwork to an informal-organic approach aimed at maintaining learning ecology and sustainability. The primary barriers include the biological decline and health vulnerabilities of the elderly, alongside non-formal administrative limitations. In conclusion, the integration of andragogi-based management with structural flexibility and methodological adaptation is the critical success factor in managing religious education for elderly communities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the learning time management of Islamic Education Management undergraduate students (mahasiswa-santri) at API Syubbanul Wathon Tempuran Islamic Boarding School, Magelang, in balancing their double burden between university academic demands and boarding school commitments. A qualitative case study approach was employed, with data collection techniques utilizing in-depth interviews with six mahasiswa-santri informants and two structural administrators, complemented by participant observation and documentation. The empirical findings were examined through the lens of Stephen R. Covey's Time Management Matrix. The results indicate that mahasiswa-santri act tactically and responsively in Quadrant I (Important & Urgent) to accomplish university assignments and daily Quranic memorization. Long-term success is determined by the optimization of Quadrant II (Important & Not Urgent) through preventive habits such as progressive task completion. Although frequently encountering sociological interruptions in Quadrant III (Urgent & Not Important) due to peer conformity pressures, and digital procrastination risks in Quadrant IV (Not Urgent & Not Important), their time management efficiency remains well-maintained. In conclusion, the mahasiswa-santri time management capacity is a dialectical result of integrating internal factors, including personal agency awareness and andragogic maturity, with external factors, which encompass institutional curriculum synchronization policies, rigid communal scheduling as a social conditioning instrument, and strict supervision from boarding school administrators.

Abstract

The institutional sustainability and enrollment rates of traditional Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) in Central Java have experienced post-pandemic anomalies due to intensifying educational competition and shifting urban demographic preferences. This study aims to analyze the management of public relations (PR) in enhancing parent enrollment interest (animo) at Pondok Pesantren Nurul Ali Sempu, Secang, Magelang. Utilizing a qualitative, descriptive-naturalistic approach, data were gathered through non-participant observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. Informants were selected via purposive sampling, including the head of the pesantren, 44 board members, 7 parents, and 6 alumni. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, encompassing data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the implementation of PR at Pondok Pesantren Nurul Ali shifts away from modern transaction-based public relations towards a cultural and socio-religious approach that strategically capitalizes on social capital (bonding and bridging social capital). This is manifested through inclusive and participatory annual PR programming, the mobilization of alumni and thariqoh networks as grassroots brand ambassadors, and a dual-track communication mix that blends the charismatic interpersonal diplomacy of the Kyai (head priest) with transparent digital publication platforms. Furthermore, the institutionalization of a continuous, two-way feedback loop with the parent council serves as a strategic mechanism to evaluate and refine educational services. This study concludes that the synthesis between adaptive public relations management and deep-rooted social capital creates a high-trust educational ecosystem, which ultimately acts as a robust catalyst to maintain institutional resilience, enhance accountability, and significantly boost parent enrollment interest in the competitive education market.
