Abstract

Temboro, Magetan, is a unique village widely known as Kampung Madinah. The nickname comes from the Islamic tradition embedded in villagers’ everyday lives, associated with Medina, the Propeth’s city. Further observations show that their Islamic tradition is distinctive, primarily referring to the community’s affiliation with the transnational Tablighi Jama’at movement. This fact implies that the community has its worldviews, moral values, and lifestyle, which puts them into a sub-cultural community category. This research examines the socio-historical aspect of Kampung Madinah Temboro as Tablighi Jama’at Sub-Cultural Community between 1984 and 2009. Therefore, we employ historical inquiries and social approaches as methods. We discover that: 1) Pesantren al-Fatah and Markaz Temboro play their central roles in forming Kampung Madinah as a subcultural community based on the Tablighi Jama’at ideology; 2) The subcultural indicators appear in how they dress, how they interact, symbols in the environment, the values they hold, and the integration of the Tablighi Jama’at ideology into people’s daily activities; and 3) Both the Pesantren al-Fatah and the Tablighi Jama’at Markaz networks increase the probability of similar subcultural community emerging elsewhere.

Abstract

The Ontalan tradition is a Maduranese tradition of throwing money to the bride and groom at the bridal events, which its people still preserve. The Ontalan practice is unique in its implementation because it only involves the groom’s family, relatives, and bhle. In contrast, the bride is not obligated to carry it out. Research was included in empirical legal research, namely studying and analyzing legal behavior, both individuals and society. The research method used by the researcher was qualitative. This research intended to understand the phenomena experienced by describing them in words and language in a particular natural context using various scientific methods. As empirical legal research, the approach used by researchers is a socio-legal approach. This research showed that Ontalan was first carried out at the groom’s house at the time of the bridal events, one day after its events. The groom’s family and relatives carried out the parties. The money given is not thrown away but is delivered using an envelope. Second, they carry out Ontalan to continue their ancestral heritage, help the bride and groom, reject lousy luck, and strengthen friendship because it does not conflict with religion. The benefits of implementing Ontalan were to create a spirit of social care through giving alms, bringing family relationships closer, strengthening ties, and making an equal household; those who do not implement Ontalan will receive social sanctions. Third, religion and culture are interrelated from the sociological perspective of Islamic law. The term Ontalan is a social definition because the actual social fact of Ontalan is a gift that, in its implementation, aims to create social change through efforts to help the bride and groom build harmonious and equal family relationships. Using the ‘Urf theory, the Ontalan tradition is included in ‘urf shahih because it does not conflict with sharia, benefits the practitioners, and contains religious values.

The results of the research are used to compile the data. During this phase of the process, data collection methods are utilized in order to locate and collect information pertinent to green Waqf, waqf productivity, the balanced scorecard, and an Islamic perspective in a structured manner. The conversation illuminated that the Waqf regulatory system was not functioning at its full potential and required enhancement. The conversation inspired that the Waqf regulatory system needed to be operating at its full potential; this needs to be emphasized, especially as a response to the low levels of waqf literacy, nazhir capacity, and technology utilization. The waqf management system does not exist in a vacuum free of defects. It is hoped that by using a balanced scorecard, gaps will be closed by implementing strategies, particularly the productivity and growth strategies, to maximize waqf management and provide an understanding of waqf ecosystems, thereby increasing the productivity of waqf management, generating the profitability of waqf assets, and maximizing the distribution of Waqf to beneficiaries (mauquf 'alaih). It will result in closing the gaps.
