First published in 2024, the journal is issued quarterly in February, May, August, and November. It provides an academic platform for scholars, researchers, legal practitioners, policymakers, and other stakeholders to examine issues concerning Palestine and their relevance to Indonesian society from legal, social, political, cultural, and humanitarian perspectives. The journal publishes original research articles, review articles, conceptual studies, and other scholarly works within its scope. It welcomes interdisciplinary research addressing Indonesia’s legal and political positions on Palestinian rights, foreign relations, humanitarian assistance, international solidarity, public opinion, civil society, social movements, historical developments, and cultural expressions related to Palestine. The journal also encourages studies examining the influence of Palestinian issues on Indonesian law, politics, society, and culture. The journal applies a double-anonymous peer-review process and an Open Access Policy, providing free and immediate access to published articles. Abstract

The war in Palestine has generated significant political and humanitarian engagement among Indonesian citizens, particularly Muslim youth who use social media to express solidarity, disseminate information, organize campaigns, and mobilize humanitarian support. This article examines the role of Indonesian Muslim youth in shaping public discourse on Palestine through digital platforms. Using qualitative socio-legal and digital society analysis, the study explores online activism, political expression, information dissemination, and forms of collective mobilization. The article argues that social media has transformed Palestine solidarity from an issue primarily addressed by political and religious organizations into a decentralized form of youth-driven civic participation. However, digital activism also creates challenges involving misinformation, content moderation, polarization, and restrictions on political expression. The study proposes a framework for understanding Palestine-related digital activism as a form of contemporary civic engagement while emphasizing the importance of media literacy and responsible information practices. Particular attention is given to how young Indonesians negotiate religious identity, humanitarian concerns, and political solidarity within digital spaces. The article concludes that Palestine-related digital activism has become an important component of Indonesian public discourse and provides insight into the changing relationship between youth, religion, humanitarianism, and digital politics.

Abstract

Palestine has become an increasingly visible subject of student activism in Indonesian universities. Campus demonstrations, public discussions, fundraising campaigns, academic forums, and solidarity movements demonstrate the capacity of students to engage with international humanitarian and political issues. This article examines Palestine-related student activism in Indonesian higher education institutions. Using qualitative socio-legal analysis, the study investigates the relationship between student political participation, academic freedom, university regulations, and freedom of expression. The article argues that Palestine solidarity provides an important case for examining how Indonesian universities accommodate political expression concerning international conflicts. While universities have legitimate responsibilities to maintain campus order and academic standards, excessive restrictions on peaceful activism may undermine students' rights to political participation and expression. The study proposes a rights-based campus governance framework that protects peaceful demonstrations, academic discussions, fundraising activities, and student organizations while maintaining proportionate institutional safeguards. The article further examines the role of universities as spaces for humanitarian education and critical discussion. The study concludes that Palestine-related activism can strengthen civic participation among Indonesian students when universities provide an environment that allows political engagement, evidence-based debate, and peaceful collective action.

Abstract

Indonesian Islamic civil society organizations have played an important role in humanitarian responses to international crises, including the situation in Palestine. Muhammadiyah, as one of Indonesia's largest Islamic organizations, has developed humanitarian and educational initiatives that connect Indonesian civil society with communities affected by conflict. This article examines Muhammadiyah's engagement with Palestine as a form of transnational humanitarian action. Using qualitative institutional analysis, the study explores organizational policy, humanitarian programs, public advocacy, and cooperation with domestic and international partners. The article argues that Islamic civil society organizations can function as significant non-state actors in humanitarian diplomacy by translating religious solidarity into institutional programs involving education, healthcare, fundraising, and humanitarian assistance. At the same time, humanitarian engagement must maintain transparency, accountability, and professional standards to ensure that public solidarity produces sustainable benefits. The study proposes a civil-society humanitarian diplomacy framework emphasizing institutional accountability, community participation, needs-based assistance, and cross-border partnerships. The article concludes that Muhammadiyah's Palestine engagement demonstrates how Indonesian civil society can contribute to international humanitarian action while simultaneously shaping domestic public discourse concerning global justice and solidarity.

Abstract

The Palestinian issue occupies an important position within Indonesian Muslim public discourse, with major Islamic organizations contributing to debates concerning humanitarianism, international justice, and religious solidarity. This article examines the role of Nahdlatul Ulama in shaping Indonesian perspectives on Palestine. Using qualitative institutional and discourse analysis, the study examines organizational statements, religious discourse, humanitarian initiatives, and public engagement. The article argues that Nahdlatul Ulama's position illustrates the complex role of religious organizations in connecting Islamic moral principles with Indonesia's foreign policy traditions and humanitarian commitments. Palestine-related discourse is not limited to theological solidarity but also encompasses questions of civilian protection, international law, peace, and humanitarian assistance. The study analyzes how religious authority influences public understanding of the Palestinian conflict while also considering the organization's emphasis on moderation and peaceful engagement. The article proposes that Indonesian Islamic organizations can contribute to international humanitarian discourse by combining religious legitimacy with evidence-based advocacy and humanitarian principles. The study concludes that Nahdlatul Ulama represents an important intermediary between religious values, civil society, and Indonesian public discourse concerning Palestine.

Abstract

Public fundraising has become one of the most visible forms of Indonesian civil society engagement with the humanitarian situation in Palestine. Mosques, Islamic organizations, charities, universities, and informal community networks frequently mobilize financial assistance through both conventional and digital channels. This article examines the social and institutional dimensions of Indonesian fundraising for Palestine. Using qualitative socio-legal analysis, the study evaluates fundraising practices, public trust, organizational accountability, digital payment mechanisms, and humanitarian governance. The article argues that humanitarian solidarity can generate significant social capital, but large-scale fundraising also requires strong transparency and accountability mechanisms. Donors need accessible information concerning the organizations receiving funds, intended beneficiaries, distribution processes, and financial reporting. The study proposes a community-based humanitarian fundraising framework combining transparency, independent oversight, digital accountability, and needs-based allocation. Particular attention is given to the role of religious trust in encouraging donations and the risks associated with misinformation or unverified fundraising campaigns. The article concludes that strengthening accountability mechanisms can preserve public trust while improving the effectiveness of Indonesian humanitarian assistance for Palestinian communities.

Abstract

Media coverage plays a central role in shaping public perceptions of international conflicts. In Indonesia, Palestine receives extensive attention from television networks, online news portals, and social media platforms, often through humanitarian, religious, political, and geopolitical frames. This article examines how Indonesian news media construct narratives concerning Palestine. Using qualitative content analysis, the study compares selected Indonesian television and online news coverage with particular attention to terminology, civilian narratives, humanitarian framing, political responsibility, and source selection. The article argues that media framing influences how Indonesian audiences understand the conflict and may reinforce particular interpretations of victimhood, responsibility, and international solidarity. The study also examines the tension between humanitarian reporting and politically polarized narratives. A more balanced approach should maintain sensitivity to civilian suffering while providing contextual information and distinguishing verified facts from political claims. The article concludes that Indonesian media have a significant role in shaping public discourse on Palestine and should strengthen verification, contextual reporting, and ethical coverage of conflict-related humanitarian issues.

Abstract

Indonesia has historically expressed strong political and humanitarian support for Palestinian self-determination. However, contemporary international politics creates complex challenges for Indonesia's Palestine policy, particularly concerning diplomatic relations, multilateral institutions, humanitarian assistance, and domestic public expectations. This article examines Indonesia's contemporary Palestine policy through the interaction between foreign policy, public opinion, humanitarian diplomacy, and international law. Using normative legal and foreign policy analysis, the study evaluates Indonesia's diplomatic positions, international legal commitments, humanitarian initiatives, and domestic political discourse. The article argues that Indonesia's Palestine policy is shaped not only by state interests but also by constitutional values, public expectations, and the influence of civil society. The study proposes a framework for understanding Indonesia's Palestine diplomacy as a combination of normative foreign policy and humanitarian engagement. Particular attention is given to the role of international law in legitimizing diplomatic advocacy concerning civilian protection, self-determination, and humanitarian access. The article concludes that Indonesia can strengthen the credibility of its Palestine policy by integrating consistent legal principles with measurable humanitarian diplomacy and multilateral engagement.

Abstract

The Palestinian issue increasingly appears in Indonesian religious and educational discourse, particularly within Islamic schools and pesantren. Educational engagement with Palestine may contribute to students' understanding of humanitarianism, international affairs, and global citizenship, but it may also create challenges concerning political polarization and the presentation of contested historical narratives. This article examines how Palestine-related issues can be incorporated into Indonesian Islamic education. Using qualitative educational and policy analysis, the study examines curriculum content, teaching approaches, religious narratives, and civic education. The article argues that Palestine education should move beyond political mobilization toward comprehensive education concerning humanitarian principles, international law, historical context, civilian protection, and peaceful conflict resolution. The study proposes a pedagogical framework combining religious ethics with critical global citizenship education. Teachers should be encouraged to distinguish verified information from political propaganda and provide students with opportunities to engage with diverse perspectives while maintaining clear humanitarian principles. The article concludes that responsible Palestine education can strengthen students' awareness of global justice and humanitarian responsibility without undermining critical thinking or educational neutrality.

Abstract

Indonesians living abroad have participated in Palestine solidarity activities through demonstrations, fundraising, public campaigns, and digital advocacy. These activities illustrate how diaspora communities maintain connections with Indonesian political and religious identities while engaging with global humanitarian movements. This article examines Palestine solidarity among Indonesian diaspora communities. Using transnationalism and qualitative social movement analysis, the study explores how Indonesian migrants organize humanitarian activities and communicate Palestine-related messages across national borders. The article argues that digital communication has reduced geographical barriers and enabled diaspora communities to coordinate with organizations and communities in Indonesia. Religious identity, Indonesian national identity, and universal humanitarian values may intersect within these forms of activism. The study further examines challenges involving political polarization, misinformation, and organizational coordination. The article proposes a transnational civil society framework that recognizes diaspora communities as independent actors contributing to humanitarian advocacy and global civic engagement. The study concludes that Indonesian diaspora solidarity with Palestine demonstrates the increasingly transnational character of Indonesian civil society and provides a valuable case for understanding the relationship between migration, identity, digital activism, and humanitarian politics.

Abstract

The Palestinian issue has maintained strong visibility within Indonesian Muslim society despite its geographical distance from Indonesia. Public solidarity is expressed through religious sermons, demonstrations, humanitarian fundraising, social media campaigns, and consumer activism. This article examines the social factors contributing to the persistence of Palestine as an important issue within Indonesian Muslim public opinion. Using qualitative sociological analysis, the study explores the interaction between religious identity, humanitarian values, historical narratives, media exposure, and political discourse. The article argues that Indonesian support for Palestine cannot be explained solely through religious solidarity. Humanitarian concern, perceptions of international injustice, Indonesian foreign policy traditions, and digital media also contribute significantly to public engagement. The study proposes a multidimensional framework for understanding Palestine-related public opinion in Indonesia. Particular attention is given to younger Muslim populations whose political participation increasingly occurs through digital platforms. The article concludes that Palestine functions as a significant transnational issue through which Indonesian Muslims negotiate religious identity, humanitarian values, national foreign policy, and contemporary global politics.
